My daughter got a tax refund of $964 with the fees taken off only got $587 that's a $377 loss how can these fees be justified when on your site it says $99. Total rip off esp a student who's struggling with stress as it is. Hopeless and heartless

I started a claim in may 2023 and I done everything they requested all forms of the paperwork and opened up the HMRC app for information they requested. And I’ve only found out they had not sent back my tax return and now I’m getting penalties from HMRC since it started and claiming they had requested all new codes for them to access the claim and now I’m loosing all faith in this company I will not dealing with these after this claim is sorted and closed and once my self assessment file will then be closed up and no I won’t be referring no one to them.

I applied for a tax back refund through this company before Christmas. I'd seen an ad on Instagram which, in retrospect, should have been a red flag. But with Christmas coming up I went ahead without due diligence. Please let this be a warning to all not to use this company - it is a shambles of inconsistencies, delays, and misinformation.
Initially I was told the refund would take up to 12 weeks/ 3 months and that their fee was approximately 30% inc. VAT. I've just received my refund today, nearly seven months later! It should have been £984. However, after their 'fee' I've been left with £630. I phoned to question this and was told that their fee doesn't include VAT, and that the person that had originally informed me of that has now left the company - how convenient.
Rewind to the beginning and there have been concerns throughout the whole process: The companies social media presence is almost nonexistent, their phone number is registered to two completely different businesses, they were extremely unprofessional regarding their accounting department and went on a rant as to how they had sacked them etc. etc. (more excuses). Additionally, whenever I did try to call, once all of the paperwork was signed and they 'had me', they were usually very short, quite vague with information and even rude at one point. I asked multiple times for the information that they were telling me over the phone to be put in writing in an email, which obviously never materialised. Also, when I did phone the way they answered the phone immediately struck me as odd. They don't answer in the manner a business would, they simply answer and say 'hello'... No introduction, or 'How can I help you', no company name. I would have to ask the name of who I was talking to and then they would somewhat hesitantly answer with 'Get my tax back'.
They originally requested that communication was most expedient through WhatsApp communication, but often they wouldn't reply, or would take days or even weeks to respond, and then gave me two separate WhatsApp accounts to liaise through. It was all utterly bizarre, and I had genuine concerns that I had been a victim of fraud at one point!
The whole process has been long, drawn out, unprofessional, and I'm glad it's done with. Terrible experience. I have since discovered that you can simply go to pretty much ANY reputable accountant and they will claim your tax back for a set fee and without deception.
Avoid this company. It's worth noting that these 'companies' are often unregulated and it's difficult for any form of recourse. I do hope that this helps someone else avoid the same troubles I've had.

I’ve started my claim with Get my tax back ltd on January this year , and can’t see any progress so far .
Very disappointed

I was called randomly by Get My Tax Back, so was a bit dubious, but Ellie was great and did all the hard work to claim back 3 years of tax. Communication was easy through phone and WhatsApp and email to send documents. The process did take a few months but this was due to my circumstances. Her hard work literally paid off just in time for Xmas. Thank you so much. I will definitely be recommending many NHS colleagues.

Ellie was amazing , she kept me updated and and informed all the time she took me through show me how to do everything and I have just received my tax back in my account and I am so happy with the service and really appreciate it as this is gonna be handy with Christmas just weeks away. Also Ellie goes above and beyond as I have been have issues with some more outstanding money owed to be that has gone somewhere else and Ellie has been trying to help get this sorted Thanks Ellie :-)
