Ordered a flood report and then requested a call as I had some questions on it. Nathan Montgomery rang me and spent about 40 minutes going through it and answering all my questions in detail. He could not be more helpful and tried his best to understand all my issues and then resolved them all in turn.

He explained how the flood risk is modelled and, importantly, was upfront about what the data can and can’t tell you rather than glossing over the limitations. Clear explanations and no attempt to either downplay or dramatise the risk. He also helped me research the planning applications for the property was trying to buy and went through the documents with me live on the phone.

He then followed up by email with Environment Agency surface water mapping across a few different return periods and climate scenarios, suggested which questions to put to the seller about mitigation measures, and pointed me to a few other sources worth checking — council flooding records, the local flood risk assessment and Thames Water’s sewer flood history report.

He put in far more time and detail than I expected for the price of a report and I’m very grateful.

10/10 service - clearly went above and beyond and would recommend anyone to ask for Nathan if you want top quality service!

I've had awful experiences with finding companies that provide FCA reports but Geosmart were definitely not one of them! Credit to both Nathan and James who were very transparent and helpful throughout. They explained the job / report thoroughly which enabled us to design mitigating measures going forward. We were recommended this company for assistance with SuDS application for 2 agricultural building (roof coverings) after struggling to find suitable more local companies. Jessica and her colleague were so helpful with our queries, always available to answer questions and attended a meeting with the SAB team at Flintshire prior to completing a SuDS report which was so useful to discuss options and put across suitable suggestions for the proposed works. I can highly recommend this company for their efficiency and timely response. We will be using them again in the future for similar projects.

I can’t recommend Geosmart in Shrewsbury highly enough. As a complete novice taking on the challenge of building a small bungalow in my garden for my elderly mum, and on a very tight and complicated plot —I initially felt overwhelmed and unsure where to turn.

After reaching out to several companies, I was so relieved to find Geosmart. From the very beginning, Rosa and Emily took the time to really listen to my requirements and understand the constraints of my project. They then connected me with Toby Kay, who has been nothing short of exceptional.

My experience with this firm was disappointing due to a significant lack of clear communication and internal coordination. From reception through to the consultancy and management levels, there was a consistent sense of confusion that made the process difficult to navigate.
Key Issues:
• Due Diligence: I felt the team did not perform thorough background checks before providing advice.
• Decision Making: The conclusions reached felt rushed and ill-advised rather than data-driven.
• Specialist Advice: I would suggest being very cautious if you are seeking specific expertise in surface to ground water drainage, as the guidance I received lacked clarity.
Overall, the experience felt disorganized and unprofessional. I would recommend looking elsewhere for more reliable technical consultancy 👎

I had a great experience working with Toby and Emily at GeoSmart. They were both extremely helpful and professional throughout the process, particularly when dealing with the council in relation to the Flood Risk Assessment.

Communication was clear and timely, and they took the time to explain the requirements and next steps, which made what could have been a stressful process much easier to manage. Their support and persistence in liaising with the council were greatly appreciated.
