Broken Trust

If I could give General RV of Orange Park, FL no stars or a 1/2 star, at best, I would. However, to leave reviews consumers are forced to select at least one star.
DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT do business with this company. Once they sell you an RV and you need lots of service work done (because they sold you a lemon), good luck on getting scheduled, the work being completed on time, AND all the problems fixed properly. They are in the business to sell RVs and do not stand behind what they sell. Thor Motor Coach being the worst.

Stay away from GENERAL R/V, buy your R/V somewhere else

Do not under any circumstance do business with GENERAL RV CENTER, you will regret it the way I am regretting it everyday since I put down a deposit on a motorhome. I visited the Hershey RV show in September and decided to purchase a Class C motorhome. I was asked to put down a $2000 deposit Non Refundable on this motorhome and bring the balance in when it was picked up. Well when the finance person I was dealing with came out with the contract there was almost $20,000 of add On's that they tacked on to the price. They had in the contract extended warranties, tire protection, protection for the coating on the motorhome ,$3500 to deliver the motorhome from where it was made and $3500 to prep it. $7000 total for shipping and preparation, what a joke. There were also add Ons like roadside assistance, everything they could throw in they did. All the extra's they put in the contract ate up the $20,000 I was going to put down as a down payment. And prior to them writing up the contract I told this finance person I didn't want any extended warranties or paint protection or tire warranties, but when he came back they were all there. I went round and round with them for days, getting them to remove these extras and lower the shipping and prep costs, which they did not. After dealing with them about the contract I decided I wasn't going to buy the R/V. Now I am in a credit card dispute with General R/V, trying to get my deposit back. I am fighting them through my bank and General R/V says that the deposit was non refundable, first of all the application for financing they put through to a bank did not go through, I was turned down for the loan. I expected to deal with a honest company , my experience was a disaster. Can you imagine how many people put down deposits and don't get financing? Well General RV keeps your money anyway, so you are screwed either way. Take my advice and buy somewhere else, I since purchased a RV from another dealer and gave them $2000, refundable, and when I told the finance person at this dealership about my experience with General RV he said it was all BS, they didn't lose a single penny on me, because they sold the RV to the next person in line. Nightmare , Beware . All they wanted was your money. The people in the finance tent there were from Michigan I understand. A travelling boiler room operation in my opinion. Lesson learned, do your homework and check out the company you plan on doing business with, I wish I did. Retired US Navy Chief Petty Officer, Disabled Vietnam Veteran

Professional Lairs

Had to give general rv a one star just to write this, pathetic.
So after hours Im searching coaches, the only way to get detailed info on it is to submit email address and phone number. At 0600 my phone starts going insane with email alerts and text messages from Lily Gonzales. I call thinking I will get the information that I was looking for, like always, no one gives you a direct phone number, once she is on the phone I tell her my name and she is clueless as to who I am, go figure. One question was what happens to the coaches that are not sold in that particular year, “Oh that never happens, all units are sold and there is none left, this is the last unit like this”.
I am a 100% disabled veteran, that served this country and protected the very freedoms that you are using to Lie to me, I just wish I could have protected your freedoms the way you respect and treat veterans.
General RV could not give me a free and clear couch unless there was another coach dealership across the street so the tile could be walked over and traded on the spot.
Take your chances if they will lie to Disabled Veterans how do you think they will treat you and what will they tell you.
You have been forewarned

I purchased a fifth wheel back in April of this year from General RV. I’ve had nothing but problems since they sold me this unit I don’t appreciate any of their business. They are useless to me and what I really want is them to replace me with another camper at this point. I wouldn’t recommend anybody purchasing anything from them.!

GENERAL RV

GENERAL RV - ORANGE PARK, FL
2023 Thor Delano-Mercedes bought brand new on April 29, 2023 this is the list of things wrong with this brand new vehicle when I got it home the same day and they knew a week in advance of these issues:
The left side Recliner would not close without being forced with a great deal of effort and when I say effort I mean slamming both my legs downward as hard as I could before it closed. - The Ladder was not lined up with holes for over cab bed. - The drawer at floor when you step up into bedroom, there was no latch and would come open very easily. - The Battery cover at the entry step, the lock was screwed up, looks like it wasn't locking correctly. - Auto Adjustable Levelers was broken. - Squeaky Floor - Beeping or error with the passenger side seatbelt goes off while driving down road. -The TVRemote had rust all in it when I checked the batteries. - Part missing on the exterior.
Didn't move the RV until 5/20/2023 where I found out the following: Auto Adjustable Levelers broken, wouldn't even turn on. - Major Water leak in rear bedroom, came thru lights from roof.
They had my vehicle from 5/26/2023 to 9/15/2023, 111 Days. I got my vehicle returned to me with the gas tank on Reserve (totally empty) and Theatre seats still broken now one sits up father than the other and doesn't go back all the way like other seat. - Never received Pictures from scans that show there is not mold from the leak in the roof, my guess is it showed mold and they are refusing to give me the pictures that prove it. - The removed the Pole for one of the tables and have not returned that which I can't use the table with out that piece. - Stains from leak on the 2 twin beds which should have been replaced. - The part that was missing on the exterior side, looks like it will fall off, not installed correctly. - New issue: GFI outlet in the Bathroom started popping won't reset. The issues don't seem to be stopping for this RV.
I am now on my 3rd email to them about what was still wrong when it was returned Sept. 15th and NO ONE has bothered to reply or schedule to fix these issues. It is without a doubt, I say don't walk.. RUN from this Company. At this point I just want everything fixed so I can use the RV, as of now I have owned it for 6 months and can't use it at all. Mr. Chris Dietrich the General Manager of General RV has yet to return a call or email from all of this as he said he would. I am frustrated, very disappointed, and need answers now. How can you ever run a business this way. Please don't answer saying we have a lot of happy customers, because what I say to that is for every one happy there is 5 that are not... I have put in a call to Wixom, Michigan which is supposed to be the Main HQ for General RV, awaiting a call or email as of today. I understand this GRV is owned by a family named Baidas, well I hope Mr. Robert Baidas reads this and does something to help me.

I have copies of all emails, photos and videos to back all of this up.

THE WORSE RV LIARS ANYWHERE IN THE…

THE WORSE RV LIARS ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD. Last week I bought a $400,000 diesel RV from these fools. I paid a $10,000 non-refundable deposit and signed the paperwork via Docu-Sign listing the new 23' Entegra Cornerstone I bought. My conversation with the online person and then her sales manager took a few hours to complete the deal. They told me to book my flight to Chicago and pick up within 7 days. I booked a flight with United and when I was about to redeem a CD to pay for it, I got a call saying they made a mistake and it was really $600,000. They asked me if I wanted to pay $200,000 more? I should have known what kind of a place this was when the first thing the sales manager said to me when he called, was "How about Ceramic Coating"? That was a big red flag because Ceramic Coating is a big scam. THANKS FOR THE GREAT SERVICE GENERAL RV CENTER !!

Brand new RV in shop for 4 months

We bought a brand new 2023 Tiffin Allegro Open Road 36U on November 30, 2022. I should have known that General RV is a questionable dealership when the finance guy pushed the “magical paint coating” on me, I said “no” and when I showed up to pick the RV up, it was done anyway and $7K added to the invoice. He claimed I said I wanted it. I clearly told him in the phone I did not. He said too late, it’s done. I should have walked. Stupid of me.

It gets much, much worse. The walk through produced a punch list with half a dozen small items but they couldn’t get me back in for 4 months to fix them. Should have walked then as well. Stupid me.

Then I get home and within a week, the inverter fails (on a brand new rig!). General RV has no advice. I call Tiffin many, many times and finally find an electrician that walks me through it and confirms, bad inverter.

On our first (and still only camping trip (8 months after purchase) the defective Lippert jack legs broke. One snapped off, and the other stuck in the dirt. I spent the weekend trying to fix it as General RV and Tiffin neither offered a morsel of help.

I dropped it off on 4/2/23 for the warranty repairs and the two new major problems. That was 3.5 months ago. It’s still not repaired.

At first, they forgot they had it. Yes, the first idiot service “concierge”, Richard, that I had forgot it was there. Then when I called raising hell, he called me back 2 days later to tell me it was ready for pickup. Two days after that, as I was about to do the 5 hour drive to pick it up, he lives a voice mail saying the parts on still on order. Huh? I call Richard, the “concierge”, and he didn’t remember talking to me 2 days earlier. That was May.

Now two months later, I learn that the jacks were not ordered from Lippert until 7/12, more than 14 weeks after the RV was dropped off. The other parts also didn’t get ordered for months.

This dealer is the worst. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM. DO NOT GET YOUR RV SERVICED BY THEM. A clueless company that does not care about their customers.

There service department is the worst

There service department is the worst, the service manager doesn't return calls have left 5 messages and 2 emails with no response due to a major issue with RV. There service and communication is the worst!! Nobody takes responsibility they pond it off to someone else and nothing gets done. There VIP tags should stand for "Very irritated Patron" they know nothing about there product sad when the customer knows more and has to educate them. Just bad business. No one there can make a decision. Having serious issues with RV and they don't want to help you. Everyone in service waiting room is irritated with them. Just tired that we can't get things fixed because they don't return calls or emails. They don't care about the customers. They are nice to you when you buy, but after that it's all down hill. There service department is the worst around and can't even complete a job correctly. There word means nothing, they always have excuses. This place is very poorly run and managed.

ABSOLUTELY THE WORST

ABSOLUTELY THE WORST! We ordered a NEW 2022 model travel trailer, straight from the factory with the Virginia location in Oct 2021. We were not new to camping, but we were new to this ‘stealership’. Upon receipt of the ‘NEW’ TT the fireplace did not work = order the part. The bunkhouse fold-out couch did not have a back to it = order the part. The stovetop cover didn’t have screws - order the part. All fairly ‘minor’ issues so we thought, and all the parts were supposedly ordered in Oct 2021…
Our very first camping trip with this TT was not a successful one - we immediately had plumbing issues with a leaky shower and the slide seemed a little wonky. The slide was in the ‘out’ position during our walk-thru with the dealership, so we wouldn’t have known if anything was wrong with it with them.
After several failed attempts to contact GeneralRV - as they DO NOT ANSWER THEIR PHONES - I left several voicemails of which were never returned. On call attempt #1million__x__ I finally reached someone and was able to make 1 service appointment. This appointment was set for January 2022 of which ended badly with a cancellation on their end, due to the weather and interstate closure. We live 5hrs from the dealership, so we were appreciative of that cancellation and rescheduled that appt for their next “earliest” appt which wasn’t until June 2022 (keep in mind we purchased in Oct2021 with a 1yr warranty that we are now 8mo into…) They fixed the plumbing and stated the pipes “weren’t glued together from the factory”. I asked if they had fixed ALL the plumbing because if one wasn’t glued, then they all weren’t glued… “sure” was the response we received. The ordered parts were still not in “due to Covid” and would be mailed to us for installation once they were… not acceptible! So I made them swap our non-working fireplace for another unit that they had instock on their sales floor even though it was a different size - they were not happy with that, but they did it. I told them once our ordered unit arrived to them - they could keep it to replace the one they took off the sales floor - all agreed.
We discussed the electrical issues of the camper. I asked for a complete combover of our unit while it was still under warranty on purpose, and for them to fix anything that needed fixing right then and there! We discussed ALL the issues of this BRAND NEW camper with the manager, who ended up offering us a “buy out” that tured out to be a lie… all he was doing was tacking on the remaining balance to another unit of our choice as you would a normal trade in. ABSOLUTELY NOT! AND we are NOT ok with continuing to be their customer! We declined his offer as he was lying to us and not offering us what he should have been. Since this visit… we have not been able to get this dealership back on the phone. They have not answered any of the voicemails we have left. They have not answered any of the texts that we have sent - that we were told went straight to a computer screen, nor have they answered emails. We understand they did not build this unit, but they did sell this unit in the ‘lemon’ condition that it is in and we hold them responsible. We will continue to persue this further and will not be backing down until a complete buyout is performed.
So people of the camping world…
be prepared to see more 1star reviews on GeneralRV! And PLEASE do yourself a favor and do NOT waste your hard earned money on them!

The buying of the used RV was good

The buying of the used RV was more pleasant than normal ( we have had 6 RVs), the management responded to my requests for help on a mattress issue after purchase that we had and they got us a new one with no hassle. Good experience overall.

Terrible Customer Support

Update: 1/31/2023
Summary
I dropped off my RV December 30, 2022 and it has been over four weeks that I have not received an update and the service representative (Kevin) nor senior staff (Frank) have answered or returned my phone calls.
Details
I dropped off my Class B on December 30, 2022 in the Ocala, Florida General RV Center due to the 12V system not working, as it seemed as if the house batteries were not holding charge.
I informed Kevin (Service Rep) of the issue and was able to drop off the RV that day.
The service rep, texted me (352-268-8775) that same day to pick up the RV and mentioned and the issue was due to a tripped breaker.
When I arrived at General RV, I checked to see if there was power to the 12V system, and it resulted to no power.
I spoke to Nathan (Technician) and he was not sure what the issue was and asked if I wanted to drop off the RV so that he can test it further, which I agreed to.

It has been 33 days and I have not received a call nor has my service representative answered my calls. I am looking to find out the status of my RV?
This has been the second time where I have been ignored and not treated properly as a customer. At least the first time, the sales department assisted me in where the service department was lacking customer service. General RV’s Service Department has great diminished my positive attitude and experience with General RV.

General RV sucks!!!

Well, it's plain to see that I and my spouse are not the only General RV customers that have had an awful experience! Here's our story. We purchased a Nexus Rebel 35R a few weeks ago. When signing the purchase agreement, the finance guy told us that he would be scheduling a date and time of our liking with the Service Dept. to install the added options. When we showed up for that appointment, Service tells us that no such appointment was made. I had to spend almost 7 hours at their facility when it should have taken only 4! But wait, there is more!

When signing the purchase agreement, that same finance guy told us that we had to make a decision, right there and then, about whether or not we wanted any of the options they had to offer. He gave us no time to think about items that could, over the course of the 20 year finance, add an additional $20K to the cost of the RV. That my friend is "heavy pressure sales", but it all seems to be a day at the office for General RV.

So, when were out on the road, a problem developed with the slide out cover and needed to be repaired. We cut our trip short to bring the vehicle back to Florida for service. Once back, we called General RV first thing the next morning to schedule an appointment. We were told that someone would call us by 6 pm that day....that did not happen. And at 4:42 pm on day 2 of waiting to get that call.....still no call!

If we had known a month ago what we know now, there is no way in hell we would have bought from General RV. In our view, they are nothing more than a bunch of kiddies in a romper room looking to see who they can screw over next. If you're thinking about an RV, we strongly suggest that you don't go to General RV.

Service after the sale is NONEXISTENT. Try to call and make a service appointment before you buy from these people. Read the low reviews before trusting these people or you will regret it as I do.

The Customer’s Always Wrong at General RV

This dealership flat out lies about their customers, responding to a BBB compliant with a blatant disregard for the truth.

For example, they said I “demanded a five minute fix,” which is absolutely untrue. I understand these places are busy and supply chain issues are common. All I expected from them was the “same-day service plan when I call between 9am - 5pm during ‘Keep You Camping‘ hours” that they promise on their website and in print during the Sales process. They never offered me any kind of repair plan in the 4 days before I gave up after Customer Care told me twice that they’d check in at the end of the day and failed to do so both nights. I decided I didn’t trust a dealer with that poor communication to work on my rig.

(I was able to get a “same day repair plan” from a smaller dealership who advertises no such program. Let me be clear, this smaller dealer did not offer me a same-day fix, which I never expected. They offered me a same-day plan and approach to the repair process. That much can be done, even the week before a holiday.)

They also claimed that the service manager spoke with me. I never spoke with the service manager (on the phone or via email). It’s just not true. I wish I had had the opportunity. In fact, it’s all I ever expected.

Look, if General RV doesn‘t want customers to expect a “same-day repair plan,” then they shouldn’t advertise it during the sales process and on their website. It does nothing but set them up for unhappy customers whose expectations aren’t being met.

And I would certainly never trust a business who blames the customer for communication failures and false advertising from their headquarters or a company who lies about their customers. When you break a brand promise, the correct response isn’t to blame the customer, offer no apology, and make them feel stupid. It’s to offer an apology and a solution.

Jeff, if someone on your team told you I expected a “five minute fix,” then it looks like y’all don’t just lie about your customers; you lie amongst yourselves, too. If you’d actually spoken directly with me like you claimed to have done, you’d know that I never demanded a same-day or same-week appointment — just a plan.

Run, don’t walk, from General RV’s lack of integrity.

DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!!!!!!!!

Purchased our first RV 2022 Entegra ODYSSEY 31F at General RV of Ashland VA and picked it up on February 11th 2022. Right from the start there was an issue with the unit. The pump that operates the leveling jacks was faulty and needed to be replaced. Made an appointment to bring it back the first week of April with the understanding that the part would be ordered that day. We returned on the day of our appointment and was told that the part was never ordered and it would be 3 weeks to get it. We left the RV and would return to retrieve it when the part was in. We received a call from the service department that the pump was in and replaced, but now the control board was bad and that needed to be replaced. Since we planned a trip we stated that we would pick up the RV and return it when the part came in. We once again dropped it off and received a call that the board was in and functioning. We also made the service department that there were other issues (Bedroom door would not lock, decorative moulding becoming detached) Sent pictures off both issues. Was told it was fixed. The door was adjusted at such an angle just to get it almost flush. The door is not the issue. The framing where the door meets the lock is what at issue. The moulding was never repaired. It was just left like that. We only noticed when we pickup the RV and extended the slide. That is not the worst part, after we were told the leveling unit was fixed and tested. The service rep stated the tech showed her it worked. I do not believe that. We tested it for ourselves. Testing the Auto-leveling system at home the jacks came down then a error on the screen. The leveling jacks did not come up and the RV is undrivable. I went through the procedures manual for the emergency fix, it did not fix it. Sent text messages to the service dept with pictures. No response. I then went under the RV to look and behold there was an fluid leak where the pump is and now on the ground and the fluid tank was empty. It is oblivious that is was never tested. I called and spoke to Shannon. She stated that she can get me in touch with a tech over the phone to troubleshoot, I stated that would be great but since I was out of town and not near the RV it would be a lost cause. We decided to try on Sat but it was not guaranteed due to staffing issues. Since we could not do it on Sat. we decide to go to the service dept the following Sat. We arrived and stated our problem with the RV. We then met with the service dept manager and went through the issue with the leveling jacks and the leak. I asked her a simple question- When the leveling jacks are down is the fluid reservoir supposed to be empty?. Yes she said that the way the leveling jacks operate. She stated that we can have a call with the tech to troubleshoot or we can call the manufacturer. I stated to her why would I call the manufacturer for an issue that you worked on and supposedly fixed. Either I did not explain it well enough or she was trying to brush it off. I am going to assume the latter.
I the asked does this company take any responsibility or accountability on work that your service dept performed. No answer. I this point I asked what can be done. And hear it is. 1) You can call the manufacturer and troubleshoot with them.
2) You can get on the phone with our tech and troubleshoot the issue.
I then stated what happens if the problem cannot be corrected over the phone. Was told we would need to get a mobile RV tech onsite at our expense, then General RV would try to get reimbursement from the manufacturer, but it is not guaranteed. I then stated why would the manufacturer reimburse us if General RV caused the issue. No reply. I then asked for the number of the manufacturer and gave them a call. I spoke to a tech at Lippert and stated what was happening. I stated to the tech that the reservoir tank is empty and that the Service Manager at General RV stated it should be that way. He flatly stated she was wrong. You would think the service manager would have some knowledge or go ask someone that does instead of just trying to brush it all off. I went and pick up the recommended fluid for the jacks added about a quarter of the tank and behold the jacks work. General RV just pushes product and could care less about the customers when there are issues, but they have no issues trying to sell you costly warranties or expensive add-ons. You are a VIP right up to the point that you sign the paperwork. After that you are nothing, they will yes you to death or tell you what you want to hear but never follow through. I would not recommend them to my worst enemy. Go buy your RV somewhere else.
