I had very high hopes for this company…
UPDATED REVIEW:
Gelato resent the items free of charge. Unfortunately, it wasn’t up to standard, yet again… Greasy packing tube. The A2 sized print still had bends on the side. It seems like an issue with the handling during packing. Also, the A4 print had banding/ streaks which was not evident in the first copy. It was also not trimmed correctly.
They told me they would provide the fulfilment team with the feedback but it sounds like nothing has changed.
I would not recommend Gelato for printing artworks.
5 March review:
I had very high hopes for this company but unfortunately the quality disappointed. I was looking for a POD to sell my fine art prints. I made sample orders of various sizes/ paper type.
First order - I opened up the tube and it was all greasy inside. The tissue paper was also slightly greasy. The artwork came bent on the side (on fine art paper).
Second order - the artwork was pixely/ grainy (on A4) even though I am very sure I had all the right resolutions, dpi etc... this was on the archival paper.
I contacted customer service via their "Report a Problem" section. I was able to get refunded pretty quickly. That was the only great thing about the company at this point. But I don't want a refund. I want a service that will actually follow through with what it is supposed to provide. I would not be satisifed with integrating Gelato with my store unless I didn't care about quality and wanted my reputation tarnished before it even began.

Ok once I actually spoke with a HUMAN
Once I actually chatted with a HUMAN, not an AI or bot, I was able to communicate efficiently and effectively. And we resolved the problem together.
I was unable to report via the report problem page because the page failed to upload my images despite all troubleshooting with customer service. So, being able to chat with a human was crucial. I have asked that the web team be notified about the uploading issue as well.
Gelato is based on human-made production. There will always be inconsistencies and quality issues. That's ok but your customer service needs to reflect that.
Please never forget that it is critical that you keep humans on your team AND that they are accessible to your clients/customers for customer service!

We have been using Gelato as our print on demand supplier for framed prints for several months now. Our customers constantly praise the excellent quality of the prints and print frames supplied by Gelato.

Delivery issue resolved with the help of Gelato Support
When I had a customer issue arise, dealing with a damaged package, I was able to reach out to gelato support and provide them with some photos and context from the situation. Within one - two hours I received confirmation that my product would be re-printed and re-shipped to the customer. Giles helped me out with this situation and made things so easy for me. Bolstering my confidence in Gelato as the correct print on demand partner. They were swift in their approach and ensured me that any issues I may experience going forward I can count on them to both help and walk me through any situation. As a small business owner and new to this platform I was I initially worried about letting down a customer. But Giles put those concerns to rest quickly and easily. Very much appreciated this experience from my end.
