Great little shop, was tempted to purchase a few items but held back, some nice renovations going on, and looks friendly enough compared to some geek retreat shops I have visited. But sadly few weeks... See more

Scammed in the bury store
Scammed in the bury store, they refused to give a refund for missing cards in a SEALED box. Tried to accuse us of trying to scam them, after we have spent hundreds of pounds there. If your aren’t in the clique you will be treat abhorrently.
Discriminatory manager
POKEMON TCG ORDERED IN 2021 STILL NOT HERE!
Pokemon Celebrations ordered in 2021 from London Camberwell still not received.
No answers, no refund, absolute joke!
A Nat 1 in Charisma
For a store that claims to believe in equality and diversity sadly the Torquay store is severely lacking.
The staff are incompetent (Luke) - unable to perform the simplest of tasks.
I've witnessed bullying and segregation from a "DM" named (Mike) and the frequently absent manager (Nate)
The only way to improve this store would be to replace the staff members at fault.
Nice place
Nice place, nice people.
But some of the people who work there are quite rude. Me and my friend went to sit in there to chill and eat our food, my friends blood sugar was low and I was dehydrated so we needed to eat. We didn't know that you couldn't eat your own food in there, there's no sign saying so, even though we've seen others do it. And one of the workers told us that we couldn't, which is fair enough, but the way he spoke and acted towards us was not right.
Instead of coming up to us, he shouted from across the room at us and embarrassed us infront of everyone. I have really bad anxiety so for me it was scary and uncalled for and my friend has also got anxiety, so it upset her at the fact we were embarrassed by this worker.
I know it's there job, but the worker could of been more nicer to us and told us before we entered the shop.
This is in hanley geek retreat.
Geek Retreat - Stevenage
Dan and the team are amazing. We go every week and it's like being welcomed into a family. Coffee is good, games great, staff are fun and friendly.
Geek retreat Lincoln
Friendly welcoming staff and good food, the tables are a great size for board games and tgc’s with play matts, I struggle approaching people socially for games so the introduction of a table standee that reads “looking for players” or “players welcome” to put up would be a great way to cut through what can be at busy times a intimidating environment
Disappointed
I have visited Geek Retreat on a few different occasions, as I was hoping to have just caught them on a bad day the first time. However, the service has been consistently disappointing.
I understand that food is cooked on demand hence the long wait times, but it's just not reasonable to expect customers to wait almost an hour for a glass of water! The curly fries are delicious- when they're actually cooked through.
Also not impressed with the hygiene practices- handling drinks glasses by the rim (where customers drink from) is not really on, especially after a pandemic.
Staff always seem disorganised and I feel like I'm inconveniencing them every time I talk to them.
The highlight for me though has to be the music, whoever makes the playlists has good taste, but really I'd rather just bring board/card games to Costa for better food and service.
Geek Reatreat Ipswich
I always walk in to see all forms of life, bustling with excitement and joy, with no judgement of character whatsoever. Everyone likes each other, especially the staff as they make sure we have the time of our lives every time. Geek Retreat has allowed me to express myself to my fullest, and make lifelong friendships there too. If you need a place to talk about your feelings, be social, or simply have a fantastic time playing a wide variety of board, video and card games, Geek Retreat is definitely the place for you!
Decent concept - but head office need to support franchisees more
Having seen the opening of a Geek Retreat in Preston, and its subsequent controversy over the firing of staff and a subsequent restructure after just a month of being open (this is not targeted at the store, there is some serious potential to be unlocked with the right support from head office), the company as a whole has a lot of flaws at a wider head office level. Franchisees are being left totally in the dark about how to successfully run their stores, especially if they are new to this kind of business- you can't ask a community for help when your reputation has been soured as a result of unplanned closures, possibly illegal treatment of former staff, and a poor selection of stock. I urge Peter Dobson - the CEO of Geek Retreat - to visit the Preston store, speak with the two owners and help them get on their feet on a long term basis, because I genuinely don't see it lasting in its current form. Until the former staff have received apologies, their pay, and the treatment they deserve, I can not support the company whatsoever.
Geek Retreat
Visited Geek Retreat with my children and they had a great time. The staff were helpful when we asked for recommendations for Pokemon and Yu-gi-oh starter decks. We can't wait to check out their Pokemon group for kids on Saturdays!
0 Stars!!!!
I would give the geek retreat preston 0 stars if I could.
In 6th April I visited the branch in Preston, UK with some friends, one of which was in a wheal chair. Not kne staff member offered them help when they did ask no one helped.
The food was absolutely disgusting, with 4 staff members who couldn't use the oven. The £6.50 burger and chips was vile. The oven cooked burger was burnt on the outside completely, and raw kn the inside, the chips were raw and hard. It took over an hour to get a glass of coke and a cup of tea. As there was only 1 over worked member of staff at the till as the other SIX!! WHERE ST TALKING AMGUST THEM SELVES!!!
They had Yugiho cards in boxes for singers and left us unattended to go through them, there was cards that where illegal and dangerous that they where trying to sell. Over all horrendous experience!

I was a regular at Geek Retreat but…
I was a regular at Geek Retreat but during my time at Geek Retreat I was treated unfairly by the staff. The staff at Geek Retreat do not treat everyone equal as I have a learning disability but the staff at Geek Retreat do not take that in to account as I felt like I was being singled out by the staff. As the staff at Geek Retreat are not helpful or make people feel welcome I suggest that people do not attend Geek Retreat attend Patriot Games on Regent Street as they may be struggling as we are coming out of an pandemic if you would like to attend Patriot games look them up on the internet
