Rumours by Gatsby Gastronomía, Villamartin Plaza
Wednesday 12th August 2020 and we thought we'd try Rumours by Gatsby Gastronomía in the Villamartin Plaza, Southern Costa Blanca. The venue and decor are very impressive and it's comfortably air conditioner. The service left a bit to be desired as we had to ask for drinks when our waiter eventually visited our table with his order pad for starters & mains after initially turning up with a card reader. Eventually after about 45 mins we got our starters which were very nice and two mains were OK but oh boy two fillet steaks were dire I'm afraid to say and definitely not worth the wait. They were tiny, tough and certainly not medium as we requested so we sent them back. Two more emerged and were inedible, I chewed and chewed but it couldn't be swallowed so had to take it out and leave the whole thing on the plate uneaten which went without comment from the staff when he cleared. My friend battled with his and ate most of it after asking for a sharper knife. Four starters, four mains and two bottles of wine came to €150, we were offered no apologies or even a complimentary drink and the waiter clearly couldn't wait to get rid of us with a scowl on his face. Needless to say we won't be going back and I would urge caution to others as there are far far better restaurants in the Plaza 😕😕
