The crew and tour guides were excellent during our recent Tulip cruise. However, the last day we needed to be evacuated from the ship due to a fire. No one was hurt and the crew handled it well. Unf... See more

I booked the 16 days Egypt with Jordan tour. On the highlights page it said that Jordan visa is included. I booked my own flights so I called the agent to confirm visa situation. He told me that it is not, since I booked my own flight and airport transfer. He spoke to his manager and assured me this will be remedied by Gate1. After some back and forth emails and review left on this forum, a representative reached to me within hours, and let me know that I will be reimbursed for this due to the misunderstanding. Also, Gate1 will edit the highlights page to avoid future confusions. I changed my review accordingly to reflect this. I’ve had positive experiences with Gate 1 for 10 years. The quality of the packages offered and customer support deserve recognition

This was my fourth trip with Gate1, and I was very disappointed with how they handled my reservation this trip. My family’s reservation was linked to mine, as I always do when traveling. They made no effort to book our rooms next to or even close to one another this trip. This was very upsetting. We were often in rooms on different floors, towers, or buildings. Something has changed with Gate1, and I'm very disappointed they had so little regard for our accommodations. I don't think I can trust them again with my family’s vacations.

A little late on writing this review!
My husband and I had the incredible opportunity to join the 14 Day Classic Greece with Crete & Santorini Tour.
It was truly a trip of a lifetime! From the breathtaking ancient ruins to the picturesque islands, every moment of this journey was unforgettable. However, what truly made the experience exceptional was our amazing tour manger, Marianna.
From the very start, Marianna was warm, knowledgeable, and extremely organized. She made sure every detail was taken care of, allowing us to simply relax and enjoy the beauty of Greece.
She also went above and beyond to accommodate everyone's needs, offering personalized recommendations for dining, shopping, and off-the-beaten-path experiences that we would have never discovered on our own. It felt like we were traveling with a local friend who was eager to share the best of Greece with us.
The logistics were seamless, from transportation to accommodations. Marianna handled everything with grace and professionalism, making the tour smooth and enjoyable. Thank you Marianna for making our first trip with Gate1Travel a great experience!
I must add that the bus drivers were remarkable, and very skilled in navigating the sometimes very narrow and steep roads of Greece. They were also, a very important part of our trip and added to the pleasure of this awesome tour. Thanks for the smooth ride!
Looking forward to many more tours with Gate 1 Travel and would highly recommend booking with Gate 1 Travel!

I just booked a tour with gate 1 for a September safari to Kenya and Tanzania. Their customer service is very bad. If you are new booking, your phone is answered right away, however, as soon as you paid for the trip, it is Impossible to reach them, a phone call’s wait time is 45 minutes, and then you were routed to some remote call center in probably another country with bad connection, where the customer service representative is not knowledgeable and can’t help you with any thing. Very frustrating experience. Will not book with them again in future!

We just returned from a 10 day trip to Ireland. Our tour guide, Lenny, was fantastic . Very knowledgeable and adjusted our schedule seamlessly based on the weather, group desires and crowds. We couldn’t have been more happy with our first Gate1 experience (we actually just booked our second Gate1 before finishing this one!). Our driver Mike Cash was equally adept and friendly.
We were referred to Gate1 by three separate acquaintances who were all equally satisfied.

Not sure what has happened to Gate 1 Travel. We had 5 wonderful tour experiences with them in the past, but our tour in Australia last month had serious issues and the customer service response, both during the challenges and after the fact, has been abysmal. I am still fighting with insurance, bought through Gate 1, over the settlement for 1.5 days of lost itinerary due to 30+ hours of flight delays. no help at all from Gate 1. Will not risk another trip with these folks until they make significant changes.

I am happy to report after writing this review that gate 1 did reach out and credit $500. Thank you gate 1 for making this right.

Just back from a Gate One 8 day Essential South Africa Tour & I have to say it was one of the greatest experiences of my life.
The tour leader Maggie was exceptional as was our bus driver Eddie.
Both were knowledgeable , friendly & efficent.
The accommodation was excellent & Marbula Game Reserve was hands down the best experience .
The food , staff , rooms were all wonderful.
The game drives were amazing & I saw many of the big 5.
The sundowners on the africian plains was so awesome.
The dinner under a huge fig tree in the open was also exceptional , I dont know how the staff at Marbula manage this in the middle of nowhere !!!!
I am a solo female traveller & joined the Gate One tour , there was 23 of us & we all got along so well , the best travel companions ever .
Thank You Gate One & especially our tour leader Maggie & Bus driver Eddie for making this trip a magical experience.

Recently returned from a Gate 1 " Moroccan Allure" tour ~ a 15 day, small group trip that was stellar in all ways (April 2025). The trip was carefully curated to give us a wonderful overview of the country. We visited big and small cities, souks, medinas, and historic sites including Roman ruins! We drove through the Atlas Mountains, "glamped" in the Sahara, and before ending our trip in Casablanca, stayed in lovely town on the Atlantic Ocean ~Essuaouira ~ where our hotel rooms opened to the sea. Heaven. Food was great, including the fab cooking class in Marrakech, accommodations were diverse (dars, riads, kasbahs, etc.) and frequently enchanting, and our group was convivial. A small group can really make a difference. Best of all was our Tour Leader, Youssef Alfallah. Can't say enough about how pleasant, knowledgeable, kind and fun he was. He also had a great sense of humor. He remembered small details about all of us, and made each and every person on the tour feel special. He brought Morocco alive for us, and we truly fell in love with the people, culture, music, food and sites.
Spring was the perfect time for the trip. Recent rains brought superblooms of wildflowers.
We're already plotting our return!!

My husband and I went on a Seine River cruise in April 2025 with a 2-day Paris extension. I couldn't have been more happy with our experience. Even with the challenges of touring during the Easter holiday, the staff, especially Nad and Kristina, went out of their way to make sure our needs were taken care of. We will definitely tour with Gate 1 again.

I did a Gate 1 week-long tour to Slovenia and had a nice time. Our guide Marina was knowledgable, funny, and super smart. The hotel was nice and centrally located, our daily tours were always a lot of fun and even though our group had around 31 people, it didn't feel crowded. Everyone we spoke with on our tour had already been on 4, 10, or even 60 prior Gate 1 trips. That tells you all you need to know.

Traveled with them eight times to date. Great value for the price. Best parts of a Gate 1 trip are: great hotel locations, great tour managers, included meals, clean buses, well planned itineraries. Bad parts: other travelers with unfulfillable demands, travelers who do not read the Terms & Conditions and travelers who expect a champagne trip on a beer budget.

I have an upcoming trip scheduled with a friend to Italy and have spent weeks trying to update our seats. I understand there is a cost. First I was told the upgrade would be $3000-$4000 EACH. I told them I would get back to them. My original flight was to return by 6:59pm - it has now been changed to 11:59pm with a 6+ hour layover. I tried to change the flight with the airline who directed me to gate1. I was told to change the flight I had to cancel the trip and start over. I then contacted the airline to simply upgrade the seats. My travel companion could be upgraded but I could not due to the manner in which Gate1 "coded" my ticked. The airline stated I needed to contact Gate1 and have them recode. I reached out to Gate 1 NUMEROUS times and and they refuse to recode my ticket even after I told them what the airline said. I have reached out again but get no response. The trip is still planned but it would be nice if Gate 1 was a bit more responsive.
My first adventure with Gate 1 was fine, Ireland, but this time the customer service is simply subpar

I thought Gate 1 was a good company, but it’s not. Everything is substandard! On a recent tour with them there was a safety issue and they couldn’t care less.

We used gate 1 for the first time for our travels to Greece. We were very impressed with the ease of travel. We were picked up from the airport and met our guide Angela/Άντζελα. She was fantastic! Very knowledgeable and she went above and beyond to make the trip memorable. By far the best guide I've had on an international trip. Gate 1 handled all travel from city to city and we didn't have to worry about booking hotels or carrying luggage everywhere. Would definitely book another trip.

I booked a connecting flight with China Southern with gate 1. It was an 16 hours flight. Had really good experience with Gate 1. Is always seems scary to book when the reviews are bad, but this is mostly because of causes Gate 1 can't helped. So I decided to write a review. I had a good experience, so I booked my flight back home with Gate 1 as well. I already got my tickets within a few hours.

My experiences have been varied. Mostly great. One tour the guide was very knowledgeable but snarky, witchy disposition. Most recently, absolutely HORRID hotel!! Why idk. There were so many others in the area.
My first trip with Gate1 was stellar. The recent trip was good but that old, smelly hotel has left me feeling uneasy.

Tour guide provided local color constantly. She was our England Scotland guide and was wonderful. I loved the big hotel breakfasts and lots of activities and sites crammed into 8 days. Tiring but we experienced it all!

The people of Zanzibar are wonderful!! so I hate to complain about the country. However . . .
Unfortunately, Zanzibar island is extremely unsanitary and there currently is an outbreak of monkey pox in Stone Town. The President of Tanzania has a video in the airports warning about the outbreak with symptoms, etc. and telling people who have it to isolate - they don't. We saw people swimming, walking on the beach, working in stalls, and just walking around and they are covered in monkey pox. It is extreme frightening and disturbing to see. When I reported this to Gate 1 and said they should not send travelers there, this was their response . . .
"We understand your concerns about cleanliness, and while our experience and feedback from many other passengers have been positive, we acknowledge that individual impressions can vary. Zanzibar's Old Town, for instance, is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and while its historic character may not appeal to everyone, it remains a point of pride for the region."
So looks like they're blaming me. I then checked their Better Business Bureau report and they are rated F so I guess we shouldn't be surprised.
See for yourself - ourbreak has now reached Zanzibar.

I've traveled several tours with Gate 1 before Covid. All were excellent value which made me return to book a tour to Morocco in Sept '24. This was my last tour I will ever go on with thus company. The itinerary was awful! In Marrakesh we saw nothing more than snother old market, but the casbah was cancelled. Of course they took us to some old structure that no one really cared about, and didn't add anything to to experience the flavor of the city. Hotel Mamounian, which is world famous wasn't even mentioned, and definitely not offered as a private tour. Just freaking awful itinerary! Didn't visit Tangiers, Agadir, St Laurent museum, just a lot of uninteresting places in the Atlas mountains. Mostly just more old market places. Never again! Prices were higher and the value decreased. Mediocre hotels and any dinners/ lunches/were OK. Just another mass pack'em in travel tour company.
Bye bye Gate 1
Response to Gate 1 response Another Lie, no one called or emailed me. I will never use of recommend your services again. You've really went downhill as a company
