Very well made new trellis toppers (arched)
Needed some new trellis toppers to replace ones that had gone rotten and falling apart. Nice choice of styles and was able to get the exact height, width and curve that I needed to match the rest of the fence. These seem very well made compared to the old ones I had, and hoping that they will last a good time. Quick service and painless delivery and all in all extremely pleased with purchase.

Ordered an unpainted natural wood
Ordered an unpainted natural wood colour to match the three panels I have already bought from “Garden Trellis”
Although the trellis is well made, it is of a heavier
thicker wood, and mismatches my 3 fitted trellis sections, from “Garden Trellis” in colour and manufacture.

The original panels you previously ordered were from our standard range, whereas the panel you most recently ordered was from our RHS Prestige range.
The RHS Prestige range is manufactured using Thermally Treated Timber and the framing and slat are thicker, which is why it differed slightly in both construction and colour from the standard range panels you already had installed.
We can see that this has now been resolved and that a matching panel has since been delivered to you. If you need any assistance with future orders, please don’t hesitate to contact us and we’ll be happy to help.

Very bad service on trellis which fell apart
Very bad! Just complained about a trellis which we bought and it literally fell apart. You wouldnt believe it. They said I put it up wrong - but they sent no assembly instructions?!? Asked for a discount to replace it and they offered me nothing. Never use them again!

Having reviewed your order, the panels were purchased over three years outside of the stated warranty period. While we would not normally expect panels to fail, the images provided show the trellis tied to a low roof terrace railing, with a significant portion of the panel unsupported and exposed to movement. In windy conditions, this type of installation would unfortunately place considerable strain on the structure and can cause panels to come apart.
As outlined in our online guides and on the product page, trellis panels must be secured to appropriately installed posts to ensure stability. Because installations vary widely depending on the setting and intended use, we do not supply bespoke fitting instructions with each order. We provide guidance resources to help customers plan their installation, including advice on suitable posts and support requirements. Where customers are unsure, we would recommend either using our own installation service or seek advice from their preferred installer.
While we’re unable to offer free of charge replacements or the level of discount requested in this instance, we did offer a goodwill 10% discount should you wish to replace them, along with advice on how best to install the new panels to prevent recurrence.
We are always happy to offer advice before purchase to help ensure the correct products selected.
Not a good as expected
The timber of the slatted wall topper panel looks to be well treated with preservative so should ward off rot and insect infestation. However, I’m highly dubious if the flimsy sections of timber used and the stapled construction will stand the test of time, it all feels a bit ‘lightweight’. The spiked post were chunky enough for the job but required the installer to spend much more time getting them set as 4 out of the 5 delivered had the steel rods inserted at an angle which then necessitated larger holes to be bored in the bricks and longer curing time for the resin fixing…and cost to me.
Overall, the Jacksons Fencing alternative would probably have been significantly better for just a little more.

Regarding the construction of the slatted wall topper panels, we’d like to note that we clearly state the size and specification of all timbers used on our website, allowing customers to make a fully informed choice prior to purchase.
With reference to your comparison with an alternative supplier, it can be difficult to make a like-for-like comparison, as some manufacturers do not advertise the timber sizes used in their panels. We do, however, offer a wide variety of fencing and topper panels with differing specifications to suit different requirements and budgets. Our RHS Prestige range is our most robust option, and while this is reflected in the price, we recognise that it may not be suitable or affordable for every customer. For this reason, we aim to provide the best possible solution based on individual budgets and needs.
We’re particularly concerned to hear about the issues you experienced with the spiked posts. The steel studding is inserted by machine specifically to ensure accuracy and consistency, so we’re unable to see how this would normally occur. If possible, we would appreciate it if you could send us images of the angled studding so we can investigate this further.

Excellent customer service. The quality of the privacy panels I received is top notch. I did have a short wait for the panels to be made up and painted but it was worth the wait. Now fitted they look excellent.

Very disappointed
Very disappointed with the quality of two items I received from this company. After researching to find what sounded like a reputable quality manufacturer, I chose the Garden Trellis Company and ordered two trellis panels, two posts and two post toppers.
When they arrived, one panel and one post were substandard. Large unsightly knots likely to affect the durability of the product, splits in the wood, gapping in the joinery, rough unfinished surfaces - very poor.
When I emailed the company to let them know, the response was that they felt this was acceptable as part of their standard range rather than the “premium” RHS range. Given that the panel and post cost just shy of £250 plus the delivery cost, I disagree I’m afraid, and frankly I may as well have bought from one of the large DIY chain stores.

Timber is a natural product, so features such as knots and slight movement in the wood are naturally occurring and not considered faults. If a knot had been loose or fallen out, we would of course have replaced the panel, but the image you shared showed it was intact and would not affect the strength or integrity of the product.
The panels you ordered are from our standard range, which differs from our RHS Prestige range. The Prestige panels are handmade by our team of joiners here in Essex, using low-knot, smooth-sanded timber with mitred corners and screwed joints for added durability. By comparison, our standard bought-in panels use nest and pin corners (not screwed) and are more economical, which is reflected both in their finish and price. For example, the comparable RHS Prestige panel is £433, whereas the standard panel is £222. The images and descriptions on our website are accurate representations of each range, and the products supplied to you matched these.
We do understand that some customers expect the premium specifications of our Prestige range when ordering our standard panels, and we try to make the differences as clear as possible. We also offered you the option to return your order for a refund when it wasn’t what you expected, but understand you chose not to take this up.
We value your feedback and will continue to improve how we communicate the differences between our ranges so customers can choose the option that best suits their needs.
