Decent kits and paints, abysmal processing and shipping.

Decent kits and paints. Would be nice if they actually processed orders within any reasonable time period. My advice is to buy from second hand vendors as the vast majority of them will have what you need at lower prices and much faster processing times (like we're talking cutting a 2-4 week processing time to just a few days processing time in most cases, on top of costing about 80-90% the price.)

Do your wallet and your backlog a favor and order from elsewhere. There's really no reason to pay $5+ for some tiny paint pots of mediocre paint and then have to wait a month to get them too.

I love this companies products

I love this companies products, even though they are very overpriced and getting worse by the year, the plastic addiction is too strong to resist. I would recommend that anyone who can should visit a store rather than use the website when possible, the staff are extremely helpful and polite and really make you feel appreciated. (I have seen a lot of staff come and go over my 30 years collecting, and even as a kid I always left feeling like I was a valued customer).

You will get your pre-order...eventually.

With response times that would make a veteran bureaucrat proud, you can expect nothing but the worst customer service from Games Workshop.

If you pre-order, be prepared - you're not buying a product, you're negotiating with the customer service version of Darth Vader: - we promised you shipping times within 3-5 business days...oops, it arrived 5 weeks later. Pray we do not alter your delivery times further. Great products, but do yourself a favor and do not buy via their online store, buy elsewhere.

Deceptive advertising and bad customer service

Ordered a box of miniatures and it came with pieces missing, but it was advertised as having those pieces. After the Kill Team Nachmund box released and people complained the crane antenna was missing, Games Workshop simply changed the pictures on their advertising to hide the fact that they were misleading with their pictures. The Customer services took months to respond and finally responded with: "kitbash your own piece from bits you already have".

Good quality, well priced minis/games

I won't pretend to have a lot of experience with GW or Warhammer, but from the few products I have purchased as starter sets, in the last few weeks, from Amazon, they seem very well put together and very detailed. I did experience a situation where you had to be very gentle with some models, if too much pressure. But this is a learning curve really.

Good product poor logistics/system to buy from

Certainly an interesting company with some very cool models and fluff to suck you in. The ordering process however really lets things down. The web store and the stock system are apparently not directly linked. This means when you place an order the items may or may not be in stock. Chatting to the helpdesk folks via web chat doesn't get you an update on what is actually happening especially at a weekend when the logistics folks are obviously off. If you have to buy anything better to go through an independent web store where the stock levels are shown on their web site and they typically offer same or next day shipping which GW don't appear to be able to deliver. The independents also give you updates of where your order is which once again GW don't appear to do. Given the number of similar reviews I am surprised GW are happy to let their brand suffer so badly because of something they could fix.

Bought my first miniatures

Bought my first miniatures, but instead of coming in the box shown on the website, it was delivered in a boring white box...
No reference, not put together manual, nothing. Absolutely not worth the high price tags.

If there was a zero star i would give games workshop customer service zero stars.
I ordered a codex the day it was released and a month later I still have not received it. I called customer service and they guy was pretty unapathetic on the phone. I pay an ARM and a LEG for their OVERPRICED product and they just don't give a **** about their customers. Absolutely a horrible company service wise.

Utterly disastrous experience

Utterly disastrous experience. No confirmation of order sent, no tracking number, no communications at all. I contacted customer support and they told me the package has been delivered... where? A shop about 5km from where I live. I'm absolutely appalled by their service and the complete indifference of the customer support team.

GW and UPS worked together to make sure my package got sent back before I could pick it up. The original package contained apart from joytoy marines, a free model available (castus) for a certain order amount. GW didnt provide UPS with the correct delivery adress and responded so slowly that UPS somehow figured they would send the package back. GW finds a replacement for the joytoy marines and sends it to me, but without the free castus model. GW loses my castus model and I dont get compensated. How is this even possible from a customer relations perspective?
Such bad form.

Damaged Items Consantly Being Shipped. Ridiculous Support Times.

Recently had two orders get shipped to me with damaged goods. Note the delivery from post was fine. You can tell by looking at the boxes. It was obvious the items were damaged before being shipped in the first place.

Games Workshop (GW)'s customer service appears to no longer exist here in Australia. Codex I got had a broken spine which became obvious after unwrapping the plastic. I asked for a replacement and showed images of the issue. I had to wait 3-5 working days for GW to reply. It took GW 5-6 working days to notify me that they would ship me a replacement. Then another 5 workings days to confirm they shipped the replacement item. Took about 20-22 working days, from when I first ordered, to get a good copy of the item.

On the 2nd order, I was shipped a clearly damaged book. I asked why they seem to keep shipping damaged items to me and asked for a replacement after confirming online that they did still have the item in stock. I had to wait 2-3 working days for a reply. I was told the item was not in stock. I checked again. It clearly was. Was offered a discount coupon to use only at GW and was told if I was okay with it. I rejected it and told them it was not okay. I asked again why they keep shipping damaged items. In the meantime, instead of waiting 20 working days again, I just called my local GW store. They had the item in stock. I bought a perfect copy there. Sent an image of both copies. Requesting a full refund and stated that I would be happy to ship back the damaged item that GW clearly wants to sell. I received a sarcastic reply 1-2 working days later and a shipping address to return the item. They ignored my question about the constant damaged goods. 10 working days later I got an email thanking me for sending them an email (? - huh) and the refund would usually take 3-5 working days. It's been 4 working days so far.

In the past. You could call or send an email to someone in Sydney. The issue was resolved immediately or the next business day. They also didn't ship me any clearly damaged items.

Regardless, I was reluctant to shop at GW. There are many other hobbies that exist nowadays. But this really sealed the deal. No more thank you.

GW has many issues. Mono-pose models and pricing has hurt this hobby. Pricing in countries like Australia and New Zealand is mathematically confusing (cheaper to import from UK off eBay... So much cheaper). GW rejects and continues to deliberately ignore criticism.

For a company that has made massive increases in profits. I think it's fair to say we can see where they are increasing prices and cutting costs to make that profit.

Great product support, shipping time random.

I purchased a box set from a local hobby shop that was available for pre-order back in August 2021. I didn’t open the box set for about 6 months and that’s when I realized one of the sprue terrain pieces was missing. I e-mailed Games Workshop and sent proof of purchase. They sent out the full terrain set as replacement. The Issue was resolved within 3 days. They made me feel like a valued customer.

Untrustworthy and arrogant company.

Games workshop mis-declared my orders which resulted in undue import taxes. Despite many attempts to point out to them that I had to pay taxes because of their mistake, their customer service kept hiding behind their clause that they are not liable for any import taxes.

Stole my money

I have been waiting for my item for over a month now. Nobody at their "customer service" is helping me or seems to care at all. Shame how little they value their customers. I am trying to get a refund as I never received the product, but so far nothing! These thieves will steal your money then ignore you afterwards.

After playing games from GW from the…

After playing games from GW from the 80’s to the early 2000’s all I can say is this company is dog vomit. I still have to see a wall of this garbage in every game store I enter.
Pros
- some great classic games
- some great looking minis ( SOME )
Cons
- flaming hot dumpster fire game systems & broken rule sets
- constant power creep
- remaking classic games with idiot rules for dummies
- constant price increases
- having to play the game with mindless fanboys who enjoy getting raped by GW and can not understand all the hate directed at this garbage company.

Find a good group of friends download 1ed rules 40k rogue trader or fantasy and use minis from other company’s!
It will be more fun than dealing with the current crap show they call a game.

Been in the hobby 28 years.

Been in the hobby 28 years.

Incredibly poor service in recent years dropping off a cliff edge, regularly changes products on pre order changing future support and contents after purchase.

Have recently made a large show of going after the fan community which has caused large scale backlash and boycotts leading to a 25% loss in stock over the last 3 months alone and dropping like a stone.

Also employees and shills are being asked to leave positive reviews calling bad reviews fake.

Model wise (which should be the important bit), in recent years though quality has gone up now has allot of competition that cast to the same or higher quality with GW products 3-4 times more expensive.
However with new releases they are being designed with single build poses removing player choice and making even kitbashing a serious headache.
Example: prior models had separate legs, arms, torsos, heads and with flat or ball joints for posing.
Recent kits have the single lower leg of one model with the knee directly attaching to part of the back and the face of the model to prevent choice, the instructions must be followed or you will not have a clue.

Rules wise we are now again over suplimented where a single force can require 4+ rule books, combine that with the now quick rereleasing of army books (often with day one errata’s) and warhammer seasons which requires you to buy a new book every 6 months on top of supplement rules, campaign book rules, army and edition which leads to you needing now minimum 3 books a year to continue being able to use your products effectively or you will be stomped due to power creep which is the tool used to drive marketing forwards.

In short, play the game because you like the models but never expect good deals, rules or support from the company itself and if you don’t attend gw direct events feel free to use the models you like the most, 3rd party or otherwise, games workshop can’t dictate how you enjoy your hobby though they try.

Call customer service

Update: I decided to skip dealing with email customer service and call. Received a call from gw, night and day difference! They completely took care of everything, definitely better than the email agent. *****
I ordered 5 knights. I received 4 knights, two not sealed. One is a knight I didn't order. Emailed customer service, they say return for refund or exchange, sealed etc. My cost to return, up to 5 weeks to get any action taken... NOPE. How about refund for missing knight and discount the one I received in error?
