My experience with the Fort Wayne Urban…"All that glitters is not gold."
My experience with the Fort Wayne Urban League (FWUL) was stressful. I wan an independent educational tutor contractor for 2.5 years. I am a certified teacher of 35+ years. During my time there I experieced and/or observed mediocre management and poor leadership presented as "excellence" because externally the environment was well decorated. In reality the ingredients of unnecessary control, intimidation, mistrust, avoidance, narcissium, lack of accountability, external beautification, gaslighting, denial, indifference, toxicity, lack of consideration/conscience, defensiveness, pretense, ill intent, unchecked authority all combined to make a stew of a toxic environment. It was there that I tasted "nasty nice." However, I successfully completed my assignment and walked away with no intent to refer anyone for employment at this organization under the current self-serving management wearing a mask of genuine concern. "All that glitters is not gold." I am extremely disappointed that an organization which has the mission of advocating for people of color has so callously mishandled many people of color in this community.
