This is the second Featherlite car…

This is the second Featherlite car hauler that I have purchased new. They both have not disappointed. They appear to be constructed well. I could have saved some money by getting one fabricated locally but wanted the engineering that is behind Featherlite.

I would have given 5 stars but the only…

I would have given 5 stars but the only thing I am unhappy with is the saddle rack and bridle hook package I added. If I would have known the bridle hooks were plastic I would have built my own so they would last! And the saddle rack is also very cheap built, it comes unlatched after goin on a dirt road, and also the saddles don’t fit very well, you scratch your horn trying to get it on the rack all the way. I am very satisfied with the rest of the trailer it seems very well built and is in style going down the road.

Weak safety latch

Trailer is great except for the safety latch on the back door....within first month of getting the trailer home the weld on the safety latch cracked and the cattle slammed the door open almost taking out my hired hand. The salesman had actually focused on the safety latch and the reinforced welds but they failed.

36ft gooseneck car trailer

I purchased a 36ft gooseneck car trailer and the quality of the structure of the trailer is what I expect from Featherlite. On the other hand, the quality of the wiring was terrible and not up to the standard of a $58,000 trailer. The 110v ceiling lights would trip a GFI outlet when the trailer was plugged in to shore power and the 12v wiring was not wrapped together and secured neatly. The marker lights wiring has a 1 into 2 splitter for every light off the main harness, you would think they would have a pre-made harness for the lights. On the good side, the trailer tows like a dream.

I bought a very expensive trailer from…

I bought a very expensive trailer from what is supposed to be the best all around trailer. I was unfamiliar with the dot and mc carrier laws after i purchased the trailer i relized it was way over rated for me and i would need a cdl lic to drive the truck and trailer combo. I called and asked if i could have the trailer underrated and have the gvw lowered and was told it was not possible. I called the dealer and ask if they would trade me out of it for lower gvw trailer and was told sure and they offered me 30k for the trailer that i bought a month prior for 44k. I was prepared to lose some money but that was crazy. I called sundowner and they told me if i bought one of their trailers they could gvw it for what i needed. So at this point i have a 40 some thousand dollar yard ornament i cant do anything with. Pretty sad i cant get any help so that i can use a trailer that i bought and it has to sit here as i continue to pay monthly on it. I own thre very succesful harley dealerhips and would never treat my customers the way that ive been treated in this whole deal. I would not ever recomend your trailers to anyone and i will always tell people about my poor experience with you guys. Feel free to cantact me with questions. 407-948-5853

We have owned featherlite trailers…

We have owned featherlite trailers since 1991 and been very satisfied
until our 2018 28'trailer. The end gate in this trailer has always been hard to close and I think it is sprung. We love the capacity of this trailer but for this reason are not very happy with it. Also the latches that hold gates open are to stiff. I had part of the spring removed so we could use them.

This is my second Featherlite trailer

This is my second Featherlite trailer. A slate load, gooseneck is
my present trailer, having prieviously owed a straight load.
After enjoying my first Feartherlite for 7 years, I was pleased at
the resale price I recieved. Feartherlite trailers are made with attention to detail, with knowledge of a horse persons needs.

I love this trailer

I love this trailer, Easy to Hook Up, a dream to pull. Most importantly my horses are comfortable with plenty of air flow, great stall size and easy access when loading and unloading. The only thing I would change is possible a lock back system for the partitions when loading and unloading and a Rear load light should be standard on all trailers, not a add on.

Poor Workmanship/Useless Warranty

I have a 2017 two horse straight load trailer. It is housed inside my shop when not at horse shows. Gets light, regular use hauling one horse. It would be in mint condition, if it wasn't falling apart. The skin on the inner and outer part of the escape door on the right side is slipping out of its frame. It is not even 2 years old. Featherlight won't warrant it because "they don't manufacture the doors" (apparently they didn't start the "3 yr warranty" until after 2017 anyway). This is a problem obviously due shoddy workmanship. I now have to purchase a new door. Besides this, the latch strike plate system on all the doors is horrible. The phillips screw loosens, the strike plate moves and then you find yourself driving down the road with the door flapping open, or begging a screw driver off a friend at a horse show. I finally got the dealer to get them tightened so they don't do this, but that should never have been. Finally, who in their right mind would include plastic as a part of the hitch? - especially one that is not easy to get securely on the ball.

Great Buy!

Smooth inside walls makes for an easy cleanup. Slam gates work great. Tows great. I never thought I would have a 24’ trailer.

Security

First thing to do when you get this trailer is secure ramps and fenders from theft. I understand to replace the ramps cost about a $1000.00 each. No idea on the fenders. Both of these items should come with locks from Featherlite.
