We have no hesitation in recommending Franklins Removals. They moved our 25m3 from South West France, I to storage for 5 months and then into our new UK home. Both crews were superb and nothing was... See more

Moving house
We had a wonderful experience moving house using this company. Big thank you to Ben and Beverly for organising it and to Paul Kieran and Dave for such a smooth transition from one address to another. They worked so hard well done. Fully recommend them 👌
Good experience overall with Franklins…
Good experience overall with Franklins Removals! The communication was clear since the get go, thanks to Bev. Paul and Jamie came to pick up our things in the NL and were very kind and helpful. Zac and Jamie delivered them in our new home in the UK and were great too.
As the volume of our move was relatively small, we had to wait a bit to know exactly when the truck will come, but everything worked well at the end.
I would definitely recommend Franklins Removals!

Franklin Removal - Zak and Dave
Zak and Dave from Franklin Removal have just completed multiple moves from two different addresses. Excellent service, helpful, polite and friendly. Made everything very stress free.

Amazing service from Franklins
Amazing service from Franklins, would highly recommend to anyone! Moved us to France 8 years ago and recently move us from France back to the UK. Great team of guys, polite, friendly, efficient. All of our goods were handled with great care and everything collected arrived perfectly. Office team also very responsive via email. Thanks Franklins!
Irriplacable childhood memories lost
Irriplacable childhood memories and a filing cabinet with files were lost, and my mirror was broken.
By far the worst experience I've had with any company in my life. Please think twice before using this service for your property and read this in it's entirety before trusting them.
To start off, communication was insanely bad - my questions went unanswered many times and when I made my payment they didn't respond to me for a week, making me believe I might be scammed - but no, their communication was simply awful. I had to ask multiple times for things and my requests were not met over and over.
The moving company arrived in the exact timeframe I requested them not to, making everything very complicated. When they arrived the movers were not told that they were supposed to walk 150m to collect my stuff, which I payed £400 extra for. They also confirmed they would never see any of that money - so where is that extra cost for that walk going??
Then, of the very little stuff they needed to move, they managed to loose my filing cabinet, break my mirror and also loose the only irriplacable item in my stuff - a box full of childhood memories. Drawings I made as a kid, raport cards from primary school, my entire identity was in that box.
Not just that, but we received 2 items that werent ours - a box with a lamp in it and a huge box of tools - you'd think it would be easy to figure out where my box went by tracing these two rogue boxes - but no, nothing was found.
They then don't respond to me until I send an e-mail twice and never follow up until I once again have to ask for clarification on what happened to my stuff a third time. My stuff was never found, they have been completely and utterly useless in communication regarding it and I would never recommend their services to anybody.
Edit: After making this review Franklins reached out to me saying they would try to find my stuff, which they did a few days later.
They found my stuff which got delivered about a month after, and sent me a refund for my mirror so I could get a new one.
Stuff arrived well in the end but communication wasn't good until I made a bad review, which they seemed quite unhappy with. Glad they found it in the end though, thank you.

Super Service Moving From A to B
From start to finish Bev was our biggest asset with the move, at times I was in panic mode and she simplified everything, she talked to me in Laymans terms. Darren and Paul at the German end turned up 6 hours after they called us (put me into panic mode again) but they arrived, viewed the house contents, then they got on with the job in hand, and were finished in record time, I helped a little bit too, and got them both a cold drink and an ice cream lolly :-) At the UK end the 2 guys arrived a day earlier than was first planned, which suited us, and they emptied the truck in record time too. We have found no breakages or damaged furniture, which tells you just how professional they all are at Franklins. But honestly Bev for me is the complete backbone of the company, she practices her job so competently, that leaves you feeling content, whether per email or on the phone.
Excellent service, highly recommended!
Clint and Jamie moved us from The Netherlands to the UK. They provided an excellent service, were friendly and professional - doing all they could to make the service smooth, keeping us informed along the way.
Bev was great when arranging the move and communication was good throughout.
You can tell they’ve been doing this a long time! Highly recommended!

Very poor experience and incomplete move
Moving from France to UK, part load. Very poor experience. Franklins were due to arrive on the Thursday but arrived just after midnight. Had to leave at 2pm to catch their ferry, leaving move incomplete. They had booked 9 moves for the trip, one of which they didn't do at all due to access issues. Then difficult communicating to get a refund. I was told the relevant department don't have a phone because they're too busy to answer one, then they didn't reply to emails for several days. Finally got a part refund but not commensurate with the proportion of the move that wasn't completed nor the expense that I am left with to arrange to complete the move. Lucky I still have access to the house.
I had travelled to France on the Wednesday because the movers were due to arrive on Thursday. I did not receive any communication from them until 6pm Thursday when I received a text that they would be leaving Paris at 6:30pm and wouldn't be with me until 11:30pm. They arrived just after midnight. They began the move at 7:15am or so the following morning. However, they subsequently advised me that they had to leave to catch a ferry at 2pm. This was clearly not enough time to complete the move along with the packing service that I had paid for and they also avoided removing any bulky items on the basis that there would need to be another removal anyway. Two boxes were not packed properly and had collapsed on delivery. They pointed out some mouse activity which meant they would not move some items in proximity which I accepted and saved a little time that would otherwise have been needed to move those items.
It is worth noting that I had previously had two separate removals of items from the UK to this same address in France (not with Franklins) and both had completed entirely satisfactorily.
After this (partial) move I would recommend anyone considering an international move to:
a) not use Franklins.
b) before accepting a quote to be clear what happens if the movers do not arrive on time or are otherwise unable to complete the move
c) clarify how long they expect the move and any packing to take and be confident it seems reasonable to you. Franklins subsequently argued that the time they were there would be sufficient to complete the move when it very clearly wasn't
d) to be clear what any refund would be for a incomplete move and any circumstances under which the movers might blame you for any failure to complete the move to the agreed schedule or to reduce a refund. Logically, a refund should be at the very least proportional to the part of the move not completed and ought to be more than that if you are left with arranging another move. Franklins ultimately offered approximately 25% of the quoted price in refund whilst having packed less than half and delivered (according to them) two thirds of the allocated load.

Done on their terms
I am leaving an honest review. I could have gone with another company for £1000 less, but I chose Franklins because of the reviews and knowing my move would be difficult I needed a company I could trust. I liked their vans and branding, and it looks professional.
The good: They turned up and did the loads. Lots of uniformed staff. Big and strong. Most was loaded the day before the move, and the remainder on the day of the move as planned. Everything big was moved and handled despite my doubts, including washing machine, dryer and generator, all of which they carried in the air and loaded onto the truck without a tail-lift. I put this down to the strength and skill of the individuals involved. Although delivery spill-over was planned for the Saturday, this wasn't needed and it was completed on Friday (move-day). They seemed to know this would be the case Friday morning, but apparently not at the time they provided the quote for a 3-day service. So far nothing seems broken or missing.
The bad #1: Everything they did seemed to be in a massive rush and it was chaotic. They would not accept the moving plan directions sheet which I had prepared for them. Lots of workers took items from different places all over the place, so it was impossible to keep track of what was being done to get ahead of them in terms of dismantling things like the bed, etc. I wanted more structure to the 'removal' process because certain items were to be left behind. On the 'delivery' side, I was very disappointed that boxes were not sent to their marked destination, despite purchasing boxes with room labels on it, these were ignored. Lots of boxes found in the garage were clearly marked 'kitchen', for example. I had to try my best to keep on top of reading boxes for 'fragile' or 'breakables' markings because they were just not reading any text on the boxes. Very rarely was I asked where something would go. Jamie was the only one to respect the box-specific instructions.
The bad #2: On the move day they were in a rush to finish loading the small van with the remaining items, so they could disappear back to base. I was told they can be present to load up until 12:00, and keys were expected ~13:30. Considering that the move is a quarter-of-a-mile to the next road, I was astounded and baffled to learn that they were in a hurry to leave me and drive all of my goods on a 36 mile round trip back to their base so that they could do "other jobs[/work]" at their warehouse. For £4,600 I thought they might hang around. Was not informed about this plan in advance, and was told "that's how it works" by a young lad with attitude, and was told to ring the office.
The bad #3: Part of the move entailed moving boxes from storage, and the date for this was not given to me ahead of time. After doing the move on the Friday, I asked when the collection from storage would be, and was told Wednesday. We realised that we needed time to rearrange and make space to receive the boxes from storage. So I called them Saturday, Sunday and Monday (bank holiday) but they were closed. So I left a voice-mail saying we need to defer the storage pickup. Tuesday morning they hadn't rung me back, so I called to defer the storage move, and they told me there would be a "50% cancellation charge" for "late notice". I was not happy at all about this, because I did not set Wednesday as the move date for the storage, and I'd been trying to tell them since Saturday. They were not flexible at all. So I had to run around making space on Tuesday to be ready to receive the boxes from storage the following day. Also £600 to move the boxes from storage was very steep, considering I filled it with boxes myself for next to nothing with my EV car.
The ugly: They offered me some boxes for remaining bits and pieces, the day before our move. Since they placed them in our lounge and said: "There's some boxes for you there", I was not expecting to receive a 2nd invoice for £115.20 for 30 boxes and 3 rolls of tape. Then they sent me a text message the night before basically saying if I don't pay it then they won't turn up to move the storage. So they held my storage move to ransom even though I had already paid for that in full. This kind of behavior is immoral and should be illegal! Will never use a company like this that plays such dirty tricks.
In conclusion, I would say they just want to do everything their way on their terms, and you have no say in the matter. At £1100 more then Pickfords, I feel robbed and disappointed. At least the move is done.
