I have a 2023 Ford escape I don’t know these automated systems with the sensors they will make you have an accident before you know it. They think they’re protecting you from having an accident when in all natural reality they will cause an accident first do not press on my brakes for me. I’m so sick of these cars. I will never get Ford again. These sensors are so dumb never press on a person breaks. That’s the worst thing that the car can possibly do that will cause an accident before youThese cars are pretty much dumb. And they always need maintenance for just have some horrible making cars.

Ford expedition 2022 lift gate and roof

So this is Part one of a two part review. This is mainly meant for Ford of Canada and I will try and leave a review elsewhere. I left this with Planet Ford as this is the dealership I had purchased the Vehicle from.

The Issue: Damaged lift gate spoiler and roof on a 2022 Ford Expedition.

The problem: I arrived home from a ski trip up North in Mono Ontario (Hockley Valley resort) On the weekend of January 12, 2025. I proceeded to remove the skies and equipment from the SUV by opening the powered lift gate. Just before the lift gate reached the fully open position, I heard a very loud crunching and snapping noise coming from the top of the gate. The opening mechanism continued to open the gate to the fully open position. During the opening, I noticed a layer of Ice and snow had built up on the roof and lift gate. This must have built up while traveling. The Ice must have slipped between the plastic spoiler and roof while opening, causing the ice to damage both the roof and the plastic spoiler.

I had brought the vehicle into the Planet Ford Dealership Service (905) 451-1040 January 21. The Service advisor is Michelle Burns and the Service manager is Kelly Demetriou. The service department had taken photos and asked me to take the vehicle into their body shop (Performance Collision Brampton) for estimation of damage. The Bodyshop then took further pictures and provided the quote to Michelle.

March 21st and I am still waiting for a final decision from Ford of Canada. Apparently discussions have been going back and forth between the dealership and Ford of Canada and so far they are only willing to replace the spoiler, leaving the aluminum roof as is. The roof is apparently the most expensive portion of the repair.

The dealership had said that Ford recommends I go through insurance for the repair, which would of course have me incur a $500.00 deductible.

During this exhaustive process I had done some research and found a ford expedition online forum in the US. (LINK: expeditionforum.com threads/2022-expedition-cracked-roof-panel-cracked-lift-gate-spoiler.52411/page-22)

This shows many others with the same issue. Someone had actually found an internal plant message addressing a concern with the spoiler being installed incorrectly during the time my Expedition was manufactured.

Once I had found this, I brought it to the dealership. A few days later they had told me that there was both a Canadian and American version of this broadcast.

After this evidence of Ford knowing of a problem, why was there no recall issued and why do they agree to repair the spoiler but not the roof? This baffles me. I have asked for a copy of the communication between Ford of Canada and the Planet Ford dealership and was told by Michelle that they are not allowed to provide that information! No transparency here. :-/

I have also taken a couple photos available at request.

I have been approved by the insurance company to have the repairs done at the expense of the deductible, but would prefer Ford fix all of the damage as it was fully caused by incorrect installation of the spoiler. I'd also like to have some sort of compensation for time spent and fuel due to multiple trips trying to get this resolved.

It is now April 9th, 2025, the ball is once again in Ford's court and has been for an additional week. If I do not receive compensation I will no longer purchase vehicles from Ford and I will be sure to tell everyone I know of this dreadful experience. I will also get my vehicles serviced elsewhere. I have purchased 5 ford vehicles over 30 years. That loyalty may just be terminated as its obviously not appreciated... Stay tuned for part 2.

Lack of quality of product assembly!

23 Apr
I still haven't received a response from ford escalation team! I called customer care team again and they informed me that wouldn't do anything for me as seat isn't covered by warranty unless it's broken! Poor quality in assembling passenger seat and they won't replace the parts to make it comfortable! BEWARE BEWARE OF FORD'S WARRANTY! NONE EXISTENT!
12 Apr
I haven't heard from FORD, goes to prove all they care about is getting their product sold and not customer satisfaction after the sale!
Bought a new 2024 Ford escape, that has a passenger seat that is not put together like driver seat! Driver seat comfortable and doesn't make your lower back hurt, while passenger seat makes your lower back ache after 30 minutes! You can put your arm through the gap between seat bottom and seat back while sitting in seat! Took it to dealership and was told seat not broken, IT'S NOT BROKEN IT'S NOT ASSEMBLED CORRECTLY LIKE DRIVERS SEAT! Ford doesn't want to acknowledge a problem with the seat! So I have a 2024 FORD with a passenger seat that you can't sit in without a back ache!

Do you know what automaker leads the…

Do you know what automaker leads the way with the most recalls in the U.S.?

Ford Motor Company leads all automakers in recalls.
In 2024, Ford recalled 4.7 million vehicles
In 2023, Ford recalled 5.9 million vehicles
In 2022, Ford recalled 8.6 million vehicles

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has 1,821 complaints on file for the 2017 Ford Escape with EcoBoost engine. The engines experienced coolant intrusion, causing engine failure, and often transmission failure. Despite almost 2,000 official complaints and multiple class action lawsuits on the 2017 Ford Escape with EcoBoost engine, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Ford Motor Company have not recalled the engine or transmission, leaving car owners with massive engine and transmission replacement bills or the loss of their car altogether.

In 2017, I purchased a new Ford Escape. At 63,000 miles the Ford EcoBoost engine malfunctioned. Ford charged me $5,000 to replace the engine. At 70,000 miles the transmission malfunctioned. Ford quoted $7,000 to replace the transmission. At that point, I had no choice, but to walk away from the vehicle.

Ford Motor Company put me in debt $5,000 to replace the faulty EcoBoost engine. I incurred an additional $5,100 loss when I was forced to purchase a replacement vehicle. Carmax offered me $9,000, on a trade-in, when the vehicle was in good working condition. Without a functioning transmission, Carmax offered me $3,900. Ford Motor Company has put me at a total loss of $10,100.

Ford Motor Company has a legal and ethical obligation to keep drivers safe and to stand behind their vehicles.

Will never buy another Ford from the…

Will never buy another Ford from the Topeka Ford dealership first off all they suckered us in to the EXTENDED warranty saying that it would be a 5 year extended warrant never did they say that the 5 year extended warranty it really only a 2 year warrant because it just adds two years to your manufacture warrant Then I have a 2019 F150 and the transmission keeps slipping out and reving up. I've taken it in multiple times to only be told they can't get it to do it and charge me 190.00 for a diagnostics. But there is actually a class action suit for the exact problem. So they are just waiting for my "EXTENDED" warrant to run out in the next three months. Plus the tried to tell me my ubolts were loose and needed to be replace wanting to charge me 770.00 and I took it to another mechanic and they said they were tight and there was nothing wrong with them Needless to say what a bunch of crap and I will NEVER buy vehicle from the Topeka Ford Dealership plus the guy that was in the service center was rude and had no personality especially to be working with the public

2023 broncosport any vehicle that uses felt as an underlayment for the vehicle.

Bought a 2023 broncosport. Started out well but now realize that in our snow prone area ice collects on the felt material in the wheel wells and under the chassis of the vehicle. It accumulates to the point where you'll just start dragging around ice chunks until the felt gives way. I did not to get the optional undercoating offered at time of purchase and I think that was an okay Choice since my review of undercoatings show that they don't repel the accumulation of ice or snow. It would be better to have something like sno-flo sprayed on that specifically deals with that issue.

I will never be buying another ford…

I will never be buying another ford vehicle. I have a well maintained 2017 ford explorer sport. In June of 2024, we had to complete $5000 in repairs by a dealership due to a failed water pump and turbo. Labor cost was extensive due to the orientation of the explorer sport. 8 months later, I have a bad torque converter, a known issue among 2017 models, however, my VIN does not fall under the recall. This is costing another $2000 in repairs. Why would anyone buy a ford anymore? I will be telling everyone I know not to buy a ford and post on any platform or review site, such as MHTSA AND BBB to help others avoid falling victim to Ford Motor Company. I called customer service and I was told there was nothing they could do to assist me. I have all receipts and documents from the dealership performing the repairs. This has been absolutely ridiculous.

Ford will not honour warranty.

My experience with Ford has not been positive. I own a Ford Focus and 2 years ago I replaced the clutches in the automatic transmission at my cost. They were acting up again and I called the dealership before the end of the warranty for them to look at the transmission clutches. The dealership was busy and could only accommodate me with an appointment after the warranty expired. I brought the car in for the appointment and Ford declined to cover the repair under warranty. It was 8 days after it expired. I have documented my original calls to book the appointment.
I was advised to call Ford customer service and they declined to help. They said it was up to the dealership. The dealership says it is up to Ford. I am in no man’s land between the two.
I called a number of times and documented each call, Case #, when it was completed and who I spoke too.
It now seems that Ford has no record of the calls or case # from a line that was supposed to be recorded. As I was informed of each time I called.

Now, it’s radio silence from Ford. So, no my experience has been terrible and I will tell everyone I know never to deal with Ford.

This is the last time we buy any new ford vans for a reliable work horse…

This is the last time our company invests in a Ford work van.We have had endless DPF-EGR issues and massive adblue problems costing thousands in lost work time and impossible to fix by local mechanics as ford have locked the ECUs so nobody can fix the vans apart from Ford for thousands!
They want hundreds just to plug in a reader and thousands in parts to fit a new ad blue tank ! The van is only 4 years old Look at the recent reviews !
This is no different to all the other go green scams

Ford Focus Mk IV broken engine

I bought a used Ford Focus two times. The last one was a three-year-old Ford Focus diesel 1.5l with 75,000 km. A decent family car, very good condition, we counted on it for many years. However, in January 2025, a serious problem appeared in the engine. The chain broke and damaged valves, the upper part of the head and other parts of the engine. The car had 114,000 km at the time. I learned Ford underestimated this chain and it is simply weak. Our Ford Focus is not the only one to which this fatal mistake happened, which is why stronger chains later appeared in this engine. However, they did not issue a recall, but let the owners suffer on their own. Our dealership Summit Motors Bratislava (Slovakia) also left us alone with this, even trying to convince us that they would at least offer us parts at a reasonable price. They offered us parts at retail prices, and they completely lost our trust. The repair cost us almost €4,000 in the end. The chain is stronger after the replacement, which has appeared in the engine later on.
This is my second Ford Focus. The previous one is now 21 years old and has a different owner. I was extremely satisfied with it. When I owned it, it had over 200,000 km and had no serious problems during its existence. If it is normal for Ford today that with 114,000 km and a 6-year-old car, I have to do a general engine overhaul for a few thousand € at my own expense and be without a car for a month, then I am not interested in their cars. If it is normal for a dealership Summit Motors Bratislava that they are not interested in helping their customers, then I am also not interested in their services and cars. The next time, we will turn to a more reliable dealer and brand.

I have always had faith in Fords but no more!!

I have always had faith in Fords and what they stand for. Well I have just changed my mind. I purchased a 2019 Ford Edge and 3 days after I drove it from the dealership the transmission went out and it had to have a total new transmission. I bought this car to have dependable transportation to get my daughter with stage 4 cancer to her treatments 5 days a week and her oncologist is 2 hours drive one way. The transmission went out while we were getting one of her treatments. Luckily the car broke down at a red light and not on the highway. So now less than a year later the engine starts idling low and keeps dying at stop signs and red lights. It’s also blowing white heavy smoke from the tailpipe. I took it to a ford dealership and the put it on the diagnostic machine and it showed to have the same issue of the recalls that the 2018 models had. I called Ford customer service and they refuse to give me any help to get it fixed. I asked her why since it’s the very same issue of the recall and she just kept saying the mileage was out of warranty. It’s not about a warranty it’s about a recall!! She wouldn’t budge. I will NEVER buy or deal with a Ford company ever again. Now I’m stuck with a car that I have to make 3 more years of payments on and can’t drive. I don’t have that kind of money laying around to fix it.

Ford Escape Hybrid plug-in

Ford Escape Hybrid plug-in

I've bought a plug-in Ford Escape 2023 brand new. My vehicle has already had 3 safety recalls, the last one asking me not to plug in my plug-in vehicle! Now I paid for a plug-in but I have a hybrid. There's no solution at the moment. The repair is scheduled for the 2nd quarter of 2025. This is unacceptable. Last time I buy a Ford!

Do Not Buy the Ford Mustang Mache

I strongly advise against purchasing the Ford Mustang Mach-E. I bought this vehicle brand new in November 2024, and just a week ago, I received alerts indicating a problem with the electrical system that requires service. When I contacted the dealership, I was told that the department responsible for servicing EVs was closed and that I would have to wait three weeks for an appointment.

A few days later, my car broke down completely, leaving me unable to get inside. I had to call a tow truck for assistance, but the first company I reached out to couldn’t access the vehicle either. I ultimately had to find a second towing service that specializes in EVs, which thankfully was able to help.

This whole experience has been unacceptable and could have led to a serious safety issue. My family was planning a trip out of town for the winter break, and I’m relieved we didn’t go; I can't imagine being stranded far from home in this situation. Please think twice before purchasing the Ford Mustang Mach-E if you prioritize your family’s safety.

Lack of Communication, service, and responsiblilty

My Ford Ecosport broke down because of a recall part on 3/4/24. The recall fix was (and is) not available. It is now a year later and I still do not have my car. They finally replaced the engine in December, I got it back in the middle of January. Drove it 2 days and it broke down. It was diagnosed at the local dealership and is going to cost $450 to fix. Ford offered to pay $140 of it. Remember this is a brand new engine but I do not have a warranty on it, because my original engine warranty was expired. Let me add, that this new engine still has the 'bad' recall part. I will say that
they have provided me a rental car but of course I have to pay upfront and am usually about 3 weeks in the hole! And I am not made of money! I have spent HOURS on the phone with Ford and get a different story each time. Plus after my car sat for 10 months and didn't get driven, the battery is acting up. If I ever get it back, that will be the next fight. I do not think I will ever own another Ford!!! Of course I haven't had my Ford in ONE YEAR!!! I will also say the service people at the 2 dealerships I have worked with have been wonderful!

I bought a used car from Bristol Street…

I bought a used car from Bristol Street motors in Birmingham. The car I bought was an ecosport reg BG68BGE it has done 52 thousand miles and I'm being told it needs a new engine due to lack of oil pressure due to the wet belt deteruation, also I am not allowed to drive it so I have to wait for Ford UK to order a new engine and it be fitted so it is stuck at Bristol Street motors BIrmingham. Ford have been ok with it all and are covering the cost of a new engine, from all my research the wet belt in the engine should last a lot longer but mine has gone which has caused a scrap engine, my problem is all the time I have to wait for the repair to be carried out I have no transport and I have spent hundreds of pounds on hired cars etc to get about, the main reason is I'm classed as disabled and need my car, I'm being told that my car is to old for a loan car, I would like to know why when it's ford's fault I have to have a new engine because a faulty one was fitted in the beginning, also apparently cars with my engine in were recalled, mine was not, I even phoned to see if my recall was missed and I was told my car did not need a recall

2021 Mach-E dead on drive

My 2021 mustange mach-e has brake assist stuck on. The car has just done 40k miles, I bought it 3 months and 10 days ago. The car is dead and won't move off my drive. Ford say it's not an existing recall even though online it seems a common fault that many many people have.
Ford Bolton say I have to pay for recovery to get it there then £147 for diagnostics before they'll look at telling me what I have to pay to fix this common fault on their faulty product.
