Where customer service just doesn't care. The "Ghetto" location.

I went to Food Lion on 12/10/25 @12:51PM. 907 S. Chapel St. Newark, DE. They had 2 lines open. I had to wait 15 minutes in line, for 4 items, Meanwhile, there's 4 or 5 employee's just hanging out and talking in the customer service area. There was another guy behind me that had 2 items. The cashier from the 2nd open lane came over and got the guy behind me becasue he knew him.
This is typical for this location. I call it the "ghetto" food lion. It's alway's filthy and they don't have an express, or self check out for that matter. This is definitly the last time I run in here to pick something up. I don't have the 45 minutes to an hour to pick up a couple of items. My cashier was very nice. But they are usually not at this location. My other experience with them, they were rude.

Food Lion on Hampton Roads Pkwy in…

Food Lion on Hampton Roads Pkwy in Suffolk VA has a very rude employee who told me to make sure I put my hamburger in a bag before I bring it to her register next time. Now, normally I’m a pretty easy going person and I would normally ignore a comment like this. But I couldn’t resist this time because of the tone of her voice. So I politely told her that I would not and that it was rude for her to tell me matter of factly what I should do with the meat I’m purchasing for my family before I bring it to her register. Like, who does that 🤷🏽‍♀️ She said it’s to keep down germs. I told her wearing gloves may help and if she doesn’t like how the meat department packages the meat she needs to have a conversation with the manager not a customer. Especially a customer who just got off work and is dead tired but still has to go home and feed her family. I was not in the mood. Just ring me up and chill on the chatter. She needs to go back to customer service training immediately.

Meat quality is terrible

Meat quality is terrible! Ground beef, check dates and is spoiled when you get home. This has happened twice, and there is nasty gray Hamburg put all over inside! Chicken looks like it has been through a shredder!

FoodLion Instacart -BEWARE! ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE!

Stores that use Instacart to fulfill delivery orders have started assuming the position that once they load your groceries in the delivery driver's vehicle. They are no longer responsible. The driver who picked up my $350 order AND another $200 order in a Honda accord. Tried to deliver me the other guys order. Then left to go back and get my order from Food Lion.

But he immediately marked the order as COMPLETE as he drove away. An hour later I still haven't heard anything. Call FoodLion and they can't locate the driver and the other customer ALSO never received their order. At 5:30pm the food lion store finally calls FOOD LION CORPORATE customer service who is then supposed to call INSTACART and track down the driver. Then they'll call me and figure out how to proceed.

Well, it's over 3 hours late at this point and you still can't find the driver. Refill the order and have another driver deliver it. Seems pretty simple right? But FoodLion basically washed their hands of it. After dealing with them for decades in many places. They've let Instacart destroy their brand.

Nobody should trust a company that tells you it's THE CUSTOMER'S FAULT AND RESPONSIBILITY because FOOD LION doesn't employ the drivers. So if Amazon decided to use a third party to deliver your xmas gifts. And the third party driver just disappears with your entire Xmas. FoodLion is saying it's no longer the retailer (you purchase at FoodLion.com or the food lion Togo app..NOT INSTACART). But they feel like it's not their responsibility at all when their 3rd party partner. Not someone we have a choice about. But here I am. A recent amputee who can't eat dinner tonight or breakfast in the morning. Because they refuse to ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY AND FIX IT. NOW, NOT WHEN IT'S CONVENIENT FOR YOUR PARTNER!!!

New Manager bringing change

Store #1226 in Woodbridge Va 22191
It seems management has changed at the Food Lion located on Jefferson davis Hwy. It really shows. The store stays clean and the caliber of employees has changed drastically, and the new Manager is really professional and a neat dresser and speaks to the customers with respect.

Just because of these facts I decided to give Food Lion another chance. I often wonder, if the employees from the stockers to the Manager, realize how important they are not only as a unit; but, as individuals.

I believe if one is old enough to work one is able to know their value and the value of the customer. Without each other there is no area store to offer goods for the customers and there are no paychecks for the employees.

The power of words and/or actions can put a place out of business over time or lessen its business in the community.

Perhaps these young people and Management should stop to think of how neighborhood businesses make life easier for our parents and grandparents, and do their jobs with pride and dignity.

Which I am now seeing.👍

I wish the new Manager and the new employees the best.

awesome customer service

I shopped at food Lion on 11/3/2025 and the person at the check out was just awesome, it was fun chatting and they made me feel like a queen, I was at Register 001 and the cashier was 0229

This store is a ripoff I bought five…

Food lion in goose creek is a ripoff I bought five packs of cigars and when I opened them they were old and stale I took them back to return or exchange them they said they cannot exchange them now it says nowhere on the receipt or in the store that they do not exchange or refund cigars I won’t spend another dime in this damn store.

We went to the Food Lion at 1300…

We went to the Food Lion at 1300 WestWood Lane Wilkesboro NC Store #2582. We spent $209.00 dollars on Saturday October 18th 2025. We were charged the same amount on our debit card on 10/19/2025. My wife called the store and was connected to the manager on 10/19/2025. She told the manager of the issue and he told her to call her bank and let them sort it out. She told him that the bank would just refer her back to the store and she did not see why he could not look up her account which she had already given him and see the duplicate charge and fix it. She said he got smart with her about it and when she asked him for his name she was told that he would not give her his name and hung up. Although our account was credited with the amount of the duplicate charge immediately after the call his service lacked respect and dignity for a manager dealing with a patron that has been shopping that food lion for years. I feel as a manager myself that this should not be tolerated at this level of administration.

WORKER PAID FOR MY THINGS

A person named jamar with black hair helped us, and paid for our items since we were down 75 cents. I am extremely thankful for him. He also had very good manners. I want him to get praise, so the food lion I went to williamsburg Virginia food lion next to Hubbard drive, and penniman road. Thank you so much♡

Foodlion is great but do not go to #825…

Foodlion is great but do not go to #825 FoodLion if you want anything thing that is on sale cause they will Not have it.I mean day after day,week by week!This place is a Joke ,it blows my mind ,I just can't believe it.The one on Glenburnie Rd in the meat department they Never got sale items out ,but if they do it is only 1 or 2 packages,No seletion!Employees come out and stock and just walk by empty shelves.This would never be when I use to work there.I go here everyday day almost cause it is on the way to my girlfriend house & it sucks cause I hate to drive across town to shop.

Excellent Customer Service

I have been shopping at The Food Lion Store for over a decade now. The Service, The Staff, The Management are OUTSTANDING. I went to the store today and sure enough Brandon and David were there to Greet Me. They are such an asset to Food Lion. They are always So Polite and Caring. They are always there to share their WONDERFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS with EVERYONE. Also, I wanted to recognize The Baker. She is OUTSTANDING as well. I can't remember lots of names at once. Brandon said she has been there for a long time. She is Very Kind and always So busy. She is So Polite and Cheerful. Again, Thank You Brandon, David(Dave), and Th Great Baker Lady. I hope she gets recognized as well. Thank You For Your Kindness and Thank You Food Lion For Another SPECTACULAR EXPERIENCE. My experience is with The Food Lion on Centennial Rd, McSherrystown/Hanover Pa.

Great Brands, Great people!

Not one experience, I have years of experience shopping at Food Lion. 9 out of 10 times when I try a Food Lion brand, I stick to it, it's as good or better than the national brand and much cheaper. Customer service is very good, almost always in stock, clean, I love Food Lion! My store is at 1461 South Boston Rd, Danville, VA. They are for sure 5 stars!

Loris Food lion has really gone down…

Loris Food lion has really gone down the tubes. Fresh chicken thighs were swollen up in the packages again this week. Stocking clerks seemed to have an attitude if you needed something on that isle. I am a local and did not used to be like that. Quality of products and employees have definitely changed. Not a big problem for me as there are other stores to shop at. Hate to see this happen in the city of Loris. Maybe the new Walmart coming soon will get them to improve back to what they used to be.

Their meat is gross

Their meat is gross! I mostly buy ground beef and chicken. Neither are ok. I've gotten chicken that smelled like chlorine, and another time it smelled like poop. I bought ground beef that was dated for the next day, which is when I planned to cook it. When I pulled in out of my refrigerator half of it was brown. I returned it and bought more expensive hoping for a good meal but that was not good either. When cooking it smelled horrible. I can't think of anything that smells like that. I didn't eat it either. These are not the only times I've bought meat from here that was not good. The pork chops I bought were the most flavorless I've ever had. Good smelling and tasting meat is becoming a distant memory because it's so hard to find. I'm dating this review for today, however, I've had gross meat from here too many times.

I generally have a good experience while shopping at Food Lion. Today however, the experience was different. I got in the express checkout lane which is 12 items or less. The individual in front of me had an entire shopping cart full of items. The checkout person along with another store employee thought it was a great time to socialize with this customer. It seemed like an old family reunion. What is the purpose of an express lane if the store clerk allows people to abuse it.
