No refund for simple misunderstanding

A simple misunderstanding. I booked a service my daughter was not actually allowed to get in the first place due to her age.. I immediately called minutes after submitting and the had no understanding. They do not value their customers at all this is literally just a money grab by the corporation. They are horrible and they care nothing about anyone that flies with them.

Against the law and I’m taking…

Against the law and I’m taking action. They’ve just asked for a class action lawsuit!!!

I personally witnessed them break the law not only with me, but with 20 other people by their predatorial practices.

Anyone who wants to participate in this lawsuit please contact me.

Beyond that I highly recommend everyone reach out to the Canadian transportation agency and write a personal letter to your investigative team with your local newspaper or the Toronto star. Let’s get this airline closed down.

So bad they have Google reviews turned off

Avoid this airline even if it's your only option. They have predatory business practices. For example, should you need to cancel your travel plans (in my case, there were 2 travellers) you can only use your travel credit for the SAME two travellers together on a new flight. In our case, they were business flights and one of the travellers no longer works for the company. I'd suggest always booking separate flights even when on the same flight. That's how predatory their flight credit policy is. They want your money but without offering anything in return. The same goes for how they behave at the gate. They are very aggressive in the way they check your personal item. If they decide it doesn't fit (even when it does) then you'll pay an additional $100 to carry it on. I watched one woman's camara bag, which was smaller than any purse, but square so it didn't fit in the skinny long frame they force people to squish their personal item into, have to pay an additional $100 to fly with it. Then I was hit with the same levy because it was "too squished" into the frame (it fit fine).

Worst airline

Worst airline. Personal item allowance is 7kg but they charged me for extra luggage fee for nothing. Whats the point of confirming 7kg personal baggage when you buy the flight then not sticking to it for last minute passenger charge at the gate? Total scam. Never flying Flair anymore. Even worse than Asian or Colombian low cost airlines.

SCAMMER flight

Oct 23 2025 flight from Toronto to Calgary . Just had the worst flight experience ever flying to Calgary. I couldn’t find my flight in the morning and had to scramble between WestJet and Flair. Made it to the gate literally 10 minutes before the 10:20 takeoff. Total chaos.Customer service was arguing with one family over their bags, then turned around and started fighting with another over ID issues. Meanwhile, they were forcing people to shove their carry-ons into this tiny black rack (you know, like the ones that hold free magazines at subway stations) and charging $100 if it didn’t fit—even though our bag fit under the seat and was fine when we booked.
When I finally sat down in seat 26C, people around me were all talking about how crazy everything had been. Then, out of nowhere, the crew announced that if anyone wanted to move to an empty seat, they’d have to pay $45—in cash to the flight attendant. Like… what? I’ve never seen anything like it. Felt more like a sketchy hustle than a legit airline policy.
Honestly, the whole thing felt rude, unprofessional, and like a total scam. Never again.

Don't bother trying to change your flight with Flair. Even with TravelFlex, It'll cost you more than no showing and you'll have no tickets to show for it.

Careful if you try to change a flight with these guys. They'll gladly take your money to change the flight but then they won't bother changing it. Then they'll charge you a cancellation fee for no showing up for the original flight AND you won't even have tickets for the new flight. They'll just delete it from existence even though you already paid for it. That's a whole lot of fees and headaches for no plane ticket. I believe this is the definition of fraud. But hey, at least the customer service has been polite every time I've tried to resolve the situation. However, since I've now contacted them 5 times, it would be nice if they would bother to be helpful and fix it. Absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable.

A Complete Disappointment and Lack of…

A Complete Disappointment and Lack of Professionalism!
During our family flight, all family members were seated separately, next to random passengers. When we requested to sit together, we were asked to pay an additional fee. Even more concerning, the authorized customer service representative openly admitted that this was “a different way for the company to make money,” and demanded a higher payment for the change.
When we refused to accept this unfair practice, we were treated with disrespect and indifference. The company’s total disregard for customer satisfaction and family unity was extremely disappointing.
Based on this experience, we strongly advise others to avoid this airline.

Its the worst airline I have ever seen

Its the worst airline I have ever seen.
Their baggage policy is absolutely ridiculous the size limit is so tiny that even a small backpack doesn’t fit! The so-called “carry-on” allowance is laughable. I don’t think a bag that small even exists. And to make things worse, their boarding staff are unbelievably rude. Honestly, with this kind of attitude and these absurd standards, it’s a mystery how this airline is even allowed to operate in Canada.

The worse airlines experience ever

The worse airlines experience ever, charge for hand language whoever they want, extremely rude to minorities, racist and unapologetical, ruined my trip. It's a low budget airline but that doesn't mean they can treat paying passengers as dirt. Shame on them, my bad experience was in Calgary airport.

Random 89CAD extra charge for a personal item, just to SOME of the customers in line! Ridiculous 😂

When I went to the check-in counter I specifically asked if it was OK to bring my backpack on the plane despite the size and the lady said “yes, sure, that’s included”, but didn’t put a tag on it. When boarding, I (only me, not the rest of the group I was with, who had the same size if not an even bigger backpack) got charged an extra 89 dollars to board “a carry-on”. Both ladies at the counter for flight F8503 were incompetent, rude and dismissive and wouldn’t let me board despite my explanation. Maybe better communication between the ground crew member would make this airline a bit better. I will certainly never fly with this company to avoid any other scams!

FLAIR AIRLINES -- NEVER, NEVER, NEVER AGAIN

UPDATE: OCTOBER 5 2025

FLAIR AIRLINES KEEP SENDING ME EMAIL SUPPOSEDLY OF "APOLOGY." THEY IMPLY THAT MY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING MY FEELING THAT THEY SHOULD TREAT ME AS THOUGH I AM A VALUED CLIENT, ARE TOO HIGH. THEY KEEP ASKING ME TO GIVE THEM ANOTHER CHANCE, BUT I SEE NO REASON TO EXPOSE MYSELF TO FLAIR AGAIN.

My partner and I wanted to have a 3-week stay at the Allegro Playacar – All-inclusive Resort. We had stayed there before and were very pleased with the service and hotel amenities, as well as its proximity to Playa Del Carmen.

We made the mistake of booking the package from Expedia who used Flair Airline to get us to Cancun airport. I HAVE ALREADY POSTED A REVIEW OF MY EXPEDIA EXPERIENCE ON THIS SITE.

Shortly after booking the package, I received an email from Flair to complete my booking. I found their website difficult to navigate. I would call it USER UNFRIENDLY.

As a result, I requested checked carry-ons (yes, there is a charge for carry-on on Flair). However, I wanted to request checked luggage for a standard suitcase.

I immediately emailed Flair, explaining the mistake I made and asking them to refund my payment, and then I would proceed to go back to the website and check the standard suitcases instead.

I got this reply from Flair:
__________________________________________________________________________
Thank you for contacting Flair Airlines.

We understand that you were unable to add the baggage option of your choice and that you would like us to remove the carry-on so you can add a checked bag instead. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused, and please rest assured that you are in good hands.

According to Flair Airlines’ policy, baggage items cannot be removed once added. However, we can modify your booking by changing the carry-on to a checked bag.

Please note that you would need to pay the call center fee as well as any fare difference between the two baggage types.

If you agree to these conditions, kindly confirm so that we may proceed with the change.

We truly appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this situation.

Thank you for choosing Flair Airlines.

For more information on our policies, we invite you to visit our website at XXXXXXXXX.

We wish you an excellent day.

Kind regards,

I understand an increased cost of checked standard luggage, but I do not agree with their “no refund for the payment for checked carry-on” policy. What if, upon realizing my mistake, I paid for checked standard suitcases, before I had contacted Flair. Then I would have been stuck with payment for the carry-ons, a mistake I made because of their misleading website.

In addition, I had to pay Flair for help I needed because of the inadequacy of their website.

I wonder how much money Flair makes charging for “customer service”? What an incentive for Flair to cause problems for their customers. What an ingenious way for an insatiable company to make additional money from its poorly served clients.

IF FLAIR AIRLINE IS SO MONEY-GRUBBING IN A MINOR SITUATION SUCH AS MINE WAS, HOW TRUSTWORTHY ARE THEY IN DEALING WITH SERIOUS PROBLEMS THAT THEIR PASSENGERS MAY HAVE TO FACE.

Flair Airlines is not the first discount airline I have used. But I can confidently state that they are more mercenary than all the others I have flown with. This was my first experience dealing with Flair, and I have no choice but to fly with them because they are part of my travel package.

However, I will never again buy a travel package, if the travel company uses Flair.

I urge all travellers to rethink your decision to use Flair Airlines before you pay for anything.

Never flying flare again

My Experience Flying with Flair Airlines

(F8521 YKF–YYC, 21-Sep-2025 | F8520 YYC–YKF, 26-Sep-2025)

I usually do not write reviews, but my recent experience with Flair Airlines was so disappointing and hurtful that I feel it needs to be shared—not just for future passengers, but also for the airline authorities to understand what is happening on their flights. While I acknowledge that some employees were genuinely trying to do their jobs, the overall treatment I received across both flights (Waterloo → Calgary and Calgary → Waterloo) left me feeling disrespected, mistreated, and even indirectly discriminated against.

1. Departure from Waterloo (Flight F8521 – 21-Sep-2025)

At the baggage check-in in Waterloo, both my carry-on and check-in bag were under the allotted weight. However, because my bag appeared slightly “fluffy,” I was forced to place it in the airline’s size-check device. This equipment was extremely dirty, rusty, and poorly maintained. As a result, my bag got scratched and stained—my black bag literally turned brown from the dust and rust inside.

The staff handling this were also rude, unfriendly, and dismissive. There was no courtesy, no attempt to explain politely—just a harsh attitude that immediately set a negative tone for the trip.

2. Return from Calgary (Flight F8520 – 26-Sep-2025)

The return trip was even worse and left me with an extremely negative impression of Flair Airlines.

Repeated bag checks: At Calgary airport, my bag was checked, weighed, and tagged at the counter. However, upon reaching the gate, despite already having the official tag, I was singled out and forced to place the bag again in the size-check cage. When I asked why, the staff brushed me off and insisted it was required. This wasn’t just done to me but to several passengers, creating a long line and delaying boarding. It honestly felt like the staff were intentionally targeting people, looking for excuses to declare bags “non-compliant” so they could charge extra fees.

This practice felt unnecessary, unfair, and to me, indirectly discriminatory—almost as if certain passengers were being picked out deliberately for stricter checks.

Cabin condition: The seats on this flight were very old, stitched in places, and even torn in some spots. For an airline that charges extra for everything, the condition of the seating was shocking and unacceptable. It gave the impression of poor maintenance and complete disregard for passenger comfort.

Safety demonstration: During the mandatory safety instructions, one flight attendant was literally using the safety manual as a paper fan to protect her makeup while giving the demonstration. This was in full view of passengers, and it came across as careless, unprofessional, and disrespectful.

Cabin comfort: The plane was uncomfortably warm throughout the flight, with the AC barely functioning. Passengers were visibly uncomfortable.

Noise levels: I was seated near the back, and throughout this midnight flight, several crew members were extremely loud, laughing, giggling, and having personal conversations during takeoff and the flight itself. Passengers who wanted to rest—including myself—were disturbed and unable to sleep because of the noise.

All of these incidents combined showed a lack of professionalism, poor training, and no concern for passenger experience.

3. Overall Impression

Both flights left me with the feeling that I was not respected as a paying passenger. While I understand not every employee behaves this way, the majority of staff I interacted with were rude, careless, and unprofessional. The way my belongings were treated, the repeated bag harassment at boarding, the terrible seat conditions, and the dismissive behavior of the crew all created an environment that felt hostile and unwelcoming.

I cannot ignore the impression that some of this treatment bordered on indirect racial bias, as I noticed a pattern in who was being stopped repeatedly for checks versus who was allowed through with ease. While this may not be openly acknowledged, as a customer I felt the difference—and it left me deeply hurt.

Final Words

For the same fare, other airlines not only treat passengers with dignity but also provide complimentary snacks, drinks, and Wi-Fi. Flair Airlines, on the other hand, charges for every little thing while delivering the lowest standard of service I have ever experienced.

This experience has convinced me never to fly with Flair Airlines again, and I will strongly advise friends, family, and colleagues to do the same. A few hardworking employees cannot make up for an overall culture of rudeness, negligence, and unfair treatment.

Passengers deserve respect, fairness, and professionalism.

Worst airline

I would strongly advise against flying with this airline. I recently had two flights with them, and it was by far the worst travel experience of my life. They meticulously inspect every passenger’s luggage and, despite the tickets being affordable, they make every effort to overcharge you for baggage.

Profit through carry-on luggage

It feels like Flair deliberately targets passengers at the gate, charging them double (or even more) than the cost of the flight ticket for a simple backpack that doesn’t fit perfectly. This practice is misleading, unfair, and leaves a terrible impression of the airline.

Staff not helpful

Staff not helpful. Cold . Everything is inferior and overpriced. Small plane, tight seating, no wifi , even with a fee, even coffee costs $4. Carry on costs money. Personal items can’t be bigger than a ladies purse or they charge you. Avoid Flair at all costs.

🚨 Don’t ever fly Flair!

🚨 Don’t ever fly Flair!! The carry on is inches smaller than any other airline which they don’t disclose that clearly when you book..

When brining this issue up to the manager he threatened me and basically said he would happily cancel my flight when bringing this to their attention.

Seats are undersized. No mid flight snacks and horrible plane quality

Buyer beware!

Horrible in every way! It will not be cheaper if you have baggage! I could not bring in my carryon luggage even though this bag had been happily carried on countless planes! Charged me 70 at gate to check bag.

Overhead bins on plane mostly empty. Hot cramped awful seats! Four hours is way to long to be on this plane!

No frills doesn’t even begin to…

No frills doesn’t even begin to describe flying with Flair. They try to squeeze every nickel they can out of you. If you don’t spend the extra $40. + and choose your seat, they will make absolutely sure that you don’t sit together. My wife booked her seat to sit beside me, but a “glitch’ in their System did not accept the reservation. She was told to check in at the desk. At the reservation desk, the solution was to pay for both of us to change seats in order to sit together…to the tune of an extra $21. plus tax. Won’t even give you a glass of water saying it prevents waste and lowers weight but they’ll sell you a bottle of water for $5. Carry on bad size is ridiculous…they have kept changing the size requirements. Seats will not recline…not even an inch. I’m so done with their business practices that Flair has become my last choice of airline to fly.
