OMG where do I start

OMG where do I start. They cancelled my policy because my smart box was dead. Even though due to a non-fault accident, I am driving a hire car and was told I didn't need the smart box!!! Called and called and they are not budging. Unbelievable.

Adrian Flux - protection racket

Wrangling with them about a cancellation notice...they accused my daughter of going at 78mph along a narrow road..
I doubt her car could get up to that speed and she certainly doesn't drive that fast. The black box is a joke, I went for a drive to test it out and stuck well within the speed limits...the next day warnings about speed.

So to "reinstate" the insurance (after the dangerous speeding) with the same insurer they wanted another £1,000 when I said no, I'd just cancel they went to discuss this and came back and said it would be an additional £170, I still said no and will cancel, even though it will cost me. Its now a matter of principle and I'll probably have to involve the ombudsman

Adrian Flux is just a shocking, greedy unscrupulous business. I feel sorry for the very nice employees who have to peddle this extortion on a daily basis.

Black Box rip off !

Another complaint about the black box for new drivers. It has been an absolute pain !! Went away for 3 weeks so couldn’t charge the box and insurance got dropped to third party. Inaccurate knowledge of road speeds so reflects driver is speeding when they aren’t. They suspended the insurance due to so called bad driving and has to pay a further £1,400 to reinstate it. A truly awful company a decision I am gutted about buying into .

Extremely problematic insurer.

The black box insurance is perhaps the most problematic black box on the market. Firstly, the fact that you have to charge the box regularly is highly inconvenient, especially when you are not a regular driver. The box takes forever to charge and does not hold a charge very long. Alongside this, it discharges when the car is not being driven, which sometimes means you have to drive the car specifically to charge up the box, eating into your mileage allowance and wasting fuel.

I have recently moved to university, which whilst also causing my mother to have to take out my car often when I am not home for no reason other than to charge the box, also occurred a £150 premium increase. I told them I was moving to university but made it clear I would not be taking my car. Despite the company knowing this when I took out the policy, they did not inform me this would be the case. When queried, they told me that they increase the premium as it's often the case that students go to university and lie about keeping their car at home, therefore increasing the likelihood of damage. I am insured to commute already and don't even plan on driving my car to uni at all, so I see this as a ridiculous increase. If students lie about keeping their car at home when they go to university, then what's to say students don't lie about going to university at all?

Overall, don't bother. It's not worth the hassle. Go with a company like Ticker instead, which I have heard much better things about.

This cowboy outfit paid out a 3rd party…

This cowboy outfit paid out a 3rd party claim without bothering to let the policyholder know, which caused a FAULT claim on the insurance. After months of complaints and investigation by the policyholder this is now with the Financial Ombudsman. Now completely out of the blue without ever having any issues with my black box, been insured 6 months, I've been given 3 days notice that they are cancelling my insurance due to 3 incidents that I never received notification or communication about, which Adrian Flux are at liberty to advise, once again on complaining no-one communicates, phones not answered, emails ignored. Very strange that I go to the Ombudsman and within a week I've presumably driven in a wreckless manner on roads I've been driving for 6 months without any issue, road with speed cameras that are very active and I've not had any speeding notifications... This company are cancelling my insurance and keeping the rest of my money paid due to the open claim with the ombudsman. DISGUSTING, thieving, immoral bunch of cowboys. Yet another complaint to the ombudsman and this time I'm speaking to my solicitor!

Please avoid at all costs

Please avoid at all costs.
Took out car insurance for my son, total cost of £1607, which was cancelled without explanation by Flux a month later, and only after complaining to customer services, ended up with paltry refund of £743. Hardly anything like a pro-rata refund and subsequent emails went unanswered.

Aggressive Sales to a Vulnerable Customer

My 71 year old farther rang them for a policy and was met with very aggressive sales tactics and people adding ancillary products without providing the relevant information. I am a financial auditor in financial services and the tactics used by the individual were nothing short of criminal to a vulnerable customer. The advisor was telling my farther that of he didn't accept the quote there and then it would need to be requoted and the price would increase. He also added ancillary products without informing my farther what they were, the separate price and was very aggressive throughout the calls.

I am reporting them to the FCA.

Absolute scam, they just want money.

Absolute scam. I was with flux for my first year driving with a black box. The black box was not accurate kept getting messages to say it wasn’t attached or charged, when it was plugged in and attached to my windscreen the whole time. Anything like breaking for a cat running across the road or something would be down as dangerous driving even if there’s no cars behind you, they expect you to run it over. They had also made up routes a few times with “dangerous driving” when my car hadn’t even left the drive. They ended up cancelling my insurance for speeding. They then wanted me to pay £1500 to stay with them for a second year to do another year with a black box… I don’t think so.

An absolute con

An absolute con, i took my car insurance out in April and had no problems, i recently got a new car and when transferring everything over the black box was having issues charging due to a piece i was waiting for in the post, during this time i was put on third party insurance waiting for the piece the arrive as i couldn't charge the blackbox, i am now being threatened with the cancellation of my policy a month before i'm due for renewal because the stupid box won't charge. I am getting the box swapped for a new one and if the manufacturers don't find anything wrong with the box i will be charged £160, surely that's something they can just make up to con more money out of me? Altogether i've had to pay £20 for a refit kit that didn't work, the stress of my insurance being cancelled for something i can't control, and also now being on third-party insurance.
Avoid this company at all costs, with all the extra money i have spent it would have been cheaper to take out insurance without a blackbox.

Do Not trust this company.I have never had to make a claim, But I would not feel confident if I had to. I have just taken out car insurance on go compare it with sterling insurance company.Paid for Policy.Had to feel in a few more questions ,after I paid .and then found out it was part of the Adrian flux group.Tried to cancel and explained ,I would not have taken the policy out if I knew it was part of Adrian flux. And they wanted to charge me for two fees can’t remember what the first one was,But second was Cancellation fee which was £35. For all of 10 minutes. The company Is not transparent. I would never have taken policy out if I knew it was Adrian flux. The reason I was not happy with Adrian flux,When I told them I was retired,But I rented out a buy to let,They wanted to charge me £51 extra ,As it counted for a second job .The company is not transparent it all in and as far as I’m concerned they are unscrupulous

Daughter had her 1st years insurance…

Daughter had her 1st years insurance with this company and to be honest were rediculously expensive even with a black box. Had to top up mileage part way through the policy and cost another 25% of the original £1750.00 we had already paid. If you disagree with anything there attitude is we can cancel your policy and you get hardly anything back after they fiddle the numbers. Would l recommend this company to anyone.. NO
The black box is an absolute con.. How do l know this..Well tell me how my daughter's flux app showed car had drove 2 miles when parked on the drive all day??? This was just one occasion l spotted and there was endless others that my daughter's route to work would increase in miles even though she took exactly the same route endless times. lt's common knowledge these boxes are a fiddle and this proves me right.

Avoid the black box!

Had insurance with Adrian flux over the past 15 years for motor home, vans etc and never had a problem, so deemed fit to insure our sons van with them. Had to have a black box due to being a young driver. Was ok for the first year and into second year until due for renewal! My goodness what a hassle! Last week it was 1300 and his driving was good, over the weekend its suddenly escalated to 1900, and he's receiving messages saying his insurance is suspended due to bad driving! After a very heated call on Monday, transferred from person to person and beingtold that his driving is dangerous (drives a van not a ferrari) but as a gesture of goodwill they're no longer suspending the account just down grading to 3rd party only providing his driving style changes! So now he's in fear of his insurance being cancelled less than a month before renewal! Will not be using them in future!

Little better than a scam

I was misled into unknowingly taking out a non refundable credit agreement with Adrian Flux. While applying for insurance over the phone I told the sales advisor (several times) I was selling my vehicle and would probably only need the insurance for a few weeks - not full term. It was NOT made clear to me that by choosing to pay monthly I was actually signing up to a non refundable credit agreement! This means that now I’ve sold the van and no longer require the insurance I actually have to pay the entire annual amount anyway, for absolutely nothing in return..?! Obviously I would never have chosen this option had it been made clear to me that it would mean I’d have to cough up a whole years worth of insurance for only a few months worth of insurance and the sales rep should have made this very clear - especially as I made a point of emphasising that I was selling the van and wouldn’t need the insurance for a whole year. I could have paid the full amount right there and then and I’d now be in a completely different position, but over the phone the sales advisor didn’t make that clear. No credit checks or signature is needed on the policy documents to start the policy or agree to any credit agreement - it’s all done informally over the phone right there and then based off of the advice from the sales advisor. I feel misled and lied to, never ever heard of any insurance company signing you up to a non refundable credit agreement to pay monthly before, usually you get money when you cancel vehicle insurance! It feels like I’m a victim of a nasty scam. What makes it worse is that I recommended Adrian Flux to lots of other campervan enthusiasts as a good trustworthy insurer to go to! No more, I encourage all of you to stay away from this insurer at all costs, misleading and untrustworthy, they are out to rip you off and don’t care at all about their ethical responsibility to offer clear sales and policy advice.

Not a great company

Not a great company, to be fair i think the insurance industry as a whole is not an honest one. There are a lot of people on hear that feel the same, i dont think its sour grapes because people that take the time to review have generally taken the time to leave a considered testimonial. I wonder what would happen if everyone collectively pushed for the truth and answers. How bad is it if you get your insurance cancelled that for the rest of your life you are deemed to be a bad driver, people who commit real crimes can move on. If you are black listed by an insurer its on your profile for life. Why is that? Does the insurance industry benefit from this? Lets find the answer.
