Though I like the bread and cakes the sevice from some of the shop assistants is rude. This morning in the middle of service they started discussing their nails. I might as well not have been there. Some basic customer service training needed.

Breakfast with your pastries

Placed an order for my friend's Bday breakfast. I have received confirmation by WhatsApp according to my instructions. All was ready on the arranged day, all correct and same price as I was told on the phone. Amazing, fresh, soft inside, crunchy outside pastries - butter & almond croissants, pain au chocolate and white sourdough. We all enjoyed it and had a great time. Can recommend.

Unhygienic Bakery

Todays' visit inspired me to go immediately to the local council to inform them of the Food Hygiene issues at this Flint Owl Bakery, High St. Lewes, East Sussex. BN7 2NS.
The uncovered food (open for the public to sneeze and cough over) was covered in a fine green dust which had occured from moving some filthy dirty dried flowers. It revealed an infestation of insects which were crawling over the walls and ceiling in their masses and also flying through the dusty air. The walls above the serving counter where eccessively dirty with falling dust along with cob webs. This food establishment is in need of a complete deep clean and Food Hygiene Inspection. I complained to the manager who simply just agreed with me while she saw my open plated food covered in dust. Nothing was done to rectify any of the problems. The small amount of food I did eat before deciding that it was no longer hygienic was in fact very hard and stale and inappropriate for a bakery/coffee shop.

Lewes Cafe needs a deep clean!

Today we were covered in a visible cloud of dust and midges inside the cafe which came from the dried flower arrangement when it was moved. It looks like a very bad infestation as there were dozens of the creatures. Our eyes were still sore one hour after the problem. Also looking around the standard of cleaning was disgusting...the lampshades above the food being served were thick with black dust and parts of the walls covered in grease and cobwebs. We did complain but felt very little would happen as a result.

The best bread in Lewes

The best bread in Lewes.
Although it's always busy (and sells out fast), it's well worth getting a loaf or two if you're passing.
The meals and other food in there is great too, but the bread is definitely the star of the show.
