Expect no customer support when their expensive components fail

They built a reptile enclosure for me, and although the enclosure itself was built well, some of the components they installed were not, and it is now costing me dearly. They recommended that they install a Reptile Basics / Vivarium Electronics radiant heat panel, and I went along assuming they know best and would support me if their were issues, but that has turned out not to be the case at all. After only one year the heat panel started failing, and was no longer able to consistently hold the needed temperature. I contacted them thinking it would be a simple matter of replacement since they told me there was a lifetime warranty on the panel, but they told me any warranty issues have to go through the manufacturer. Since they are the re-sellers I purchased the heat panel from, it is obvious that I have to deal with them on the issue. I spent many emails trying to explain to them the dropping temperatures, and they simply refused to acknowledge it, telling me they don't warranty their components after 3 months. I offered to ship the panel back to them in exchange for a refund on the panel but they refused. So really, this "lifetime warranty" is non-existent, and you can expect to spend a lot of money on expensive poor quality components with zero guarantee or support from them. It is a very expensive device and now I have to replace it after only one year at my cost. In the process, I learned that this device is not UL certified for safety, which means if it melts or catches on fire (google it, it has happened) and burns down your house, insurance will not cover it.
