Please stay away from this company

Please stay away from this company. I wanted to cancel my policy after only two weeks, but they charged me almost half of the total amount I would have paid for the entire year. On top of that, after the cancellation, they still took another monthly payment. They also took money from my credit card without my consent. So, despite being with them for only two weeks, I was charged for two months and also had to pay a cancellation fee. In my experience, this company is dishonest and I would not recommend them to anyone

I had car insurance with them

I had car insurance with them, and then I had to move house so when I went online to try to put in my new address it charged me £307. I thought this cannot be right so I phoned them up and they said yes to change my address. It would cost £307 down to the underwriters, absolutely disgusting. I cancelled my Insurance with them on the spot. I have quite a large Business and a lot of employees and I will be telling them not to use them at all, so watch out be warned they will take every penny from you.

Surprisingly easy

Having just been ripped off by Collingwood insurance on my sons car i feel i should leave a review when things also go well.
Swapped my car, Price to swap with 1st Central not competitive, Cancelled with very small fee and DD that had just been paid has been refunded. Excellent.

Hard to cancel automatic renewal

My wife and I each had car insurance with this company. We never had to claim fortunately but decided not to renew after our neighbour's experiences with them and reading this website. It took an hour on the phone after trying on my FCentral account to cancel the automatic renewal. Best avoided.

Worst insurance company in the UK

Worst insurance company in the UK
ABSOLUTELY SCAMMER…… High Alert

Been with them for 5 months
Started with £68 a month, then £154 next month, they had wrong info about my past record by their own mistake, peruse them to correction, they admitted their mistake after 3rd payment of £154 apologised and agreed for a refund which never came, and then increased the premium £251 monthly for no reason or justification. I changed the car same basic specs car but different make, premium increased again to £329 a month.
Was done with them!!! I SOLD my car.
Had no patience left so Contacted them for cancellation, took 1 hour 40 min for all the bullshits this n that…..
I owe them £840 outstanding payment for nothing, payable before cancellation.
Now, (final words) They will investigate and will get back to me in 8 weeks time.
Would keep taking money through DD from my bank account even though I have nothing to get covered by them as I sold my car.

Just be careful when getting insurance cover.
NEVER EVER GO FOR 1st Central Insurance.

First insurance

My daughter had her first insurance with this company.
Myself being an additional driver we put through all information correctly. But becasue of comparing many insurance for a few weeks different things cane through on the database apprantly. To which one said I had an accident in a year I didn't the other saying my daughter had an accident which in fact was myself. Due to this we spent 2 whole days on the phone to 1st Central. Also chasing up my old insurances for evidence. First day people we spoke to were useless. 2nd day. I spoke to 2 people and eventually got through to alas called thobeka. Now I know this is a 3 star for the hassle we had. But thobeka throughly sorted everything within 2 hours yes but she did what others could've done. They just couldn't be bothered one was quite rude Matthew his name was.
But thanks to thobeka it was all sorted and she made it extremly easier and stress free for us. Thobeka I give a 5 star too. The company itself may be worth paying that little extra to a different company. Or at least before you pay online call and make sure everything they have is correct.
And ask to speak to thobeka. Great English. Polite friendly and helped also called back as she said she would. Where as other didnt . If it wanst for thobeka I was about to cancel

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!
If I could give a zero star review I would. Wasted half my day communicating with a robot online. Then given a number to ring. After speaking to a voice robot for at least 10 minutes I got through to a "human". Who proceeded to put me on hold for nearly 30 minutes. All to cancel a policy and request a refund for payment they took from my account without me agreeing to to the credit agreement. They tried to tell me that the credit agreement didnt have to be signed for them to take payment even though the proposed policy had changed and cost had increased! They agreed to a refund of the money they took from my account but then charged me more than half of this because I was uncovered for 1 day!!!!!! That 1 day where my car didnt leave the street cost me more than half of what a month's insurance with them would have cost! Utterly disgusted with them in every way- rude patronizing staff, rip off admin fees, sneaky tactics and an impossible website to navigate. Thank God I didnt have to ask for a claim. Unfortunately a hard price to pay for cheap insurance which ends up being a rip off.

Utterly disgusted with this company. Would definitely avoid. Obtain insurance online. Two weeks into the policy had an email to contact them, which i did to find out they where increasing my policy by 50% due to that i put down employed not self employed for an additional driver. The policy was only for social use. They said rhis was because the driver was self-employed they would drive more.

I used them for over 5 years and they…

I used them for over 5 years and they were ok. Then I tried to get in contact with them to change policy to a new electric car. They were so hopeless. I had call them 5 or 6 times (30 mins each time) and each time they would ask what fuel my new car takes. ITS ELECTRIC. So I cancelled my existing account with them and gave up.

Their call centres are staffed by very unhelpful people and I am so thankful I never had to process a claim for them. My phone bill will be huge this month.

I see a lot of negative comments but i’m with them from 3 years,never had a problem,every year they gave the lowest price on car insurance,changing in policy was free and everything is easy to do online without spending time over the phone.

Call after call.

After yet again more calls, one which I was on the phone for two hours, to be told a manager would phone me back yesterday, to still not hearing anything. Getting told different things, depending on whom you speak to, customer service!!! There isn’t any.

AVOID these SCAMMERS

AVOID these SCAMMERS! And linked to 1st Central, so AVOID them as well !
My daughter Set up car insurance with 1st Central at £267 was average fare price BUT 6 weeks later ‘First Central’ took from bank another £385! ( £50 of this was admin charge as change of circumstances they said BUT of which Was NONE)
DID NOT GIVE PERMISSION FOR THIS TO BE TAKEN FROM BANK and so shocked they did this!
They draw you in with cheap offer on compare sites then hit you with extra charges as say you are not paying enough after all! Absolutely TERRIBLE!
Need reporting!
Update….Also has come to light that even more money taken from bank with OUT permission due to them putting O years no claims in my policy but which were told was 9+ years! Which also now will be a problem for future car insurance!!!

Won't insure an illustrator to be able…

Won't insure an illustrator to be able to drive a car. After being insured with them for years. When tou try and cancel they hit you with all the fees for them making you cancel your policy because they don't accept your profession!! Avoid at all costs these people are scumbags

Absolutley shockingly bad!!
I wish I had read the reviews before paying in full for insurance cover.
They ask for ridiculous amounts of extra information to be added to portal which is impossible to access.
At this point I am trapped in a situation that they are going to charge undisclosed amounts as I am unable to provide the information they are requesting in time. they are going to charge me an undisclosed amount when they automatically change the policy to their "higher rate of risk".
They will also charge an undisclosed amount for me to cancel the policy.
They will not allow me to take off an added driver whom they are also requesting ridiculous amounts of information about.
I have no idea if I will be able to get my money back off them which is almost a thousand pounds.

Absolutely Incompetent

I don't have an account, but a D/D appeared out of the blue on my bank account. Tried reporting fraud, but it would have been easier to 'platt fog'. Hung up on me TWICE. Absolutely incompetent.
I stopped the D/D only to find that it's been resubmitted. This company should NEVER be allowed to handle anything financial

Recieved an email stating that I need to forward my policy details for investigation.
Obviously not read my issue !!!!!!
I DON'T HAVE AN ACCOUNT. I HAVE HAD MY ID STOLEN !!!!!!!
