I have been asked to write a review using a script sent by Fastercapital and as this is only partially correct, I have chosen to give the facts as I have experienced them.
In my quest for a venture capital company, I came across FasterCapital, the few venture capitalists that do not require an upfront fee.
The subsequent negations fallowed quickly and a contract was signed by Mr. Bashar Hamood, Managing Partner and me, clearly stating that that “FasterCapital will receive a dilutable equity stake and that the fees due to FasterCapital, shall be paid by bank or cashier's check at the closing of Financing. In the event that a portion of the Financing is completed in delayed increments, the fee shall be paid pro-rata as each increment is advanced”.
On average, an email from various people within FasterCapital was received every second day, SWOT analysis, KPI analysis etc. and the project was quickly thrashed into an acceptable proposal.
I then received an email from Daniela Paxton, Senior Director of Raise Capital program stating that “We are charging an advance payment in our programs”.
I immediately referred to our signed contract and was told by Daniela that “I will follow up with the legal team again today to ask for an update and will come back to you the moment we have their answer”
It is now three weeks + and I have not had an email from FasterCapital, regarding the legality of the contract and if FasterCapital will honer the signed contract or will FasterCapital insist on an advance payment before proceeding with the capital raise as set out in the signed contract?

We would like to clarify one important point. FasterCapital has different programs, including Raise Capital, Idea to Product, Tech Cofounder, and EquityPilot. Some of these programs may include advance payments depending on the structure and scope of work. However, EquityPilot is the exception and follows a different model.
When Daniela referred to programs with advance payment, she was referring to other FasterCapital programs and alternative options, not to changing the EquityPilot agreement you signed. The agreement you signed remains related to the EquityPilot structure, and presenting other options does not mean that FasterCapital changed or cancelled the original commitment.
We understand that this could have been communicated more clearly, and we apologize for any confusion. Our intention was to explain that there are other possible paths available, while continuing with the EquityPilot process you had already committed to.
Regarding the three-week period, we also want to clarify that this is not unusual in fundraising. After the project is prepared and shared with investors, time is needed for investors to review the opportunity, assess the materials, and decide whether they are interested. Once we receive meaningful feedback or interest from investors, you will be notified.
We also agree that reviews should always reflect the client’s real and honest experience. Any suggested wording should only be seen as optional support, not as something that replaces the client’s own opinion.
We will review the communication internally and make sure the relevant team follows up with you directly to clarify the agreement, the program options, and the next steps. We value transparency and want to resolve this professionally.
