Please No!!!

Got concerts tickets, I couldnt go due to death in the family. Called fanshield because i got the insurance and they kept saying my payment was declined but i show it on my bank statement and even showed them that. Was fighting back and forth and they still wont give me my refund. Terrible service. They need to be put out of business before they do this to other people

I had a death in my family

I had a death in my family. The process of getting a refund was made much more difficult than necessary. Even after providing the requested information, I was continually pressed for more details when when I had clearly fulfilled the requirements based on the insurance explanation of benefits. I needed to directly provide screenshot proof of what the company policy was in order to receive my refund. Although I did eventually get reimbursed, the process was both inconvenient as a customer and incredibly insensitive as someone who just lost a family member.

This company straight up lies about…

This company straight up lies about what its policy says and when I point out what their policy actually says, they don’t respond to my emails at all and consider the case “closed.” I honestly think there could be a class action suit against them.

EDIT AFTER THEIR RESPONSE BELOW: I’m not sure if the FanShield customer service reps are confused chat bots or lying humans, but either way, their response below is just a straight up lie. I’ll copy and paste my email to them, which pointed out that the documents I signed and agreed to, did NOT contain the conditions they claim it did. In fact, when I emailed them the exact paragraphs, screenshots of the contract, etc., showing that their conditions were NOT agreed to, they closed my ticket. My email is below:

“Hi, you say this, but the below paragraph you “cite” regarding the childbirth proof of loss is nowhere to be found in the actual policy that I agreed to. See attached 1) screenshot of the policy with the search function highlighting that this is the only reference to childbirth in the entire document and 2) attached screenshot with the entire Part VI section, which does not define proof of loss as you do below. So where, exactly, did I agree to provide a birth certificate as proof of loss when I entered into this contract?

I would further point out that the bottom bullet point of IV(A)(I) (the “childbirth” bullet point) only states that “[y]ou will be attending an immediate family’s childbirth at the time of the event.” This bullet point contains absolutely no other conditions or requirements. Compare this to the bullet point directly above it, for instance, which specifically does place conditions on the exercise of that circumstance. Likewise, multiple other bullet points in IV(A)(I) specifically provide conditions to being able to exercise the use of that circumstance, such as requiring a physician visit. The specific inclusion of conditions on other circumstances in the exact same section as the childbirth bullet point logically implies that if there was a certain condition that needed to be met, such as the condition that the birth needed to have already occurred, it would have been listed in the paragraph just as the physician requirement was listed for a separate circumstance.

You seem to have conjured up the childbirth requirements on a whim in your email below, presumably in the hopes that people won’t actually read the policy they signed and just take your word for it. So once again, I ask you, can you show me exactly where I agreed to the conditions below? From my reading of the policy terms, the “proof of loss” absolutely does not require what you say it does, and in fact, it leaves the definition fairly broad so it seems to me that it it up to someone’s discretion what “counts” as proof of loss. I would ask that you put me in contact with the person whose discretion that is.”

Do not bother purchasing. Only has unrealistic categories to choose if you actually need to cancel an event even if the event is something small. complete nonsense

If I could give zero stars I would

If I could give zero stars I would. They wouldn’t fully refund what I paid, they are offering $50 back instead of $70. Also, when I go to pick how I want my refund, the link says Safari cannot open the page. Super dissatisfied with this and will never use this “insurance” again.

I will give -1000 of the review, this company is a scam. I buy this "insurance" for a 10K race that cost $50 USD but they require a doctor certificate that cost me $100 USD and even with that they are not willing to refund because common cold is not a "serious" illness don't buy from them

I’d give -10 stars if I could

I’d give -10 stars if I could. I bought this extra protections for the simple reason of virginia weather is very unpredictable and lo and behold we weren’t able to to go to kings dominion because of the weather. This so called protections couldn’t give me a refund for the fact of not having unnecessary documentation to be able to provide. Don’t use it it’s is a scam and very unprofessional

This is such a scam

This is such a scam! They have so many requirements in order to get your refund that it is almost impossible. They make their money knowing that people will pay the fee thinking they are getting piece of mind but that the chance they can actually provide the necessary documentation to get a refund is almost zero. I wish the places allowing this service as an add-on to their tickets would just stop, it isn’t useful insurance and I was even told by the event customer service to not buy it in the future as they are known for not paying any refunds. I was lucky that the event venue allowed me to switch the dates of my ticket when FanShield refused to refund the ticket. Going forward I will make sure I opt-out of this “insurance” when I purchase tickets.

Absolutely Horrible

Absolutely Horrible. What a SCAM
They Will not refund a race registration because im Self Employed. I have a business related conflict and that is the reason they will not refund my money . Because im self employed and do not receive a W2. What a crock of you know what. Thats discrimination. Ive filed a complaint with the better business bureau

Pleasantly Surprised

After reading reviews from other customers, I was quite concerned about getting my claim approved. However, I had a great experience. We bought season passes to our local ski mountain. About a week later, my wife blew her knee out, meaning she would not be able to ski this winter. It took a little time to get our documentation in order, but once I submitted our claim, it only took about two days for our claim to be approved and the refund for her pass to be deposited into our checking account.

It was shockingly painless, all things considered. If I have any advice, it would be to make sure you have your documentation in order and to file promptly after experiencing an issue.

A Bona-fide scam company

A Bona-fide scam company. They are rife with predatory marketing tactics banking on folks looking over fine print. Or taking advantage of people's excitement over an experience to let their guard down. And Fan Shield is enabled by companies like Six Flags who advertise their lies on the Six Flags site. Six Flags being another BIG problem. And good luck reaching anyone if you dare attempt a claim. They drag their feet and exude incompetence.
There's supposed to be a refund option for severe weather where flood watches, tornado warnings, road closures and 'what more of a reason' does one need at that point to where their safety can easily be in jeopardy of being compromised?!
It's quite disgusting and unapologetically greedy. And the kicker is of course the park (in this case Schlitterbaum Galveston) ended up being closed. And that's what they use as an out to take your money and overlook severe (no matter how it seems) weather conditions. Not to mention how detrimental the reasons for so called exceptions: a death, serious car accidents, critical, hospitalization, etc. Good God- it shouldn't have to be that egregious for venue or event ticket protection.

They are in the business of, again, predatory marketing to overpromise and rarely deliver. Even due to reasonable or extenuating circumstances.
DO NOT PURCHASE ANY FAKE COVERAGE from this joke of a company. Finally, I should have checked the reviews ( just atrocious), BBB, etc.
Learn from my mistake folks! Even better check out the other reviews.

No integrity. One star is too high. Save your money. Don't use them!

One star is too high. I'm surprised that they even get two stars.
SCAM! SCAM! SCAM!
It is impossible to get them to respond to specific issues or questions. They ask for more documentation, some they already have, for a simple absence than is required to immigrate legally to the USA.

They send out the same boiler plate B.S. every time you ask a question.

You can't reach anyone directly nor will they call you.

They have no integrity, no honesty,

They count on people to give up trying to get a deserved refund. I would wager they pay out on less than 1% of claims, if that.

There is no corporate information. They should be fined and closed down by whatever state where they are registered.

Just a bunch of crooks, cheaters and bandits.

Their insincere, canned iresponse underscores their disdain and disingenuous treatment of their customers. The avenues they suggest to contact them have been exhausted. They never reply to specific questions. They provide no name or number to contact directly for resolution.

Minus 10 stars!!!!

Dont... Resell if possible your not getting your money back

They require an exorbant amount of documents/ documentation on why you were in able to attend an event. Even if you died you need to prove that you died. Emergencies require doctors notes / bills. Car issues require police reports or insurance claim numbers. whatever your reason for filing a claim is you best to have all text messages, phone calls, a stenographer to record conversations and a notary to sign off on all of it. It's not even about the 30 dollars anymore. It's the principal. Don't do it.

Cancelation Protection is a SCAM

If there was a negative star rating they would get it!!! I purchased tickets for a concert, paid for cancelation protection and did end up needing to use it. Not only did I have to provide a reason which should be irrelevant for a concert ticket, it was denied. What's the point of offering protection if you're not going to honor it?

Do Not Purchase for Weather Related Protection

We purchased the insurance with our water park tickets. Since we purchased them in advance, we wanted insurance in case of weather issues. On the day of the event, there were four hours of 100% chance of severe thunderstorms in the area along with water spouts so we elected not to travel the 2.5 hours and request the weather related event refund. We were denied because it wasn't a "weather emergency" so basically this insurance doesn't cover bad weather.

I now get a reply from them saying it covers "unforeseen severe weather" but not "forecasted severe weather". This makes zero sense. So my recommendation is not to waste your money.

Such a scam the only they will pay out…

Such a scam the only they will pay out is if it was a Katrina, Maui fire, or snowmageddon. Then you need a written statement from the weather channel themselves declaring such event or the local police department stating the roads are closed. Doesn’t matter if the amusement park shows that the rides are closed due to lightning plus the 2”+ inch rain.
So save your money and just hope you make the event because you are better taking the $53 dollars and playing the lottery.
