Five stars for Rym, an EXCEPTIONAL GUIDE who made Algeria unforgettable, and also for Fancyellow Tours!

We booked directly through Fancyellow Tours and Islam arranged everything. His communication skills were excellent, answering my numerous questions and ensuring he connected us with the proper guide as well as ensuring our specific needs were met in regard to a newer vehicle for safety reasons and including air-conditioning.

Rym was absolutely the BEST. She was our guide on both our Best of Algiers and Cherchell–Tipaza tours. Her excellent English, warm personality and engaging explanations brought the Casbah, Notre-Dame d’Afrique and Tipaza’s Roman ruins to life.

Rym’s guidance gave us a REMARKABLE understanding of Algeria’s history and culture in a short time. With my husband having been born in Algeria, these tours were especially meaningful, connecting us to his roots and bringing his heritage to life.

Rym went above and beyond, taking photos and videos of us and even offering to create and send us a keepsake video. Her thoughtfulness made our visit extra special.

Fancy Yellow is a group of excellent people - from founder Omar through his teams of drivers, organisers and expert guides in Algiers and the provinces. I am just back from 10 days with Fancy Yellow in Algieria and am already planning a return with the whole family in 2026. From pre-planning and visa support, through flights, hotels, drives, trips, food, currency - to the waving off at the airport - superb. Fancy Yellow is like Algerian people themselves - fair, honest, warm and welcoming. Go and go quick!

Algeria is not an easy country to visit I was told, but Fancyellow makes it seem otherwise. In the north (Algiers, Constantine) they have some excellent guides who are not only very knowledgable, but also fun to hang out with. In the south (Djanet, Tamanrasset) they use a local operator (Mouflon) that worked out great for us, although other travellers had some lesser experiences. So a huge thumbs up to Islam, Jasmine (Algiers), Bilal (I found the only Tool lover in the whole of Algeria in Constantine) and the brilliant trio Ali, Suleiman and Mehdi (Djanet).

Btw 1: if only the Algerian custom officials would make a visit to Algeria more pleasant. Do not bring binoculars for they will confiscate it as spy material, and you also run the risk with telelenses. We were actually singled out by the Algerian secret police at Algiers airport!

Btw 2: all national flights in Algeria are primarily in the middle of the night and nobody knows why. So be ready for some sleep deprivation!

Btw 3: go and visit Algeria now! If you can handle btw 1 and 2, you will visit a country unspoiled by mass tourism. People are genuinely friendly, you will be the sole visitor to huge impressive Roman archeological sites like Djemila and Timgad and you get to see the most beautiful and stunning part of the Sahara desert (Djanet)

I have travelled all over the world, & hands down this was THE BEST experience I have ever had with a tour company!!! Omar was absolutely fabulous!!! With his wicked sense of humour, vast knowledge of his home country, & having travelled a lot globally himself, the conversations were as much the highlight of the trip as were the destinations! This trip to Algeria was on my bucket list for twenty years, so to finally get there & have a perfectly tailored experience for me (a mad history junkie) & be entertained along the way, made the whole experience better than I could have wished for. The other personnel that offered their guidance on the various places we visited, were also very knowledgable & personable, & genuinely seemed invested in offering the best perspective of their culture, & best experiences to highlight their country - which everyone in general, was very proud to share & SO welcoming.
For the entire trip, right from the get go, I felt as though Omar was a mate I was catching up with after many years apart, who I could chat with, dine with, & debate with freely on many topics. This big bear of a man, is the most gentle, kind, reassuring, & caring man who I am know very privileged to call my friend. I would not hesitate to recommend Fancy Yellow Travel to anyone.

This is the second time I have used Omar and his company Fancy Yellow to tour Algeria and again the service was excellent

I booked a trip in Djanet through this agency after seeing the online reviews and I can say it was a mostly a sacm and disaster.

First they are not based in Djanet and have no clue about the available circuits and options for the areas. They will only provide you with a day rate and a generic iteneray which might or might not work for you (did not in my case). Omar while responsive have no clue about Djanet and unless you are fine with the generic tour they have on their website he won't be able to help much.

Second, as opposed to Djanet based agencies, they are just middle-mans. In my case, they pocketed the money in hard currency and then hired another agency (not based on Djanet) which in turn hired a local guide to do all the work while pocketing more than 100% markup as per my understanding. The result is while I paid top money for the tour with the expectation of full and decent covererage, instead I got a cheap incoherent tour and very little information to help me decide on the itenerary. Also I was driven in torn down dirty car, demotivated driver and no guide (I paid for one!), mediocre food and camping equipment while paying top money. Cherry on top the last day while the tour finished at 4pm, I was left on my own in Djanet for 12 hours. When I spoke to Omar they suggestee to put me in a torn down appartment outside the city center to wait.

The other trick they do, is they use official exchange rate to quote you the different costs. Then ask you to pay in hard currency in cash and then exchange the money in black market and pocket another 100% markup! In my case I realised that they probably charged me 400$ on top of the usual tour cost just leveraging the exchange rate trick. Also they made me pay probably 4 times the going rate for local taxi !!!

For a trip to Djanet or anywhere far from Alger, I would avoid them. There many other local agencies with access to better cars, better guides and will make your trip more enjoyable worth the money you pay.

I and my daughter finally got to visit Algeria thanks to the assistance of Fancyellow Travel and not unexpectedly had a great visit courtesy of Omar and his guide team. As tour organisers and entertaining company they are fantastic and I can highly recommend them to anyone contemplating a visit to Algeria, a greatly undervalued tourist destination.

I lived in Algeria for 3 years and wanted to bring Turkish people to see this beautiful country. Omar guided me through Algiers and arranged for my tours and travels to Constantine. Once there Karim took me and some local friends on a City Tour as well as the Djemila and Timgad Tours. The Sights were absolutely gorgeous and the History was rich. But above all else the People were kind.

I had a wonderful time in Algeria and cannot wait to visit it again. I can’t recommend Fancyellow enough!

I had the pleasure of being part of a wonderful tour of Algeria in February, Omar, Bill and Amin couldn't have been more kind, helpful and well organised. As a mobility impaired person, Omar made sure I was well looked after in terms of access to the fantastic historical sites of Constantine and Djemila as well as the beautiful town of Taghit deep in the Sahara Desert. Really excellent and friendly service!
We booked a package for 2 persons for Ghardaia, with pick up at Algiers Airport, private transfer to Ghardaia, hotel, local tour and flight back to Algiers. We were completely satisfied with the communication with Omar during the booking, assistance for visa (invitation letter), and also the careful attention during the days of the trip.
Everything went well, the car and driver to Ghardaia, a good and friendly driver.
And our local guide at Ghardaia, Mr. Mounir, was also really great, with excellent explanations, and he made us have a really great and interesting day there.
And all this at a good and fair price.
All in all, we highly recommend Fancyellow and Omar!

My friend and I spent almost two weeks in Algeria recently, and couldn’t have asked for a better guide than Omar. Perfectly organized, always flexible to our wishes, Omar speaks excellent English and is always calm, kind and confident. Algeria always felt safe, but even more so is with Omar, who dwarfs most other people! Highly, highly recommended!

Without a doubt the best tour and travel agency you will find in Algeria.

After days of research I found couple of travel agency via Google but I chose this and I'm glad that this travel agency turned out to be the best.

Overall procedure to visit Algeria is quite difficult when you are applying visa from western countries.

I would just like to share my personal experience as well.
I approached couple of well know agency for invitation letter and they asked me 100$ -150$ just for providing invitation letter.
And when I approached Umar from Fancyellow he provided me 'Invitation letter' without even charging a penny and infact he invited me to his place for lunch.
That was very over whelming and kind gesture which you don't get it from everyone especially when you are a stranger and a new client.
At that moment itself I decided I will go with this agency :)

On the other hand most of the other agencies just cared about Money :/

One of the best tourism Agency, had a great experience

I took a tour of Algiers. It was a very satisfying tour to take me to interesting shops and restaurants that I couldn't find personally.
In particular, World Heritage Casbah was a maze-like road, so I thought it would be difficult to take a walk efficiently by myself. It was good on the tour.
I was able to increase my new knowledge by being taught clues to small history that I didn't notice.
I want to come to Algeria again.

This time I participated in the Ghardaia tour using this travel agency.
Guides explained every detail of the village system and culture that exists in Ghardaia, and I was able to understand the town of Gardia, including its history.
It was a safe and reliable travel agency that could be contacted smoothly for inquiries.
I definitely want to use it again when touring other towns.
