I like how easy it is to maneuver and i learned a lot.

The program was flexible. It really improved my research skills. It exposed me to the consulting world. I had the chance to speak with company managers to ask questions. I built great communication skills through the opportunity to participate in the final presentation.

Amazing experience, I love extern because it help you develop skills and manage on your own time remotely while adding important names in your resume opening opportunities in big companies.

Extern gave me my first real exposure to the world of venture capital. Through the HP Tech Ventures, IgniteXL, and PwC externships, I worked on real projects that challenged me to think like an investor.

I explored different theses, looked at startups across industries, and learned how due diligence actually works. Each experience built on the last and helped me understand not just the mechanics of VC but the mindset behind it.

More than anything, Extern helped me realize this is where I want to be. It lit a fire in me to stay in this space and keep pushing forward. That drive eventually led me to a full-time role at a seed stage startup in San Francisco, where I’m continuing to grow and build every day.

I enjoyed the training and sample work that were available. It gave me a glimpse of what they expected from me and I added my creativity and findings. It was my guide and it was super helpful! We also had the opportunity to have weekly meetings with the company we were working for to ask questions and gather enough data for our research. This helped me to build relationships with my client to have a genuine understanding of their problem and I love that!

I had a great experience with the Extern platform! The Leap externship gave me the chance to work on a real-world marketing campaign—from influencer research to creating content and pitching a full strategy. I applied for several externships through the website, and was able to see what stage in the review process I was in, which I thought was very transparent. However, I didn’t move past “under review” for a while, even months after the externship was supposed to start. I got an email even a month after that with a rejection notice. I understand the selectivity, but I was also told at several points along the application process, and in their media and newsletter, that the company prides itself on timely and accurate communication. It’s disheartening to see then, that they essentially ghosted me for months and then sent me an email after the externship had already started.

My experience was great because I had the opportunity to independently research and analyze consumer sentiment, which enhanced my data analysis and marketing skills. The company provided a supportive environment with helpful feedback, allowing me to apply what I learned in real-world scenarios. Their focus on understanding Gen Z consumer behavior and brand positioning was insightful and aligned with current industry trends.

This project was great and I will use the skills that I have learned in my future endeavors. Extern did a great job making all the "modules" easy to understand and work through.

Extern's student platform was easy to navigate and offered a great deal of information. I was able to take in topics easily due to there being visuals, text, and videos used throughout each week to cover every topic and walk through project intentions. The project managers has some missteps in communication when it came to meetings but when meetings did happen they answered questions and covered important information. Meeting with employees from Beats was an incredible opportunity. I enjoyed learning from them as well. If given the opportunity I would do another Externship.

A Truly Enriching Externship Experience

My externship with Webacy and Extern has been an incredible learning journey. The program provided me with hands-on experience in blockchain and Web3 security research, helping me develop valuable skills that are essential for the future of cybersecurity. I enjoyed the whole externship experience with Extern and HP Tech Ventures, from the user friendly and easy application process, to the flexibility of the schedule, the onboarding at the start of the externship, the various training materials provided before each project, the manager and company meetings, and the offboarding upon completion were exceptional.
