I am incredulous that this place hasnt…

I am incredulous that this place hasnt been done yet.

My termimally ill brother did his tac through them and was charged $900 as a fee from a small refund. I remember calling to try and talk to someome, his calls and emails were ignored. He’s since passed away, only 2 weeks ago, and I called to ask for an explanation, spoke to someone and was never contacted again.

STAY AWAY - i’m disgusted at how a company can prey on the weak. I’m im talks with legal help to notify the appropriate regulatory bodies.

UPDATE - in disputes resolution after not receiving any messages until I’d complained to two bodies - AFCA advised they couldn’t help because these cow boys aren’t a part of it. They sent through an apology only after weeks of apologising and sent through the statement with a $900 fee on it AND OFFERED TO REFUND HALF IF I TOOK THIS REVIEW DOWN. They didn’t respond after I advised this wasn’t close to good enough, shock horror.

Let me spell it out, $4200 tax return for my late twin, they charged him a $900 fee, took advantage of him and then refused to respond, to then come back and offer me half of that refunded! DO NOT ENGAGE THIS PREDATORY FIRM.

Further update from express tax back noting reply

- We note your recent correspondence and the additional comments made on google reviews.

While we appreciate that this has been a difficult time for you and your family, we have made every effort to act reasonably and in good faith throughout this matter. Our offer of a 50% reduction in fees was extended as a gesture of goodwill, despite the service provided being in accordance with our obligations.

We also acknowledge the delay in our recent reply, which was due to the public holiday long weekend. While unfortunate, this does not reflect a lack of willingness to engage — rather, it was a timing issue beyond immediate control.

You have since pursued the matter through AFCA, and as you are aware, they have declined to proceed with mediation. This outcome further supports our position that we have acted appropriately and within the scope of our professional duties.

At this point, it is clear that we are unable to reach a mutual resolution. The business owner is currently considering whether any further engagement or review of this matter is warranted. Therefore, at this point we consider the matter closed.

END OF REPLY.

Have a good read people, this business believes leaving a terminally ill client waiting on a reply for weeks and offering 50% of ridiculous fee is fair mediation.

They also said AFCA declined to mediate and that supports their position. No, AFCA stated that they can’t do anything because they’re not a company that is governed by AFCA, I wonder why they chose to do that? Please read below for AFCAS reply about this company -

“Unfortunately, after reviewing your complaint, we must let you know that we are unable to lodge your complaint as Express Tax Back is not a member of the Australian Financial Complaints Authority. AFCA can only consider complaints against financial firms and service providers who are members.”

At any rate, they’re keeping the whole fee and consider the matter closed as you can see. They also apologised for the service they provided by twin noting it wasn’t good enough, then state in this final email that it was in their guidelines to not reply for weeks and charge a $900 fee.

STAY AWAY!!!

They have taken nearly $700 dollars…

They have taken nearly $700 dollars from my refunds and not told be about certain refunds, trying to keep the money for themselves.

They rely on people who were on a 417 worming holiday visa, to leave after there visa is up and not come back to the country. They will then take any tax that you are owed from the government and they even took all of my superannuation without telling me.

This company makes there profits by stealing money off of tourists and other unsuspecting people.

Do not even put your details is on their website as one you do, they will withdraw your money and bot inform you.

They are extremley expensive

They are extremley expensive. They start of with charging you 160 Dollars PLUS a minimum of 25 percent on all the money you get back on your claim. Thats the base rate, if they feel, like they had to do a lot for your claim, rates will increase.
