Mixed bag
Good price compared with competition. It's definitely geared for simple tax returns. Rudimentary interface. For example, one can't always go directly back to the previous page. It would be nice to be able to see the IRS forms used. It would help if filing for an extension didn't require so much data entry: surely the task tends to be done at the last minute, because probably mostly procrastinators need to file for extensions. I'm always left uncertain of whether I did my filing completely and right.

Help when needed.
I was confused with a portion of the return and emailed staff for help. Very quickly I received an answer. This is our 4th year using this service and 2nd time that I reached out for help and got it. I recommend Expatfile because the program is easy to,navigate and they’re there for you if need be.

Expatfile is the answer for all Americans living abroad!
Oh boy did Expatfile answer all of my prayers! They make it so easy as an American living abroad. I’m currently a student full time living outside of the USA. No other system, service or accountant has made it as easy as Expatfile in filing my taxes with such a unique status. Last year was a breeze and this year even easier. Also unlike TurboTax, their Customer Service is super fast, personable, and they don’t require you to pay for the ultra premium to get the white hand glove service. My customer rep was Max and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Happy customer and tax filer over here!

Expert file was designed for people like me who live abroad.
I live in France. This is my third year using Expat File and I have never had a problem. The instructions are clear and there are people standing by to answer questions if they arise. I feel like Aix Pat file is designed for people like me who live abroad. I highly recommend Expat File. Also it’s affordable and bonus! this year they were able to file my FBAR.
