Avoid-Avoid-Avoid!!!
I would have been better off having set my money on fire in the parking lot. Waste of money and time. DO NOT TRUST this Organization.
pretty disgusted
ExecRanks was a complete debacle. I actually got less than nothing for my $200 / month because they created work for me. For example, I had to rewrite the profile they wrote for me, because it was not English.
I pulled the plug pretty quickly. I happened to connect with management at a company that ExecRanks had listed as an advisory board opportunity. They said that before the listing came to their attention, they'd never heard of ExecRanks. That was a deal breaker.
I was already annoyed, however, because I'd discovered the listings were padded with nonstarters. Had I known of them to begin with, I would never have signed up. In most cases the advisory work was really third party marketing, which paid only for success raising capital. In other cases, non-profits were looking for Pro Bono work. I asked repeatedly for the percentage of listings in these two buckets. No one would give me a straight answer. No one in a position of responsibility would talk to me or write me back at all. Soon after I signed up, compensation-related information disappeared from all the the listings, so the question became even more critical.
What do you call the means ExecRanks employed to induce me to sign up? Fraudulent? Deceptive? Highly manipulative? False pretense? Bottom line, they denied me access to information highly material to my decision to sign up.
Why am I bothering to write this? The accusations of sleazy business practices aren't new. I'm writing it to point out that the real sin is the way ExecRanks takes advantage of people who are down and out. They're trying to find work, and they continue to pay for longer than they should because don't want to be without access to what appear to be thousands of leads. So this company is really capitalizing on people who are in a particularly vulnerable state. Pretty disgusting. The question is why ExecRanks has such prominent real estate on LinkedIn.
My learned experience
After reading the comments, I see myself in this company getting one “line” after another. They also lowered my money, and have still not provided anything. I wish I had read these comments before. Have paid close to $600 and received nothing. Almost every comment is exactly what has happened to me. Don’t even think about dealing with them.
I really thought that they were a reputable firm. I actually spoke with one person who gave a damn, but she and others just kept on spouting the same jargon, it takes time! I never saw a board member request, just advisor requests.
As I said, I wish I knew about these reviews because there is no way in hell that I would have signed on. Every review below was exactly what happened to me. I guess where a scam is happening and they are so good at it, you keep on taking part.
I am a very bright woman who feel extremely stupid that I let them take advantage of me.
hard sell, non professional team
lots of promises and really, you are going to charge ME $200 to write my own profile, when you have the LinkedIn API? only one good review exists and that's a consultant who worked for the firm. There isn't one case study with a last name on the site that can be verified, CEO didn't graduate from Penn hasn't been on any boards, none of their supposed clients responded when I contacted them as suggested by their salespeople
DO NOT give Advisory Cloud your Credit Card
Any good company allows one to cancel as they care about their reputation more than the money. #AdvisoryCloud is all about the $.
This means they will not last long.
This was a typical grab your money…
This was a typical grab your money before you provide any service or results. I gave this six months, listened to all the hype and promise of a board seat, or advisory board openings. To say the least, I am more than qualified for this type of work, but Exec Ranks fell way short of matching my skillset to the opportunities. Very dissappointed and although this looked like a good idea, it was not for me, and as I read the reviews of others who paid and received nothing, dont waste your time here,
PS not one interraction in 6 months
Horrible experience
Horrible experience. They did not deliver on any of their promises or follow through. I called to cancel my membership and just saw they charged again yesterday so I called them again and now they wont give me a refund. Unfortunately I have to go through my bank.
These recent couple reviews honestly…
These recent couple reviews honestly boggle me. I spent time as an inside consultant with this organization. I will admit, not everything ran as smooth as it should have in the past. Hence, why my team was brought in. But this is seriously a group of very talented leaders looking to become a dominant force in this space. The re-brand was not to get away from The ExecRanks, but to provide a much more dialed-in and effective service. The new add-ons, leadership and commitment are top-notch! Before you comment on the re-vamped service, I would suggest knowing the details.
They changed their name to try and get…
They changed their name to try and get away from their reviews to advisory cloud. don't be fooled and don't waster your time and money.
Ditto all the other 1 star…
Ditto all the other 1 star ratings.....not proactive or responsive; took me 10 minutes online to find a phone number for anybody there other than sales; promised follow ups never happened; got stood up for a meeting with my so called "advocate"; someone else belatedly stepped in and promised to get me more opportunities but he sent me things that had no connection to my bio and business interests. Complete non event. Had applications out for months and never heard from anybody ever on why status hadn't changed after more than 6 months. When I signed up they said we'd have results in 4-6 months. It's all BS. They're so bad they played the old pea game by changing their name to get the stink off ExecRanks but don't be fooled--it's the same bunch of clowns working there. Where the hell is senior managment on this aside from hauling their money to the bank?
Definately a waste of time and money
Many negative reviews across the web regarding this organization, and I don't disagree with the unfavorable assessment of those reviews. The pricing is outrageous and is a complete fail in terms of delivering value.
The sales pitch is very slick and hits all the 'emotional' hot buttons to drive a one call close. ExecRanks promises to 'write' a summary and then match skills, based on this profile, with interested companies. In my situation, ExecRanks literally copied and pasted my LinkedIn summary and then added skills tags (also nearly identical to my LinkedIn profile), which they charged for as an 'add-on' cost.
The "matching" companies are supposedly looking for advisors / board members with the relevant skills, based on your profile. However, this 'matching' is so generic that it was almost impossible to understand why I was matched with the companies.
When I called to cancel my membership, they provided a much less expensive monthly fee, and then sent me a list of "curated" matches from their customer success team. These matches were even less relevant, and a waste of time to apply. After all of the expense and time spent applying for useless advisory / board positions, I cancelled my membership
I'd give this outfit zero stars if I…
I'd give this outfit zero stars if I could.
First, they billed me $200 for writing a bio for me. It was filled with spelling errors, and couldn't even get its facts straight. I had to rewrite it from scratch.
I just cancelled after nine months, during which I received a grand total of ZERO suggested opportunities. When I phoned in to cancel, the rep brazenly told me that if they'd only known, they could have "straightened it out". There is, of course, no way to contact them.
Worst of all, they billed me just yesterday but refused to refund my payment. They're "graciously" giving me a "whole billing cycle".
Holy Smokes, what fairness! What generosity! What a boon to greater mankind!
Total waste of time
Total waste of time. Promise to send you recommendations each month. Never happens. Just a numbers game put your money on buying a lottery ticket. Total misrepresentaion
Don't ever sign up
Don't ever sign up. Waste of money. 11 months of nothing.
Suspicious - would not use or recommend
I have conducted over 100 board searches and interviewed over 1000 board members. I have never come across any candidate or company that has ever used. this service. Out of curiosity, I reached out to execrank and asked them to respond to claims that their advertising and references were misleading. No one ever responded. I was able to get in contact with one of the persons advertised on an exec rank testimonial. He told me that the testimonial appeared without his consent and was himself dissatisfied with execrank and would never do business with them again
Its been 3 months now with ExecRanks
Its been 3 months now with ExecRanks. Lots of calls and follow-ups prior joining, but zero calls or follow-ups after joining as member. No track of any member, and no updates. All promises to have a monthly call update to check progress is not as claimed.
Terrible company.
Whatever you do, DO NOT sign up for this. It is a complete waste of time. However, the worst part is the fact that if you don't cancel within 15 days of the next payment (which is substantial), they will still charge you that final payment.
Do an about face on Exec Ranks and don't look back.
I signed up in August of 2018 and studiously went through lessons, wrote and built my resume from 45 professional years in aviation - military and commercial airlines, leadership and management, read reviews, lessons etc., and got absolutely zero out of it. Tried to submit an application but the website would not accept it. Called for support and Exec Ranks personnel say I must use Chrome browser, which then stops me out for a security issue with the exec ranks website. Exactly zero companies called me, and very few look like they are searching on the site. Save your money and go elsewhere. This business is in the "fleecing" business. A complete and total waste of time if you are serious about looking for employment or advisory positions to supplement as follow on work from a career.
I had a very similar experience as some…
I had a very similar experience as some of the posts. Set up profile, applied to over a dozen positions that fit my profile and zero feedback or movement of my application through the process. Also, the peer to peer advisory is absolutely fake. Those people don't actually exist. Simply demo data to fill out the website. Don't waste your time or money.
Not As Advertised
I cancelled the agreement and demanded a full refund because of the discrepancies between what was offered by ExecRank and what was initially delivered.
The ExecRank Sales Representative stated that board positions pay, on the average, $10-15k per year. The word “pay” usually refers to money for work performed but most positions I reviewed are seeking venture funding or are willing to compensate with equity in an early-stage company that has an unknown value. During the onboarding phone meeting, the Client Services Representative recommended that a meeting rate of $500, which is a long way from the rate stated by the sales representative.
The Sales Representative also stated that the profile that would be created for me would be
so professional that it could be used to improve my Linkedin page. He said, “It costs $195 because it’s worth it.” While the Client Services Representative was pleasant and helpful in reviewing how to use the ExecRank sites, the profile “created” was merely copied from of a small portion of my Linkedin profile.
Since the promises made and what was delivered were substantially different, I cancelled the subscription before my profile was posted and demand a full refund. ExecRanks, responded that the fees were non-refundable. I, then, filed a dispute with my credit card company which was adjudicated in my favor.
