Euroway Daf High Wycombe. Totally incompetent!
Euroway Daf High Wycombe.
A DAF Workshop which is part of The Ryder Group of companies.
i left a truck with them in march 2018 for its annual test and LEC test.
When i booked the truck in, one thing I asked for was for them to check the headlight alignment before the test.
A couple of days later I received a call to say that the truck had failed its test, it failed on a few small things, a small split in a rubber hose, Tachograph calibration, this was due to an error by the company who carried out the calibration (Not Euroway DAF)
Headlight alignment (Not carried out by Euroway DAF even though it had been requested)
Dirt on the number plate light, which again should have normally been picked up when light were checked.
When i mentioned that I had asked for the lights to be checked a guy behind the counter said as he walked by "we haven't got the time to p**s about with that"
It appears that they forgot about the LEC test?
I replaced the rubber hose, I aligned and checked the lights myself, paid the bill and the vehicle was left for it's retest.
I was told that it may take a few weeks due to them being busy, but as I could not use the vehicle until the test had been passed and even if I had taken it elsewhere, I would have still had to wait weeks for a test.
Time went by, I called the garage a few times but without much success.
I lose another three month job due to the truck being stuck there (this is the second job that I have lost)
Then I get a call from the service manager, he says that he is calling about my truck, At last! I think, I ask if it is ready, he answers something like ready for what?
I ask if it has now been tested? and he asks, "Is it here for a test?"
I tell him that it was, he apologises and says that he was on his way to the airport to fly out on holiday when it arrived and that nobody had informed him of this????
I explain to this guy what has happened so far, I tell him about the comment made to me about the lighting check and he admit to knowing who probably said it.
He goes away and says that he will see about getting the test carried out.
More time goes by, I get another call , I am informed that a front brake caliper is now seized and that I need new calipers?
I explain that the truck had had the rear brake discs and pads replaced by another DAF dealer about 36 hours before it was delivered to EUROWAY DAF, they carried out a brake check before it left them and that the brakes had no faults.
It had obviously seized whilst sitting outside for what was then months awaiting it's test.
At first I was going to visit their workshop and check the brake caliper myself, I even sourced a use brake caliper for £99.00, but after contacting DAF UK and explaining what had happened, I was advised to stay away, by I believe their regional manager, so i did.
I get another call, this time i am informed that the truck has made it into the workshop, but the batteries have had it and they have fitted new batteries, when I query this I am informed that it happens when you fit cheap batteries.
Cheap batteries? Yuasa Batteries at around £130.00 each??
Oh by the way, they were brand new when the truck was dropped off and the batteries were date marked, he goes and checks the batteries, apologies and says that he will put them on charge.
he also says that they have traced the faulty earth cable on the charge circuit (they were not asked to rectify this) I was also informed that the fueling fault had been rectified (What fuelling fault, it didn't have one?)
That is the final straw, I have lost almost a years work due my truck being stuck there, plus the cost of storage for the year, vehicle excise duty, insurance etc.
I contact Ryder in birmingham, relay, explain the situation and leave it in their hands.
After about six weeks, they call and inform me that the truck is ready, I ask about the LEC test and I was told, " you can check that when you collect the truck" I explain that if it has not passed the test, I will receive a fine as it is kept inside the Low Emission Zone, she says that she will check.
A week goes by and she calls again It has now passed the LEC test"
As this fiasco has now cost me somewhere between £60-70,000.00, I ask what they intend to do about this?
the young lady in Customer Services Birmingham, asks me to put it all in writing and send it in.
The arrogant "Dealer Principal"?? at Euroway DAF threatens to charge me £20.00 per day storage if I don't remove my truck in five days!
I call Customer Services, I also call this guy From Euroway DAF.
I explain that I would have prefered to have been able to collect the truck in March 2018 and that if his staff had done the job they were asked and paid to do last year, the truck would not be there and I would not have lost the business that I have.
He informs me that it was my fault as I had not authorised the repair, WHAT REPAIRS? it was there for its annual test!
He said that it failed its first test because of the seized front brake caliper??
I contacted the DAF dealer that had carried out the work on the brakes and they confirmed that they had carried out a brake test after they had completed their work and that all the brakes were working.
I next telephoned the DVSA who carried out the original test< they confirmed that the truck had passed it's roller brake test and that there was an advisory note, probably due to the fact that the brakes had just been replaced, but the brake caliper was not seized when they carried out the first test.
So all the other Daf dealers and the DVSA it seems are telling lies and I have paid the other dealer for work and they have sent me away with a dangerous truck!!
So here I am, almost a year later, around £70,000.00 poorer as I entrusted my vehicle to EUROWAY DAF.
I cannot collect the truck before this is settled. so back on the telephone Monday morning and the CEO will have to talk to me
You have been warned.
