A visit to Erbil Restaurant in Edgware…
I visited Erbil Restaurant in Edgware Road W2 on the evening of 10/11/2024.
What I will say about this experience is it won’t be repeated.
The evening began very well with a wonderful golden lentil soup as a starter. It was not requested, so I assumed it was part of the offering.
I was then given a really nice salad, which again was not ordered, so I thought it was all part of the sit-down meal.
At this point all was looking great as both the soup and salad were very tasty, so I was well set for the main meal.
The main meal arrived, then everything took a dive.
The food was warm and tasteless, the bread was a cross between a naan and a poppadom because it was soft around the edges, but so hard and dry at the centre, it was inedible.
I have eaten at countless grills and encountered a variety of meats, but there was one piece on the plate I couldn’t recognise. When I asked the server what type of meat it was, he was unsure and unable to give me a straight answer. He said it was some sort of mince put together.
The taste of the meat was pretty much like a value burger with a lot less flavour. I couldn’t finish the meal and ate less than half. I also had a small glass of orange with the meal and the menu price was £14.99 plus the orange. When I went to pay, what I presume is the owner, asked if I enjoyed the meal and I had to be honest and told him the food was warm, the meats were burned and dry, so it was not as good as I expected. He said the meat was burnt due to the sauce on it and next time things will be better.
Needless to say, there will be no next time, and for my troubles, I was charged £22, so I guess the soup and the salad were not part of the offering.
