Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 330 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Many customers expressed dissatisfaction with the service, citing issues with car availability, unexpected cancellations, and problems with the rental process itself. People frequently encountered difficulties with customer service, describing staff as unhelpful, dismissive, and hard to reach, leading to frustration and unresolved issues. Reviewers also reported being overcharged or facing hidden fees, with final costs often exceeding initial expectations due to undisclosed charges for things like fuel, insurance, or winter tires. However, some customers also noted positive experiences with specific staff members who provided exceptional service, were friendly, and went above and beyond to resolve issues or assist with their rentals. These positive interactions often involved efficient processes, helpful assistance with car exchanges, and a pleasant demeanor from the staff.

Very disappointed with my recent…

Very disappointed with my recent experience with Enterprise at Bristol Airport.

When collecting the vehicle, I was advised that the additional insurance would cost around £45. I agreed based on that information, only to later discover that I had actually been charged £85. When I contacted customer support to query the charge, I was initially told it was for an additional rental day. After further investigation, I was then told it was actually for insurance products purchased at the desk.

The most frustrating part has been the conflicting information and lack of communication. I was first told I would receive a response within 48 hours. When I followed up, I was told it would take 5 working days. Despite waiting longer than advised, I still had to chase for answers myself.

I have no issue paying for services I knowingly agree to, but customers should be given clear and accurate pricing before charges are applied, and customer service should provide consistent information when queries arise.

Unfortunately, this experience has left me with little confidence in both the transparency of the sales process and the handling of customer complaints.

ENTERPRISE Hobby Airport - Superb Customer Service

I wish to commend Ms. Pamla Randall of Enterprise Hobby Airport in Houston, Texasfor her exceptional service. On June 10, 2026, Ms. Randall assisted us with a vehicle exchange process. We had reached an impasse, having been informed by both regional and local Enterprise offices that no resolution was possible. Ms. Randall was the sole individual who identified a viable solution, and she facilitated the exchange within a mere five minutes. Her bubbly personality helped ease our frustration. Huge thank you !!

A booked car was cancelled as I was halfway to pickup point.

I called Enterprise in UK and booked a rental over the phone and provided details. A few minutes later I received the email confirmation.
Halfway to the destination for car pickup I received a call from Enterprise in Taunton UK advising then had no cars (none at all) available. One star just seems too many.

RENTER BEWARE!!!

I would strongly caution anyone renting from Enterprise to thoroughly inspect and photograph their vehicle before leaving the lot.

I rented a van from Enterprise's North Phoenix location on Happy Valley Road for a one-way trip to Boise, Idaho. My reservation pickup was at 9:00 a.m., but when we arrived, the vehicle wasn't ready. We waited approximately 45 minutes while they supposedly prepared it. Unfortunately, the van was still filthy, and it appeared that all they had done was quickly hose off the exterior.

Before leaving the lot, I took photos of existing damage because something didn't feel right. During our 13-hour drive across the desert, my husband repeatedly checked the tires every time we stopped. When I finally asked why, he told me the tires were in terrible condition and he was genuinely concerned about our safety.

Thankfully, we made it to Boise without incident. When we returned the van at the Boise airport, my husband immediately pointed out the tires to the employee checking us in and told him that someone could get seriously injured if those tires weren't replaced. The employee was shocked by their condition, gave us a discount on the rental, and assured us the vehicle would not be rented again until the issue was corrected.

A short time later, I received a notice claiming that I had damaged the van and would be responsible for repairs.

What followed was weeks of frustration. I repeatedly requested photographs showing the condition of the vehicle before I took possession. The claims department told me to contact the rental location. The rental location told me to contact the claims department. Emails went unanswered. Multiple follow-ups were ignored. It wasn't until I sent emails with delivery and read receipts attached that someone finally responded.

Even then, Enterprise still failed to provide the photos I had requested. Instead, they asked me for my photos. That's backwards. If you're accusing a customer of causing damage, the burden should be on you to prove it.

Despite my repeated requests for evidence, Enterprise continued sending demands that I file claims through my insurance company and credit card company. I refused because I knew the damage already existed. Eventually, Enterprise filed a claim with my insurance carrier anyway.

Fortunately, I had documented the vehicle before leaving the lot. After reviewing my photos, my insurance company determined that the damage existed prior to my rental and denied Enterprise's claim.

The most concerning part of this experience wasn't the claim itself—it was the complete lack of documentation, the failure to respond to reasonable requests, and what felt like an attempt to pressure me into paying for damage that I did not cause.

The Boise employee who checked us in appeared to do his job correctly. The real issue seems to be a breakdown in the inspection and documentation process before the vehicle was ever rented to me.

This experience cost me hours of my time and created unnecessary stress. I will never rent from Enterprise again, nor will I use any affiliated rental company. My advice to anyone renting a vehicle—regardless of the company—is simple: take detailed photos and videos of every side of the vehicle before you leave the lot. It may save you from dealing with the same situation I experienced.

Terrible Customer Service

Made a reservation with Enterprise in Ogden, Utah at their 3212 Wall Ave location for May 29th-May 31st. Selected the time we needed to have the rental picked up by BECAUSE we had to make it out of town to a funeral (5 hr drive). They proceeded to call us the day of and tell us they don't have any vehicles ready and it was going to be roughly 2 hrs past our scheduled pickup time before they had something ready for us. Needless to say we finally got to pick it up 1.5 hrs after our scheduled time, which in return, caused us to miss the funeral. When I went inside to do all the paperwork for the rental, the manager on duty was sitting over at a desk about 15 feet away. I asked the agent helping us, "Is there something you can do for us for the inconvenience that has been caused" He turns to his manager and asks him if there is something they could do for us, and without any hesitation or a simple walk over to apologize for what had happened, he looks over and says "ya probably not" in the most careless, unapologetic attitude someone could possible have. I am actually still waiting for a call back from the higher up manager. Been 3 days and was supposed to hear back in 1 day. Terrible customer service. There is a reason why they are so cheap with their prices. They know they can treat people like crap because they are still going to get the business due to low prices. NOT ME ANYMORE!!!!

Credit Card Scammers and unsafe cars

I rented for 31 days from Richmond VAStaple Mills location. while my car was in the shop. My first car had a broken seatbelt, my second car had a smoke smell, my third car did not have any washer fluid. Leading to separate visits back to enterprise to swap out or rectify the problems. The other issue is by the 3rd car i asked to upgrade to an SUV with AWD and was verbally quoted about an extra 7 dollars per day. It ended up being double. I never signed a new agreement on the new numbers and did not receive a new RA. These were all avoidable and preventable issues, and I am the only one that has to suffer the consequences.

I reached out to enterprise directly and they never responded. So i opened an AMEX dispute and they fought it. AMEX ended up doing a chargeback in my favor. Now enterprise sent me the bill and is arguing with me via email that signing an agreement for one price automatically means I signed an agreement for a new price. Then they tried to lie and say I was given the correct price verbally.

I also had to complain about turnpike fees, i took toll roads the entire 31 days and paid cash every single tried, they tried to bill me anyway (it was refunded).

Unsafe cars and shady charge practices here! Avoid it at all costs!

A sleek Hyundai Sonata for a day!

Just rented a car from my Wisconsin Rapids Enterprise. Totaled my car in an accident and needed a car for a few days. The lady was very friendly and super helpful. Turned out I found a different car to purchase quickly and returned the rental after weekend, seeing they were closed on Saturday as well as Sunday.
Everything went great, and again, very helpful!

*I booked a Luton drop tail gate £395.97 Enterprise Rainham Kent, theyphoned on the day of collection and said they only had an extra large van cost £237.60 difference in cost £158.37. After numerous calls and visits they would only refund £50. Not exceptable very poor customer service. Taking it to small claims on principle.

Very disappointing experience

Very disappointing experience. The service is extremely expensive for what it offers, and the final cost ended up being much higher than expected due to hidden fees and extra charges that were not clearly disclosed upfront. On top of that, there were very few vehicles available in my area, making the service impractical and unreliable. I originally hoped this would be a useful alternative for future car rentals, but based on my experience, I will not be using this service again and cannot recommend it.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car - Ottawa - bottom of the barrel

On Monday, May 25, a deer hit our car near Ottawa and totaled it. An incredible tow truck driver drove us to the Palladium Enterprise Rent-A-Car location in Kanata to get a replacement car.
There we were flatly told there were no cars available. There was no empathy to our situation and no offer was made to find an available vehicle in the system. We were given a scrap of paper with with the phone number of another location on Robertson Road, then left to fend for ourselves. We called the number, the line was busy, so the tow truck driver drove us up to that location. There, we explained our predicament and were told that there weren't any vehicles available unless they had been reserved. Staff then proceeded to close up for the day as it was close to 4 pm, their closing time. The tow truck driver phoned one of his employees who drove us 110 km. home. And the story continues. The next morning, I called the Pembroke Enterprise Rent-A-Car to book a vehicle and was told there wouldn't be one available until 4 days later (Friday) In all my experiences with businesses of all sorts, this one is the bottom of the list. The employees are jaded, callous and take no care or empathy for those who may need it. A total review and restructure of this business is suggested.

Hate that even have to give them one star. This complain need to be shut down immediately. Their deposit fees are way too high and even when you RESERVE a damn car they never have it when it’s time to pick it up. All the Little Rock, Arkansas locations are like this. Every experience I’ve had with them has been horrible. Definitely don’t recommend getting a car through them

My car was stolen and my insurance…

My car was stolen and my insurance company organised a rental through Enterprise Naas, as it is my nearest dealership. I got the email confirmation and when I arrived to pick up my car, they said they had transferred the booking to Kilkenny (an hour away from me). My friend who had driven up from Kilkenny to bring me out (as again, my car had been stolen) said okay, she will drive me back down to kilkenny, then after the employee made another phonecall suddenly there was no car in Kilkenny or Portlaoise. (I'm not sure where my booking went). Frustrated and already dealing with the trauma of being a victim of crime, they ensured me they would sort it out, ring me later and arrange a car for the next morning. It is 24 hours later and I have heard nothing. This level of incompetence and disregard for customers is shocking.

AFTER 50 YEARS, I FINALLY HAD A POSITIVE RENT-A-CAR EXPERIENCE!

I have rented automobiles frequently throughout my 73-year life, generally finding it to be a miserable experience. However, that was clearly not the case on June 2, 2026 when I picked up a car from the Coral Ridge Drive Enterprise Rent-A-Car branch in Coral Springs, FL.

Fate Walls, a branch manager, personally picked me up only minutes after receiving the call. She quickly informed me my car was already waiting and completely washed, then personally took care of all the business details expediently at the branch and took me to the vehicle -- a beautiful SUV. She patiently answered all my technical questions, for which there were many, as I tend to struggle understanding new technology.

Fate was extremely warm, understanding, and knowledgeable -- a class professional. I rented my first car in 1976 -- 50 years ago -- and never had anywhere close to this type of pleasant, competent experience. Kudos to Fate and the entire branch staff.

They have not heard the last from me.

They have not heard the last from me.
Book a vehicle online, payment taken and booking confirmation emailed to me. Then they call to say no car available to give me.

I then ask how long the refund will take to which I was told 5-7 working days. THEN I go to another Company locally who knew what I was going to say and fed back that they get at least 5 customers a week saying similar to myself!!!

Trading standards beckon!!

Very unhappy with the service at Enterprise in Forest City, North Carolina

I am very unhappy with the service at Enterprise in Forest City, NC. I reserved a vehicle for pickup at 9:30 am on May 29th and had a confirmation number. When I arrived at the location, I was told there were no available vehicles, and it was implied that it was my fault because they had tried to call at 7:20 in the morning. (I work late at night). I would not be sending this email if they had been willing to check at a few other locations to help us find an available vehicle, but they offered no help whatsoever. I was renting the car to go to a graduation/birthday dinner my friends were hosting. Because of their horrible service, I had to let the host know that I was missing my own graduation celebration! The company can improve by tracking the number of cars available and preventing customers from reserving an unavailable car.

Not what I've come to expect from Enterprise

I’ve used Enterprise almost exclusively throughout my life because the process has always been straightforward and the rates have fit my budget. Unfortunately, my most recent experience at the Portland, Oregon – Gateway location left me disappointed and questioning that loyalty.

I had booked a mid‑size car three weeks in advance for a one‑way trip through four states. A few days before my pickup date, I stopped by the Gateway office to ask a simple question: whether I could add two hours to my drop‑off time so I could check in at my destination before returning the car. The manager — someone I recognized from previous rentals — told me that any additional hours would require paying for a full extra day, quoting me over $100. I declined.

Three days later, when I arrived to pick up the car (this time with my boyfriend present), I asked the same question again. The same manager suddenly told me it was “no problem” and that I could simply pay by the hour.

The inconsistency was frustrating. As a long‑time customer, I expect clear, honest, and consistent information — especially from management. Being told two completely different things by the same person within days made the experience feel unreliable and unnecessarily stressful.

I still appreciate Enterprise overall, but this particular interaction at the Gateway location was disappointing and not reflective of the service I’ve come to expect.
