Absolutely disappointed.

I was misled into what was clearly communicated to me as a yearly subscription. Instead, I was billed on a monthly basis — a huge difference from what I agreed to. When I reached out to customer service and explained the issue — including the fact that the sales agent assured me it would be an annual charge — they simply refused to issue a refund for the months wrongly billed.

No responsibility. No empathy. Just copy-paste replies.

This is not just poor service — it’s deceptive. It feels like a trap: lure you in with misleading claims, then charge you monthly and refuse to refund when caught.

Avoid this company at all costs. If this is how they treat their paying customers, I can’t imagine how bad it gets when something truly serious goes wrong.

I contacted the company EF English Live to enroll in an English course. The program offered included 16 levels and required an initial placement test. I was informed that there was a 7-day trial period, along with a 2-month money-back guarantee.

After I accepted the offer, I was sent a payment link and completed the transaction. However, shortly after beginning the course, I decided to cancel it as it did not meet my expectations. When I requested cancellation, I was told that the 7-day trial period had expired, and that the 2-month refund was subject to specific conditions that had not been clearly explained to me beforehand.

I was then informed that in order to cancel the course, I would be required to pay 30% of the total course cost as a cancellation fee. EF claimed that this was outlined in the terms and conditions, even though it was never explicitly mentioned or explained during the sales process.

I believe this constitutes misleading advertising, as the company omits critical information about minimum commitment, cancellation penalties, and the existence of a long-term financial obligation. At no point was I informed of a binding payment contract or any financial penalty for canceling.

EF English Live promotes its course as a flexible, risk-free learning plan, while in reality they enforce hidden clauses that financially harm the consumer once the payment has been made.

I contacted the technical support team via the website and through several e-mails, but the problem remains unresolved.

I keep getting generic replies, and no actual solution has been provided. As a scholarship student, this course was an important opportunity for my development, and I’ve now lost nearly a month without access.

I hope EF English Live takes this situation seriously and improves the quality of support for its students.
