Lovely family-owned hotel
What a lovely family-owned hotel. Friendly staff, lovely rooms, a joy to visit. I used to stay here for work; now it's for pleasure.

DO NOT STAY HERE. If you enter a room and notice an overwhelmingly strong smell of Pine-Sol, consider it a major red flag! This hotel is a serious health hazard.
On 08/22/2026 around 1:00 AM, I woke up to my room (#106) completely flooded. Raw sewage and human waste were literally erupting from the shower drain, causing an unbearable stench. When I rushed outside, two staff members were cleaning the adjacent room. I told them my room was flooded too, and they casually replied, "Oh, your room too?!" They ALREADY knew about the sewage backup but left us sleeping in filth.
Based on how nonchalant and calm the front desk staff acted when the disaster occurred, it is highly obvious that this was not the first time they have dealt with this severe issue. They are fully accustomed to masking these hazards.
Despite this disgusting biohazard crisis, the front desk stubbornly refused to bring us a new room key, forcing us to walk back and forth through the filthy, contaminated hallway just to fetch the key ourselves. The entire floor, the carts, the staff, and ALL THE ELEVATORS we had to use were a complete biohazard zone.
Worse yet, absolutely NO biohazard or quarantine protocols were followed the next morning. All the elevators, hallways, and the main lobby were completely open to public use. The exact paths, contaminated staff, and laundry carts that were covered in raw sewage the night before were mixing with unsuspecting hotel guests. No areas were blocked off for professional disinfection.
To make matters worse, the AC in the new room (#209) was completely broken, and on our third night, the electronic keys failed again, locking us out for a long time.
The Empire Hotel is a decaying, dangerous dump hiding behind a flashy lobby. I have already officially reported them to the New York Authorities (DOHMH & The attorney general ). Stay anywhere else!
When I arrived back at hotel at 12.30am, carpark closed and I was asked to repark my car 2 times by guard with incomplete details when enquired. No announcement was given by property and no management staff attend to the guests waiting at outdoor carpark.
At 1am aircon in the room we checked in was malfunction so we were asked to change room. At 4am , the electricity was cut off and only came back at 5am.
Our stayed had been unpleasant and not enough rest.nit was made worst when there is no respond when I tried to reach out to the property through WhatsApp, message via Agoda and general line.
Please contact me for resolution because this is not acceptable especially the customer service.
Just come back from an overnight stay with the grandchildren, this hotel is spotless, the bedding towels and robes smelt very fresh and clean, the room was lovely along with the food and staff, big thank you to everyone.
Fantastic hotel made special by the staff. You feel like one of the family there. Faultless
We spent just one night here on Monday 23rd September. The lovely warm culture drew us in and was very relaxing. It is quite traditional in style including the restaurant and was perfect. I have a restricted diet and they were exceptionally considerate in helping me.
