Results took 5 weeks longer than promised. They claim my shelter dog is 100% standard poodle. She has wavy (not curly) hair and weighs about 25lbs, not a standard poodle (I believe the shelter was c... See more

Marketing scam. Results don't fit. They'll try to impress you with scientific jargon. Please spend your money on dogs instead of these scammers!!!
This company is a scam. Purchased a DNA kit, followed the instructions and shipped. A month later and still no results. I contact support and they re send a swab. Swab shows up 2 weeks later with no return label or envelope. I contact support for a shipping label and they say it's not on them to pay shipping even though they lost my test. Customer service is extremely rude and useless. Shop elsewhere.
This company is a scam. My 10+ year old pup who *clearly* has Catahoula Leopard in him (many, many leopard spots and large blue fleck in one eye) came back as 100% pit bull 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 They just now kicker me off their Facebook page for voicing my opinion. DO NOT give them your money!!!!
It has been over 2 months and still no results. This was a Christmas gift and completely ruined the idea as I know he would have loved it. Embark took the phone number down to contact the company and the only way is by chat or email and nobody has answers each time (over 10 times contacting them). I would not recommend or use this company again.
Do not use this company. I wait for over a month for my results. I could never get anyone on the phone even after calling over 100 times. Finally got someone on email just for them to take days to tell me they never received my kit back. Do not waste your money on this company. There are many other companies that actually care about their customers and that have reliable customer service. I would have given 0 stars if possible. Worst customer service EVER
Very expensive, and the delivery takes MUCH longer than is written on their website (especially for Europe you should plan 3 to 4 months minimum for the whole process); the information is extremely vague despite being presented as the most accurate DNA test on the market, some info is inaccurate (traits, physical appearance, weight, age) or even totally wrong (health issues that were brought up have nothing to do with his breed) ; the customer service is very slow;
It's a scam, I know the parent dogs and one is 100% purebred. His breed wasnt even listed. No matter how much you complain they wont give you a refund. They will argue with you and try to convince you they're right. Don't waste your money.
Results were not correct for both an age test and a breed test! Those tests were expensive! I said I wanted a refund and to talk to a manager and they responded basically saying the results were scientifically sound (which because of other information I had, I know they were NOT) and said they could not give me a refund. Couldn’t even talk to a manager! Horrible customer service!!
Purchased an age DNA test - results were ridiculous! We have extensive experience with our breed (10+ dogs) and the age test came back with almost 14 years old! The breed for a male never lives past 10. Challenged their results but just got canned responses claiming they were witjhin range. Obviously they haven't done a suffcient sample size across breeds, male/female, different ages, etc. Don't waste your moneyM!
I’ve only just started on this journey. But I expect it’s not going to go well.
Yes, my bad I know but being as I’m in Australia I’d have thought the price would be in Australian dollars not USA dollars.
So hence it’s now cost around $100 more than an Orivet test. Rip off.
I wished I’d checked these reviews first.
I’d have not bothered.
I am so disappointed in this whole experience. I Placed my order on 11/11/22 for the DNA + Health kit directly through Embark's website. I got my kit on 11/14/22, and it said that it was already expired and must be used before 9/1/22. I immediately reached out to customer service via email to make them aware of this and to get a new kit. I was shrugged off like it was no big deal. Embark said it was an issue they were aware of, but never do they say anything about it on their website nor in the confirmation email. $140+ is a lot of money to spend on an already expired product. They need to be more transparent up front about the packaging if they know that this is an issue on their current box. I was never explained that the date on the OUTSIDE of the box is different than the one on the swab INSIDE the box. I only found that out when I made a reddit post and another user explained it in detail to me. If this was fully explained, I probably would've never demanded a refund. And I probably wouldn't have chosen to go with another company. But due to the lack of transparency, the lack of care or concern, and the unwillingness to send me a new kit, I do not trust this company at this point. I finally was able to get a refund for the $140 Embark kit. Will be trying Wisdom Panel instead.
Should’ve chosen 0 stars. A complete waste of $400. With our dogs, there’s no way my 90-lb dog is part Pomeranian. And my 55-lb dog is not a Rottweiler / Chow Chow when clearly he’s got border collie instincts and personality. The biggest scam ever! Do not use Embark!!
Submitted the sample after paying $110. Weeks ago called twice they haven’t processed the sample or lost it who knows. I can’t get anyone to tell me what is going on . I am very regretful for trusting this company
Absolutely horrible. Embark had 5 different dogs. All were smaller than my dog. It’s a farce!
Now I know why they want to take picture of the dogs. They guess most of the time!
I had two dogs tested. One result gave me no new information, just a known fraction of the dog and a guess at what the rest of her might be. The other result is incorrect, indicating only one breed in a dog that does not have one very unique must-have breed characteristic of the identified breed, and otherwise differs from the identified breed. I believe that since his breed is not in the database, a close-enough guess was thrown out. I will be requesting a refund for his botched results and will be sure to spread the word that no new information is likely to be obtained if you have any inkling of what your mixed breed might be. I wonder if the vet who recommended this test is getting kickbacks.
Worst company ever. For three weeks they say my results are done but a glitch in system can’t upload them really well IT can’t figure it out after 3 weeks. Won’t refund my money won’t send anything, horrible company
I contacted embark before purchasing the test to ask if it will tell me how much Timberwolf is in my wolf hybrid dog. Knowing that dogs are descended from wolves I was doubtful they could distinguish a difference (and it turned out I was right) however they assured me it would identify the percent Wolf lineage-so I bought the test. To the contrary the results referenced dogs that I know are not in the bloodline and said nothing about the amount of any wolf presence which I know for a fact this dog is a Timberwolf hybrid. They no doubt lied to get me to purchase the test. Also they have not responded whatsoever to my complaint about their results so I can not in good conscience advise anyone to trust any of their results or lying customer service personnel. Since I was lied to and see that others have made similiar reviews of this test giving actually ludicrous results I can’t consider embark anything but a charlatan organization. To begin with DNA matches are reported as a certain probability of a match which was not indicated in their results which I found very unscientific conjuring up results described as “supermutt” matches possibly being of several different breeds not present in my dog.
I ordered the Breeders kit. In the pic, it shows 5 swabs. Nowhere in the description does it say you only receive 1 swab. When I received my kit and it had only 1 swab, I was shocked. I called and I have sent emails. Noone has responded. I have sent several more emails over the last 2 weeks and still no response. This is false advertising at its finest. I haven't activated the 1 swab I did receive. They should have to send me 4 more since the pic shows 5. I cannot recommend this company!!
