Sadly, I paid to use ElevenLabs and have been extremely disappointed. I've spent the past week in email conversations with them and the truth is that there is no integrity or accountability there.
After spending $99 to create an audiobook and doing everything as instructed by their support staff, their program just did NOT deliver. The volume changed dramatically throughout the paragraphs, making it necessary to redo sentence after sentence, paragraph after paragraph. Even after "locking" in what was finished, I would go back and double-check just before trying to publish and find that the speed of the voice had changed yet again, the volume was again varying, and spacing between paragraphs had disappeared. I cannot tell you how many hours I worked on this -
In the end, my publisher didn't accept the recording, saying there was floor noise, and in about the 8th email with the staff, I was told that it was because my initial recording to them had background noise. It didn't. And throughout the days of the work, they had never once had a problem with my recording or stated that I needed to redo it. Suddenly, when I'm asking for a refund for the money I had spent, it was my fault that their system didn't deliver. (The first 7 emails claimed that because I had used credits, I wasn't eligible for a refund. The fact is that the credits were used because I had to keep redoing the same work over and over because of their faulty system.
I assured them that due to their lack of integrity and taking care of customers who trusted their program, I would report and hopefully save others from losing money and time. Don't pay the money - you'll not get the finished product, and you won't get your money back

They helped me resolve my issue. They were super nice while we were on communication.

3+ years with no meaningful update to the Pro Voice Cloning feature. The only real product this company ever had. My PVC still spits out sentences without any consistency over more than 20 seconds. The tone, the pacing, the intonation is all over the place all the time. The settings don't change the behaviour of the clone predictably, but feel like a randomization setting more than anything else. You need to manually edit everything out of the generations all the time, for 10 min of audio it's a 2/3 hours job. This is just nonsense, in 2026 the we have more than enough tech for a model to spit out your speech 99% correct at the first try. Indeed, the resources are not missing here, they are bringing forth the most AI slop features I've seen in a while. If you wanna take lesson on how to waste a great company, and make it fail, take a look at these guys. They are absolutely top notch at it.

1. They don't move your left over tokens from the month before when you renew your subscription, so I've lost about 40000 tokens because of this and that's no small number. This is pure theft as I paid for it and they simply remove it from my account.

2. I am using ElevenLabs to create an audiobook and their v3 audio AI is not doing a good job. The voice goes up and down in quality between paragraphs, sometimes sounding like the voice/narrator is in a box and then in the next paragraph, full quality, which of course makes the book sound really bad.

3. When I am about to run out of tokens, they try and sell me higher subscriptions and they think the Scale ($299/m) and Buisness ($990/m) are the right offering??? I am on Creator, paying $20 per month, what makes them think I am interested in more than 10x more expensive or for that matter, insanity of paying $990/m??? How about offering maybe Pro for $99 and then maybe pay as you go or something?

4. It can get very complicated to use Elevenlabs and that can get very frustrating fast, so it's a bit of a steep learning curve with them.

Would I recommend Elvenlabs? No, no I would not. They are thieves to begin with, they will steal your tokens if you don't complete them. There can be a steep learning curve and they are quite expensive for the quality and the amount of tokens you get for the subscription prices. I would recommend using something else. There are Chinese models that are as good, if not better and cost allot less.

You guys are the best! I don't see any other platform that is better then ElevenLabs when It comes to Voice/VoiceAgents.

Truly awful experience. Couldn't try out the free tier option as my account was flagged for "unusual activity " - no matter what device or network I used, even mobile, the result was the same.

Customer service is an AI bot passed off as a real person called "Sam". The very tiny writing underneath says it AI responding.

Good luck getting any help from the bot. They just want you to upgrade, but i said i wanted to trial it first. Still insisted on upgrading. Asked to speak to a human, answer was no, they can't do anymore than I can (AI bot)

I replied you were made by a human, it still spouted off about upgrading.

I've deleted my account without even trying it. If you don't want to offer free tier, then just remove it.

Looking at the other reviews and no response from ElevenLabs, I've done the right thing :)

the token usage is too high, I barely even can generate a few video, I was not satisfied with the results so I ended up losing half of my tokens in just a few prompts. I asked for refund and you can't spend tokens to have a refund. Such a bad refund policy

I had a small billing issue after changing my subscription plan, and the customer support team (especially Selma) resolved it quickly and professionally. ElevenLabs is an amazing, high-value tool for content creators, and their support is truly top-tier. Highly recommended!

Extremely disappointed with ElevenLabs' new video creator. I paid triple the price of a better alternative expecting high quality, but the generated avatar skipped and the lip-syncing was completely off.

I wasted about 1,500 credits on a few initial tries, and a massive 214,000 credits on a final generation that was so bad I couldn't even use it. Worse yet, their customer service is entirely useless—they completely ignored my refund request. I’ve since canceled my subscription. Save your money and look elsewhere.

Unreliable money-hungry scam company. I am not a creator. I wanted to use simultaneous interpretation, but later it turned out that it is actually for video creators, not consumers. I asked for a refund, which was $10. I received all kinds of emails that serve the purpose of misleading and annoying the customer. These are emails written by AI. I was aware that this would be a one-time payment, and I did not know that the system treated me as a subscriber. I was completely surprised that a month later they deducted $26 again. I wrote to them again, asked for a refund, and only new AI emails came. Based on the emails, they act as if I was no longer dealing with the refund request, they are slowly and quietly stepping down without dealing with the customer. The worst thing is that GOOGLE GEMINI AI recommended them as a trustworthy, fair professional company. I have $36 with them now but if they need that then this could be a pretty weak company. I would not recommend anyone to use this company for anything. It's not the loss of $36 that hurts so much, it's the company's behavior from a human perspective.

The voice quality from ElevenLabs is genuinely impressive. I produced a complete nonfiction audiobook using a male voice, and the narration sounded natural, confident, and substantially better than several other AI voice platforms I’ve tested.

However, creating the narration was only part of the job. The exported files still required extensive editing in Audacity before they were ready for professional distribution. I had to adjust the opening and ending silence on every chapter, normalize RMS loudness, correct the mono loudness settings, apply limiting to control peak levels, verify every exported file, and clean up embedded metadata. I also had to create the opener, closer, and retail preview separately.

For a platform that promotes audiobook production and direct publishing, it really needs a true audiobook-mastering export preset that automatically meets common distributor requirements. Users should be able to set target RMS, peak ceiling, beginning and ending silence, bitrate, channel format, and chapter metadata once, then apply those settings consistently across the entire book.

I’m happy with the final audiobook, and I’ll likely use ElevenLabs again because the voices are among the best I’ve heard. But authors should understand that this is not yet a simple generate-and-publish system. ElevenLabs generated an excellent narration. I still had to do a considerable amount of work to turn it into a professionally mastered audiobook.

Elevenlabs It's the greatest resource for people who can't speak. I found this site and app fantastic. The voice cloning is impressive. For professional results you need the Pro plan, which is definitely useful for non-verbal people like me. It's true that it's expensive, but it's also true that if you have certain characteristics it's feasible. The people behind the project are human and are also human in trying to meet the needs of the person. I understand that it can be expensive, but I also believe it is right that in this way solutions can be offered, as happened to me. Their special program for people who have lost the ability to speak lasts 5 years. I can't believe I can communicate again. I can also make voice recordings for WhatsApp. People are amazed at the similarity to my voice. Also, if the tone isn't right, there are 5 free regenerations where the tone of the sentence changes, always remaining faithful to the original. You can adjust the speed, the tone. I didn't use the other features because I was only interested in this one. The only flaw: the sentences produced can be saved and renamed, but they cannot be separated into separate folders, so for example you cannot create a folder for "hospital", "greetings", etc. I'm satisfied and grateful for this invention and opportunity. Thank you.

As an enterprise customer, my experience has been frustrating and has eroded my trust in this company. They constantly push you to upgrade tiers, but you're given no clear visibility into your credit usage to justify why. In my case, usage sat around 90% with overage charges, and after upgrading to the next tier it dropped to about 30%, nowhere near capacity. Worse, if you downgrade, you lose your remaining credits entirely. It feels like a pricing structure designed to trap customers rather than serve them.

On top of that, ElevenLabs is now building products that compete directly with its own customers. As someone with a product built on their platform, and all of my call data sitting with them, it's deeply uncomfortable to watch them move into my market while collecting my money.

Support has also been underwhelming for an enterprise relationship. We are actively looking for ways to migrate off the platform. I'd caution any business considering building on ElevenLabs to think hard about the pricing opacity and the risk of your platform provider becoming your competitor.

the credits are very expensive and the eleven labs v3 sounds cannot create a longer video bcz the voices wouldnt match

it's so frustrating because the voices are just garbage, and with every new model it gets worse, you have one job, jesus

Quick and reliable customer service

ElevenLabs continues to prove to me their excellent tool, features and customer service. I have been a customer for three years and use the platform for a lot of work. When I had issues with a new tool, I requested a refund of credits and very quickly I got the response and solution needed.
