Extremely backward

Extremely backward. Okay they offer one of the few (only?) 'proper' current accounts with no fees and I don't live in the ROI so it suits me for the amount I use it, but everything is outrageously backward.

I've moved house, have to change address with 20+ organisations, EBS is by far the most difficult, I need to visit the branch - I don't live in the ROI and would usually only be there at weekends or holidays - alternatively I can print out a form, fill it in, scan it, email it, send it, they'll send it to the branch I opened the account with who will review it. When I eventually found what looks like the right form it says I need to send copies of my ID signed by a cop or solicitor...my gawd. If this is supposed to be in the name of security it's backfiring, they will be sending confidential correspondence to me at an address I don't live at and have no link to.

I have several other bank accounts...in all other cases changing address takes two ticks and can be done online.

I just called one of EBS' branches near my hometown to see if they could offer any advice, I got a recording saying that due to COVID 19 (it's 2026!!!) they are open from 10-4 Monday to Friday, I called at 11:30 on a Tuesday and nobody answered. A shambles of a company!

had an excellent experience working…

had an excellent experience working with Fergus and Lesley in EBS Tallaght. This is the second time I have organised my mortgage through them and they were always extremely helpful throughout the entire process of organising my mortgage, taking the time to explain everything clearly and making the process feel straightforward and stress-free. They consistently responded to my questions promptly and worked hard to find us the best options available. Their professionalism, knowledge, and dedication made a huge difference, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for mortgage advice.

Waiting a month for a 9k error to be corrected

I cleared my mortgage, they then took the next two payments (9k). Accepted this was an error and still waiting for the refund. Appalling interactions. Would have been corrected same day. Constantly told it will be fixed then just not. Never use this bank.

Terrible

The absolute worst banking app I have ever used. Keeps timing out, won't let you cofirm, layout on certain Samsung phone does not display the confirm button, have to wait for a 6 digit code, which then doesn't work. So frustrating. Got so fed up with it, I walked to the bramch but they had one teller and a queue of people and 2 people in the background doing nothing who didnt hop onto a till to help. Useless.

Ebs tallaght

I have been dealing with Fergus and his team for my current mortgage as well as previous mortgage.
They are most friendly and personal people that I have ever dealt with in banking.
My mortgage was approved within three days and when I found the house the rest of it was your approved in three days.
I rang on the Friday to get evaluation for the property and I had the valuation back on Friday afternoon.
Even the agent Bob who was dealing with my life insurance is so friendly and kind.
I just can't get over the way that they treat people like they are important whereas the other banks treat people like they just a number.
I have not drawn down on the second mortgage as yet however I know there are not going to be any hassles because everything is over the line already.
Thank you so much and making a difficult process as simple and easy as possible with your team specifying Fergus Bob and Yasmine.

Careful with Cash Lodgements

I had a deeply frustrating experience with a recent cash lodgement at EBS Clontarf. The teller was required to take the cash away from the counter for machine counting, out of my view. This private counting resulted in a €100 shortage on my deposit. I believe the bank's policy of conducting the final, binding count out of the customer's sight is a flawed procedure that leads to serious errors and undermines customer trust. The response when I raised the issue was also very poor.

We had a great experience with EBS in the Parkway branch limerick. Padraig was a real pleasure to deal with throughout the process. He made it clear and simple throughout the whole process and we only dealt with him directly. I would highly recommend the guys in the Parkway branch for anyone going with a First time mortgage.

EBS mortgage avoid them at all costs

If you thinking of using EBS to get a mortgage let me save you the time and hassle and avoid them at all costs - they clam to great with helping you get a mortgage etc but lets just say they just suck the life out of you and make the entire prosses wishing you never set foot in an EBS bank branch in the first place.
A total nightmare from the very start and constant delays were someone on a power trip in an office made it total hell.

Inefficient and outdated service

Tried contacting them to get my Authenticator App working on new phone. Had to hold for 15 minutes before call was answered. Then the amount of security questions I had to answer was beyond anything reasonable. Was another ten minutes simply giving my answers. The new code won't arrive for between 3 and 5 working days. Extremely poor and outdated customer service. The whole phone call lasted 25 mins.

I spent at least 50 mins trying to get through to customer service/ internet support. The machine keeps apologising and saying ‘anytime now’.
I have no online banking now. Extremely frustrating.
Tried 3 numbers and all the same.

Terrible customer service

Terrible customer service. Bad training or bad staff. Outdated procedures waste my time. Need to make an appointment to do simple things like an existing customer opening a savings account.

I went to the counter at EBS Blanchardstown with all my IDs and proof of address to open a savings account. The bank was empty but I was told I had to make an appointment and come back 3 days later to open the account. I came back at the time of my appointment where the same member of staff opened the account in 5 minutes,
This was an enormous waste of my time especially as an existing customer.

EBS make dreams come true!

EBS are the best bank in Ireland with regard to mortgages hands down. Most negative reviews are from people who have not or are unwilling to deal with a human. How can you expect a great service with some sort of rapport? EBS have given me an exceptional service every single time. Don’t believe people who are not willing to go and sit with a human. Fortunately we are far away from all automation as a society. Go and meet your local branch manager before writing nonsense!

Updated Experience [bad].

Updated Experience: Pathetic.
I tried to log in yesterday and kept getting "server error".

The internet application is useless, so I assumed it was playing up again, but oddly enough my PC login would not work either.

I phoned for help. it was refused. Even generic solutions like try reloading the application were not allowed it seems.

The reason to decline help was after giving them my personal details, card details and all the other bits of information, I simply could not recollect my last purchase on the account.

I would have to go to the village three miles away, make a purchase and tell them in order to get help.

When I pointed out how stupid and ridiculous it was to use a debit with a contactless feature to validate security, the logic seemed totally beyond them.

I can only assume that the lack of help and the poor and erratic operation of their smartphone application is a deliberate ploy to get rid of customers.

Fortunately this is not my only account, in fact the reason I don't use it more frequently is the almost useless smartphone application anyway.

This bank lacks the absolute basics

Over and over again this bank disappoints. It is not user friendly. No online app. I tried to take money out via bank transfer and got told the bank doesn't do that - they could only give me a check or cash. To open a savings account you have to go in person. I had all the documents ready as per the website and when I arrived the staff scoffed at me and said I need an appointment to open a savings account; but then they couldn't offer me an appointment between 12 and 1 ever, which is the only time I can be free between the hours of 10 and 4 Monday to Friday. Also you cannot find information online such as the minimal online transfer amount (which I think now is 2000)
