Unclear about insurance cover and costs, customer service unavailable. Do not book here!

Straight forward car rental platform with zero liability options

Poor customers service, barely speaks English and all they say "Not possible" without explaining why. The car rental refused to provide me with the car, and the DoYouItaly refused to modify or cancel the booking, still charging the credit card. Very frustrating, will have to resolve the dispute via credit card company.

I have been using Do You Italy for the last 7 years. Dead easy to book a car and unbeatable prices. You can’t get wrong.

Online Booking and receiving the confirmation number was easy and quick. This was my first time using this website, so I’m really hoping the pickup experience is just as smooth and reliable. Thanks

That's a big scam .. I rent a car for 10 days and my flight it was late and I call them and they say if I late 16 minutes to pick car it's gone and I have rent another car and money from previous car their will not return, don't ever rent from them you will not get your car they will find 1000 of excuse not to give car and you'll lose money..

Certainly. Here’s a stronger, concise version that includes that important detail:
Absolutely terrible experience.
I was told I could cancel my reservation before 3:00 PM. I started calling before the deadline and have call records to prove it. The problem? The phone numbers I was given were incorrect, so I wasted valuable time trying to reach someone.
When I finally got through using the only working number, it was 3:01 PM. They ignored the fact that I had been trying to call on time and charged me $600, plus another $70 with no clear explanation.
What makes this even worse is that important rental requirements were only shown after I had already paid. For example, I only discovered afterward that I needed to present a physical international driver’s permit, not a digital version. Information like this should be clearly disclosed before payment so customers can decide whether they are actually eligible to rent the car. Hiding these requirements until after payment is completely unfair.
They promised to review my case and contact me by Monday. It is now Thursday, and I have received absolutely nothing—no email, no phone call, no update.
This is the second time this has happened to me—first in Spain, now in Italy. At this point, it feels less like a mistake and more like a business practice.
Avoid this company. Terrible customer service, hidden requirements, unfair charges, and zero accountability. I will never rent from them again.
If you’re posting this on Google Reviews or Trustpilot, this version is forceful while staying focused on your specific experience, which generally makes it more credible and less likely to be removed.

Booking site was extremely easy to use, information was easy to find and understand. The information provided suggestions that had not occurred to me, so I found it quite informative for novice international travellers. Great prices and lots of options. Specials vary frequently and I am extremely pleased with the pick up location near the train station rather than the airport.

The name stated on the card should be full first name and full last name.
So just the A. Jansen if your name is Anny Jansen would not be sufficient.
This is a big scam.
Don't use this company. Just rent a car at the airport!

In the UK, the terms credit card and debit card are frequently used interhchangeably. This car hire company (I think deliberately) refuses debit cards. I don't have credit cards and because that couldn't give them 'bank confirmation' (yes, really, they can't get confirmation from a bank debit card.....[sarcastic voice]), my charge went from Euro130 to Euro520 in one fell swoop. Yes that's right - E 520. With no other options available, you have no choice but to accept. I have not taken the car back yet but I am 100% sure they will find a reason to keep my Euro250 deposit and probably charge me for some non-existent damage.

I've usesd DoYouItaly before. Never had any problems.
I want to collect at the actual airport, which is not often clear when one first looks, as it says airport, when it is actually away from the airport and one is conveyed to and from the car hire location. Since I have an early drop off of 08.00 / early departure flight of 10.25, I want to be at the airport early. I had to search in the filters to find AIRPORT pickup/dropoff. It is good value for money. I use a UK company 'Questor' for annual Excess Insurance cover (about £55.) to avoid the high super casco insurance cover.
