Best car rental experience ever!

I loved my experience with Dooley. Seamless and so friendly! The staff at the lot was really helpful, and very reassuring when I was so nervous to drive on the other side of the car and road in a country I've never been to! Next time (in about 6 months) I'll be back and I'm not the least bit worried about driving. I'll be renting from Dooley!!

Fantastic customer service and no hidden costs

We had a fantastic experience hiring a car from Dan Dooley at Cork airport. There were no hidden costs as there are with all other hire companies I have dealt with and the customer service from the staff at the desk was nothing short of outstanding; it was the warmest welcome to Ireland that we could have asked for. Very impressed - I would recommend to friends and will use them wherever possible in future.

Dan Dooley interested in Profit above Service

Using Expedia to arrange Car rental for my wife who was traveling to Kerry Airport the best deal led us to the Dan Dooley counter.
My wife picked up her rental car to find the tank was not full. 3/4 full, small print always suggests to bring the car back full.
Dan gets the value of 1/4 of tank in his back pocket.
We arranged our own insurance as the Super CDW at €25 a day does not cover damage to Tyres, loss of Keys and a few other listed in the small print. Top tip arrange your own CDW it saved us €300 on this trip.

When we returned the car I mentioned the fuel tank was not full however we gave the car back full? No credit was given by the lady at the counter. When I gave her feedback about how car rental companies make extra money on fuel by not filling tanks and CDW insurance which is not so super I was asked to leave the car rental office??? She declared she getting too old to be listening to people belly aching!
I did leave the office and am fully committed to never use this company ever again. I am also committed to telling anyone that is interested to avoid using this firm until they realise the importance of the customer?
Best advice for car rentals.
Arrange your own Super CDW £35 a year fully comprehensive instead of €25 a day.
Sat nav you can buy them locally for £40 instead of €10 a day.
Always check the fuel!! All rental companies do the 3/4 tank trick.
Always take photos and check conditions of tyres and ensure the damage listed is accurate.
Allways give feed back ..... dont be bullied by the service desk.
And always confirm the car you hired or similar is similar, rental company will do everything to put profit before service.
Hopefully Dan will improve the service.

AVOID DOOLEY's - the try to rip you off

I had a reservation via carrentals.com stipulating a rental fee of USD 63 and a total cost of USD 101 including taxes.

The Dooley's clerk then started his “sales pitch” and this went as follows:
The USD 63 rental fee he converted into EUR 81, because he claimed the exchange rate given by Dooley’s would suggest the Dollar being more expensive than the Euro. When I showed him the Google exchange rate suggesting the USD 63 would become around EUR 52, he insisted his exchange rate calculation being correct – which it was obviously not.
Then he started building an argument that if I do not take any insurance as suggested by my reservation, that he has to charge me a EUR 25 no-insurance penalty. Also he claimed this would be common practice by DUB car rental companies. Actually I travel to Ireland 2-5 times a year for many years already, and this is the first time such new no-insurance penalty is coming up. Just past May I took a car with SIXT and there was no such fee either.
Last but not least he calculated about EUR 40 in taxes.
Overall the package then would have cost me around 80% more than the reservation suggested.

Well I guess this is not treating every customer as a VIP as Dooley's claim at the entry of their DUB office.

In the end I took out another reservation for also a mid-sized car for the same amount of days, via rentalcars.com. I now pay EUR 81 in total with EUROPCAR and certainly no no-insurance penalty was charged to me. And the EUROPCAR clerk at the desk was polite and expeditious.

Lesson learnt: AVOID DOOLEY's

Very nice staff and efficient at the …

Very nice staff and efficient at the airport. hire agreement complete within 10 minutes. It was a further 30 minutes before the shuttle bus arrived to bring me to the car and it set down for 8mins to wait for other people. Got to the car pick point and I'd to point out the car as the staff didn't know where it was.

Tired I set off, 20 miles away I noticed the car wasn't the one I hired. No air-conditioning!!!!!

Worst pickup ever!!!

I must have hired dozens of cars over the years, but this was head and shoulders the worst ever. Never again will I use this company. Flew in to Dublin, flight spot on time and landed at 0910, got to the Dooley desk at 0930, well.. To the queue anyway. Not a large queue, only 4 people in front of me, 'Great' I thought, that's not too bad, shouldn't take long. 1020 I finally got to the desk, nearly an hour to serve 3 cars, as one of those didn't actually happen as the guy didn't realise the rules and didn't have the correct documents, so he was gone in a couple of minutes, so 50 minutes for 3 cars, appalling!!
But, sadly, it gets worse. Spent the usual 10 minutes going through the details, only to be then told they didn't have the key for my car there anyway, and I would have to trek to the other side of the airport to the Dooley desk in the other terminal to collect the key from there. That was another 10 minute walk just to fetch the key. Another huge queue at the other desk, I won't bore you with further and another trek to find the car which was filthy on the outside, looked like it hasn't been used in months, and this was a premium Mercedes.
Absolutely appalling service, never again.
