Simply the most amazing holiday I've ever had!
Every facet of the holiday was a fantastic experience.
Top class hotels. Superb guide Narendra who made our small group of 8 feel special every day by giving us an insight into every aspect of Indian history, culture and everyday life.
Value for money was exceptional.

2 week trip including 1 week on the Deccan Odyssey.
Excellent service, food and accommodation and looked after exceptionally well by the various DJ guides. The tour guides were generally excellent although some better than others.
The only minor criticism was on the first day of boarding the train when we were left at the station for a couple of hours before the train arrived and the razzmatazz commenced but in the meantime we were offered nothing and left on the platform by the DO ( not DJ) staff.

A real introduction to Japan with a fantastic mix of places to visit and experiences. The hotels were all very good, the transport excellent and the guides just great.

I, like several other passengers, expected a group size of around 25. We were 40. Had I known this I would not have travelled.
If you enjoy travelling in a group of 40, this company is for you, if not, look somewhere else.

We have just returned from a tour of Australia for Xmas and the New year which was fantastic from Booking through to the end in Bali. The tour guide Danielle was lovely, very friendly, but very efficient. Her knowledge in the different cities was amazing and she must have the patience of a saint dealing with some of the clients! All the hotels were well positioned with great facilities, and the organisation of the internal flights couldn’t have been better. Would definitely consider using Distant Journeys for any future trips.

It was excellent from start to finish. Our guide, Raj Veer Singh, and driver Mr Suresh, were fantastic. They both did everything to ensure that we had the best time. We saw everything that was on the itinerary plus a lot more. Doing it as a private tour was undoubtedly the best decision as it was a completely personal experience and I would certainly recommend Distant Journeys private tours, incredible value for money.

A wonderful experience and beautiful places visited made special by excellent guides. Mahendra, Shilpa and Sree were so knowledgeable and became great travel companions. Hotels were excellent and welcoming. I was very impressed by all the staff and organisation. Have already booked for 2026

Great well organised trip with a great guide. Flights were excellent both ways and despite it being 12 days of constant action the individual tours were always interesting and well planned. We even got to see up close a Tiger which was a bonus as so few trips even glimpse one. The Taj Mahal was also very impressive. Hotels were exceptional with large double rooms even though we were solos travellers.

Distant Journeys state they have many years experience of group holidays in India, and this was evident on my recent holiday. The attention to detail was excellent, everything was thought of, making it easy for all the group to enjoy themselves and their surroundings.
Our tour guide was excellent; approachable, full of information, and looked after us throughout. The holiday represented good value for money for what was a detailed itinerary, covering much more than the Golden Triangle. As a solo traveller, I have journeyed with several companies. This was my first Distant Journeys holiday, but based on this experience I would recommend them.

From the moment we booked this trip - Splendours of Kerala - Southern India (after a lot of research with other companies), everything was smooth sailing! Lots of information when booked and then before we went we were sent an app with had everything on it from the itinerary, to the hotels, to the flights. Queries we had prior to the trip were speedily answered. The tour itself was fantastic - just 22 of us on the trip. Our guide was great, and the coach driver and his helper amazing - I don't know how he drove those roads! The hotels we stayed in could not be faulted. We saw some wonderful sights, and the daily travelling was very manageable. We would definitely recommend and are currently looking to book our next trip to India with Distant Journeys

Much to like on our New Zealand via Singapore tour. Reasonable price, decent hotels, good included and extra trips, some great and unusual scenery, good coach drivers who also acted as guides. Trip was heading for a 4 1/2 star rating but they failed to tell us one flight had been cancelled or that, as a consequence, we'd have to pay some £250 for an additional rapid process visa. Having failed to do this they denied all responsibility and refused any compensation.
Journey through the Himilayas was simply fantastic . We visited three very different countries and our local guides were all superb . Great itinerary and locations and hotels . Highlights were the trek to Tigers nest in Bhutan, seeing the sunrise over the Himalayas in Nepal and India. We event got to fly over Everest on our flights into and out of Bhutan. So recommend this holiday . What a wonderful experience

Just returned from Golden triangle, rathambore and Goa.
Overall we had an amazing time. It was very tiring at times but appreciated most of the early mornings were needed in order to see and so everything. The sights and tours were spectacular.
I do feel however that the itinerary needs looking at, in particularly the ridiculously early flight (needing to get up at 2am) to Goa was crazy when indigo flight company had several flights that day from Jaipur to Goa. This meant technically we lost that night in the hotel and only got an inadequate breakfast box instead of breakfast in the hotel. We arrived at a stupid time in Goa and after being up most of the night were taken on a tour around a place where most things were shut as it was Sunday! This totally wasted a day we could have been sat by the hotel pool in Goa waiting for our room to be ready.
Some of the issues did tarnish the overall holiday but it could not detract from the amazing tour manager we had. His name is Ajeet (AJ). Wow what an amazing guy. His knowledge, personality, humour etc was absolutely fantastic and he looked after us all extremely well. If you’re luckily enough to get AJ as your tour manager you will be very happy.
We also met some fantastic people on our tour and they made everything even better as we all got on sooo well as a group.

Just returned from Japan with Distant Journeys Very best of Japan tour.
Distant Journeys as a company have been excellent from Day 1, from initial enquiries to fulfilling the tour the communication and organisation has been fantastic.
The tour guides used are also fantastic and of high quality regarding their Knowledge of all areas visited. Special mention for Konomi and Arch who both made the entire trip enjoyable and fun, but also professional throughout the entire trip.
Communication from the company before leaving was great. The information and planning was very organised and the addition of the Distant Journeys App was another fantastic addition and used daily.
First time using Distant Journeys and would definitely recommend.

Very Best of Japan tour in November 2025. The tour was extremely well organised and our tour manger Phil, was excellent. The local guides (Sachiko and Yuko) were good, although Yuko did tend to rush us around a little. We saw lots of interesting sights and appreciated the free time to sightsee independently. The hotels were generally of a high standard, although the beds were very hard in some places. We discovered that for a very small amount of money, we could get upgraded to rooms with softer beds, so maybe DJ could consider offering this as standard. The hotel breakfasts were comprehensive and had a good range of both Japanese and western choices. The hotel in Kyoto was a bit far out of town to walk, but the buses are cheap and easy to use from the bus stop close to the hotel, or you can use the hotel bus which has a timetable. Definitely take a mobile phone with an e-sim because it makes life so much easier in Japan, plus DJ will set up a WhatsApp group to give out important information whilst travelling around.
We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this trip or Distant Journeys as a company to travel with.

This was a great experience. The whole trip was extremely well organised with a very knowledgeable and approachable tour guide. It was also very good value for money.
I would sincerely recommend it.

From the moment we booked the holiday, Distant Journeys kept us updated with information about flights, travel tips and more. Their app was a great help, too, with guidance about what to bring, details of the tour itinerary, the hotels we would be staying at etc..
But the tour itself turned out to be a revelation. Not only did we see and do so many things, our interest was always kept high by the excellent local guides who were more than happy to give us insights into life in China, pointers of extra things to do, places to go and sights to see.
With an action-packed three week tour, everything was immaculately organised. The trains, coaches, hotels and meals out were nothing short of marvellous.
And, to top it off, everyone in the tour group got along with each other and we all said what a remarkable holiday it had been.
With so many memorable moments, it was impossible to choose just one "best thing" (except, perhaps, the tour itself?).
Definitely worth it. A remarkable journey and one that I will remember forever.
Distant Journeys are a class act that others in the holiday industry could learn a lot from.
