Very stressful and disappointing experience
I recently had Thermaskirt installed by a fitter recommended to me as one of their most experienced installers, and the experience has been extremely disappointing. The workmanship was poor, with visible gaps, misaligned joints, incorrect capping, and several areas that looked rushed and unfinished. No dust sheets were used, my carpets were left dirty, and my vacuum was blocked when the operatives attempted to clean up.
More concerningly, I was left with exposed wiring, open electrical sockets, and holes drilled through walls and skirting in two separate rooms. A ventilation cover was removed and not replaced, leaving an open hole directly to the outside of the building. None of this was disclosed to me, and no attempt was made to make good.
I raised these issues immediately and followed up with detailed written complaints to both the installer and Thermaskirt, including photographs. I have received no response from either party.
Thermaskirt product itself works okay if you want something that operates the same way as underfloor heating but without the benefits of warm floors. My issue is with their recommendation of an installer who rushed and bodged my project, and who is still on their website as a gold medal installer of their product
Although one Thermaskirt staff member (Pete Richards) has tried to help, the scale of the issues and the lack of accountability from the installer and the company have left me extremely disappointed. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this installer or the Thermaskirt service.
Thermoskirt . Discreet Heat installers. IHS
Absolutely professionally done . John and Harvey worked well together and got the job done in good time . On time , worked hard and explained everything.
Thanks 👍👍. Finish was excellent and it heats the rooms in no time. Couldn’t fault anything 10/10 fellas

I am having a terrible experience with…
I am having a terrible experience with Discrete Heat. In December 2025, I contacted them, and they provided a quote while recommending Invisible Heating Solutions to install the system. The quoted cost for only the ground floor area was £8,000. I paid £5,000 in advance.
Invisible Heating Solutions (Joshua James, Operational Director, very dishonest and unreliable) came on January 14th and 15th and completed only half of the work. The thermal skirts they installed are not functioning. Despite reaching out to them several times, they have not come to fix the issue.
I involved Andrew Howard from Discrete Heat because they recommended him, and he advised that Invisible Heating Solutions is their partner service for installing thermal skirts. I still have no heating and am currently engaged in a bank dispute over this matter.
Discrete Heat should either have its own engineer or better oversee the services it recommends. The poor service and lack of professionalism I am experiencing are unacceptable. Additionally, I am having difficulty finding an engineer to resolve their mistakes, which has caused me a lot of stress—both mentally and financially.

We are really pleased with Discrete Heat and our heated skirting boards.
I couldn't have asked for a better customer experience than I received when dealing with Discrete Heat over a 2 year period. Chris was always so patient and helpful with our plumbers and myself, answering all of our questions. Nothing was too much trouble. To add, Carl installed our skirting board heating and worked closely with our carpenter, again nothing was too much trouble and he did a great job. My wife and myself are really pleased that we made the decision to have heated skirting boards installed; the heat is dispersed more evenly around each room, making the house a more comfortable environment for us to live in. We've always had radiators prior to this, never again! Thank you Discrete Heat.

Brilliant customer service
As this was my first time using Thermo Skirt, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it worked brilliantly. I would highly recommend it.
The whole experience was made so much easier thanks to the fantastic support I received from Pete over the telephone. Pete patiently answered all my questions and was so helpful. He is a real asset to your company.

Great product, brilliant customer service.
I was one of the very first customers of DiscreteHeat almost twenty years ago now. When we extended our house in 2006 I was looking for an alternative to radiators or an underfloor heating system when I happened across this company and the product they had just brought to market, it seemed perfect for my needs. After much consideration I took a leap of faith and invested in it for my conservatory which is a run of around 30 meters in length in what is quite a cold room in winter due to the large glassed areas.
I had the system installed by my plumber who had never seen a system like it but following the fitting instructions provided he had it up and running very quickly and we were all very happy with the results.
The system provided enough heat to make the temperature comfortable in all but the very coldest winter months when we occasionally use a wall mounted electric heater to boost the temperature. The reason for this is that over time the system has become less efficient towards the end of the run due to air getting in, as it does in radiators, but unfortunately there was no way to bleed the air out without draining the system down. Another minor aesthetic issue was the rather unsightly clip on plastic strip that fitted to the bottom of the skirting which allowed for trimming to fit uneven floors or the fitting of cables behind it. A good idea but not particularly pleasing on the eye.
What you have to remember is that my system was one of the very first examples of a completely new domestic heating system and very few things are perfect first time around. I think it is fair to say that this product has been round the block more than one time by way of improvement.
Fast forward twenty years and it is quite clear that whilst the principle remains unchanged all the components of the system have undergone a great deal of development and improvement. The plastic strip is gone and the skirting face is now clean and all one piece, all the internal pipework connectors are now brass, brackets for fixing the skirting to the wall have been improved and clips to prevent any internal movement of pipework are now fitted. A simple bleed vent has been fitted to the return valve which will address the problem of air getting into the system and reducing efficiency. The fitting instructions and guides that are provided are so much better as they are now in detailed template form with exact measurements of exactly where and how things need fitting. You can go on YouTube and watch a guide for every stage of the process which is brilliant. The actual profile of the skirting has also been greatly improved.
So what brought me back to reviewing this product some twenty years on. Well, unfortunately, I had a leak from it which went unnoticed for over 24 hours which caused a fair bit of damage to my flooring. We very quickly identified that the leak was coming from the point where the plastic push connector has come slightly loose from where it enters the actual skirting, probably caused by years of very slight pressure as the system opens and closes. This cannot happen now due to the addition of the aforementioned clips that now hold the pipework firmly in place. Fortunately we were able to quickly isolate the leak by the close off valve on the thermostat.
Now I needed to know how to fix the problem. I no longer had any of the fitting instructions or any spare parts and so I decided to contact their Customer Service for some advice. Had I been told that ‘Sorry, your warranty expired years ago and we can’t really help you’ I couldn’t really have complained. What I got was the exact opposite, Mitch was incredibly helpful, he asked for photos and a video to help identify exactly how they could help me. Having provided them and as a starting point he immediately told me he would be sending me a batch of new connectors, a new return valve with a bleed function and clips for fixing the connectors in place. All of this was free of charge!
The parts arrived the next day and today I also received a phone call from Martin, who owns the company, asking what more he could do to help and to talk to me about my experience of the product over twenty years of use. as this kind of field testing cannot be replicated any other way.
I am happy to write this review because it only takes a few negative reviews from disgruntled customers, for whatever reason, to do enormous damage to small innovative companies like DiscreteHeat. I have found the product to be excellent and can justify thatby twenty years of real world use which can rarely be vouched for in any reviews. Fortunately there are also many positive reviews from other long standing customers which I can now add my support.
The customer service I have received has been outstanding, and in all honesty, I had no divine right to either receive or expect that.

Great product but some niggles
We have had this installed for nearly 2 years now and broadly it works well. I installed it myself following their instructions which were not quite detailed enough for the BM3 profile and contained conflicting information (for example pipe centres on the provided template were for the BM2 profile not the BM3 profile) so I resorted to watching a lot of their videos. That said, provided you are relatively competent with woodwork/basic plumbing and you have a mitre saw and a decent tape measure you can do this as a DIY task as everything is push fit so no soldering required.
We opted for these as they are a very good solution to avoid radiators though for our two largest rooms we did have to supplement the skirting board with a radiator to meet the heat loss requirements for a low temperature system.
Information management:
Although the customer service team are very friendly and generally helpful, we did have issues with components almost being delivered to the wrong address because they kept defaulting to our old address where we'd ordered a sample to and with the original order the wrong profile capping was provided. To be fair, they did sort this out with replacement capping and matching MDF skirting at no cost to us.
The actual performance of the skirting boards is good but there are some niggles:
- They do make noise as they heat up and cool down. Mostly this is minimal but in one room I did have to adjust how one long section is attached to the wall to allow for more movement as the supplied clips don't allow for even slight curvature in the walls of older houses. This fixed the loud banging noise caused by the clips pulling the skirting too tight to the wall.
- The clips, aluminium covers and plastic corner joints do seem a bit flimsy.
- Some pieces supplied in the kit are not easily demountable meaning that if you need to change anything or accidentally connect something the wrong way it means buying new tectite pieces which are expensive.
- They need a better way to secure the ends of each run. I had a leak caused by the Thermaskirt slipping beyond the O-rings on a corner joint. This was despite having screwed the end to the wall. While customer service were helpful they did initially try to blame me for incorrect installation although I had followed their instructions. I ended up making my own custom bracket to secure this length in place.
- Heat output of ~80w per metre for the larger BM3 profile may mean that for larger rooms you'll still need to add a radiator if you're planning to run a low temperature system like a heat pump.
- They can be a pain to bleed but provided you have a tall radiator or towel rail, any air will eventually accumulate there allowing you to purge air from the system gradually.
In summary, I would recommend for simple room layouts where you don't need the additional under door kits or extra corner kits to deal with bay windows as these do add substantially to the cost. In these situations the system is great for heating the room uniformly and saving wall space used by radiators but there are some design improvements needed and I would urge prospective customers to triple check all the information provided at point of sale to ensure you get the correct items.

Splendid Service after 15 years!
We have had a small installation for background heat in the kitchen for nearly 15 years, having originally seen the product on Dragon's Den. We have just experienced a small leak from a thermostatic valve, and I am delighted to know that DiscreteHeat have agreed to replace the valve even though it is well passed its 10 year warranty. Exemplary service! I had forgotten how to remove the plate covering the TRV and couldn't find the original instructions, but the website is very easy to use to find the installation manual and the two hidden screws.

Installed thermaskirt upstairs in all…
Installed thermaskirt upstairs in all rooms as part of a full renovation .
We wanted something minimal and invisible as wall space was limited due to where the windows were and room layouts.
Important
We insulated the attic floor in full
We installed triple glazed windows
Really think about the start an end of runs and how where furniture will be placed if you can.
Order process
Great. Pete was fantastic. We had already measured the walls but Pete calculated the runs and made adjustments throughout the conversations and planning. All BTU measured per room so you can compare to radiators if you want to understand more. We wanted zone heating an he also advised, found and provided the right THB and thermostats for the job.
Order and arrival
Order came after several weeks (as expected) there were a few things that were wrong / missing but these were immediately figured out and replaced / delivered . No messing around here. Thank you Pete for being great throughout.
Installation
We had our onsite builders install them. They also had pre layed out the pipe work before the final floor was fitted. They did it all the skirting fitting in a day and a half. Very simple to connect . A few issues with the black connectors that you screw in the walls to clip the skirting to however we both think this might be more to do with the walls not being perfectly straight and the skirting being so solid and rigid. You might need to just replace the clip if you think it’s not right. Thermaskirt send you a bunch extra so no stress.
Result
Honestly the heating and the quality of the heat is beautiful. Having a gentle heat come from all sides really is noticeable and almost feels like underfloor heating when walking nearby with socks on. This is a very well thought out and designed product. It’s now December and upstairs is always a very pleasant temp.
It also looks incredibly clean and minimal. We had an extra aluminium strip instead of the top gasket / extra profile also provided by thermaskirt (as we’re not a fan of the gasket itself) and it really just ties it all together for an ultra clean look. Very happy with this result.
Few considerations for people interested.
If your walls or floors are not dead flat you will have to make adjustments (like us)
You can mastic / seal but we tried to avoid this as really just enjoyed the clean right angles of the aluminium so we cut the floor a little to allow the skirting to drop a little to conceal the gap. We did also use a little wood colour matched to the floor mastic so it’s not visible and mostly to hide the shadow itself.
Same goes for the top aluminium strip. Our walls even after plastering were not perfect (1960s) house so we made some micro adjustment to the wall facing edge and glued them down to conceal any shadow gaps.
This is a 5star product and a 5 star service even with the few hiccups of the order itself . This is also a premium product so you should look to compare the price to premium / design grade radiators.

Could not be happier
From start to finish, everything went exactly as expected. The product arrived when it was supposed to, delivery was straightforward, and there were no issues at all with the materials supplied.
The installation instructions and accompanying videos are extremely helpful and make the whole process much easier than fitting traditional radiators. Since installation, the system has worked exactly as I expected it to and performs very well. I could not be happier with it.
One of the key reasons I chose this system is that it looks and acts like a skirting board. That was very important to me and it works extremely well in that respect. The finish is excellent and you genuinely would not know it was not a standard skirting board. Another major benefit for me is that I have got my wall space back. Not having radiators fixed to the walls makes a huge difference, as it allows furniture to be placed properly without a radiator dictating where things can or cannot go.
The first installation I completed was a six-metre length in my hallway. Previously there had been a small radiator there which never worked particularly well. Since installing ThermaSkirt, the heat output has been fantastic. It now heats not only the hallway and entrance to the house, but the warmth also rises up the stairs and onto the first-floor landing, which has made a noticeable difference.
My system is a wet system. I have not used the electric version yet, although I may consider it in the future when my kitchen is refurbished. That said, I may well stay with the wet system. In terms of running costs, it is still early days, so I cannot yet comment fully on the long-term economics, although I have not noticed any significant variation so far. Once I expand the system to the rest of the house, which I fully intend to do, I will be looking more closely at how the overall costs balance out.
In my opinion, it is no more expensive than fitting standard radiators and is a much easier process overall. The performance and appearance have exceeded my expectations. Even my cat, Larry, approves and regularly lies next to it to enjoy the warmth.
Based on my experience so far, it is an extremely good product and one I would happily recommend.

Pleased with Thermaskirt and the team.
Had Thermaskirt fitted in the lounge and a bedroom in 2009, 16 years later it still looks as good as new and works well. Recently needed some advice and folks on technical support were very helpful.

Happy Customer
Firstly, love the planning side of having skirting board heating. Chris was really helpful and we also had a telephone conversation so I could show him the layout of the rooms. I am having two zones with this heating. I love the look of this heating, so untradtional but perfect for me, totally aligns with how I want my home to look. Very Subtle having skirting board heating. Its being installed at the mo' and am very excited. Will be able to update you regarding the heating side once its up and running.. Happy days. A very satisfied customer.

This product is not trustworthy
Updated 25/11/2025
I’m simply sharing the facts of my own experience and letting consumers make their own choices. And this isn’t a comment I made in the first year — I only wrote it after going through three years of issues.
Honestly, I don’t feel that I’m being unfair to you.
I paid a high price and used the installer trained and recommended by your company, yet I’ve experienced leakage problems for three years. I’ve also had to spend a significant amount on repairs, including fixing the flooring and ceiling.
Now you’re offering me a new skirt board, but I still need to pay for installation and deal with the whole issue again. I no longer trust your product. I don’t want to waste more money on repairs, not knowing where the next leak will happen next year. The problems just keep repeating.
I might as well install a radiator — at least I won’t have to worry about leaks.
Another thing consumers should consider is that skirt heating systems have many connection points, and the connection joints in your product are very fragile, which leads to a high risk of leakage.
24/11/2025
This product is not trustworthy. I installed it three years ago using an installer trained and recommended by the company. Every year, I also added the inhibitor as instructed. However, leaks occurred every single year, appearing in different places and at different joints. This has caused damage to both my ceiling and flooring.
The manufacturer’s claim of a 10-year warranty is also unreliable—they always find excuses to avoid taking responsibility.

Thermaskirt DIY Install
Thermaskirt, is so much better than traditional radiator and is a far better retro-fit option than underfloor heating. The installation details provided along with the videos available provide all the details needed to install the system correctly.
The team at Thermaskirt where extremely helpful an quickly resolved any issues encountered throughout the installation.
Anyone with average DIY skill should be able to complete the install, provided they are ok with push fit plumbing. The finished product looks great and best of all no more radiators or cold spots in the room.
I chose to bring the rooms online individually resulting in a hybrid Radiator and Thermaskirt combination for a short period, but the system coped with this perfectly. I would highly recommend this product.
I will also be using Thermaskirt in my house extension once this completes.

Discrete Heat wet heated skirting
Recently ordered a wet heated skirting system from Discrete Heat. The team were able to design a custom solution very quickly from a few basic details. The kit was dispatched very quickly (received within a couple of days). It was relatively straight forward to instal and there was alot of helpful documents and videos on the website to support. Finished article looks great and produces a decent amount for heat.

Would recommend DiscreteHeat Thermaskirt
We have had ThermaSkirt H₂O for several years. It was installed easily and has worked great. It is great not having radiators taking up space. Customer service since installation has also been very good when infrequently required.

Very happy customer
We were new to this concept, but thanks to a good friend we were introduce to a new way of heating your house.
For a small space I cannot recommend more this product. Getting rid of the radiators really makes a difference, and in our case, losing them suddenly make all the rooms more spacious.
The team is extremely efficient and helpful, and altho the system is flooded with at in the beginnin a confusing terminology, they are always happy to help. Special mention to Chris, who was extremely patient with us.
If you are considering this product, yes its great. Now that we have fully installed, I can advice two things. We are now regretting not going for the a little bit more expensive option for the top of the skirt options. The rubbery material (the cheapest option) isnt really very sexy.
Also a heads up, most of the houses in the UK havent been introduce to the term straight lines. And this can be a problem sometimes, as the floors are not alway quite straight. So if you are doing your floor, keep this in mind.
Regardles of this, excellent product, and you can install it yourself! (level medium-expert) in the handyman scale.
