Choisya Candle (190 grams). Zero strength of fragrance when lit, even after 3 hours in a small room. Considering the recent price hike I expected the quality of the product to at least be maintained... See more

I bought a Figuier candle and have been bitterly disappointed. When I unboxed it, I could barely smell the fragrance and when I burned it (for 3 and a half hours) it was no better, giving off little to no aroma at all. The quality is extremely poor in relation to the price of the candle and it compares extremely unfavourably with other premium brands, which give off a much stronger and longer lasting fragrance. I was hoping Diptyque would be my new favourite candle brand but I just feel like an idiot for having wasted my money!

Inflated prices and rude staff. Avoid the management lady at the Marylebone location. I have been to church and seen less preaching.

Bought a Candle from TK Maxx slightly reduced (£45) who are a well known brand. The quality of the candle was very poor. No smell at all.
I contacted Diptique and because TK Maxx are not one of their authorized sellers. They totally disregarded the fact that the candle might not be authentic. However, it was their logo etc all over the box and candle.
They refuse to assist me although the manufacturing of the product was made by them.
Disregarded any points that I made telling me to contact TK Maxx when my complaint was about the quality of the product.
Do not buy these candles. Not worth the expensive cost. If there is an issue don't expect any assistance.

Update:
After my initial complaint, Diptyque reached out, acknowledged the mistake and offered to send the compensation items separately, without asking for a new order. I really appreciate that the brand ultimately acted in line with the quality of its fragrances, and I’m happy to keep purchasing from them.

I’m really disappointed with my recent experience with Diptyque.
I placed an order to Portugal on 16 November (around €150, a perfume that was meant to be a birthday gift). On Diptyque’s own website, the stated delivery time for Portugal is 2–5 business days. My parcel, however, took 20 days to arrive.
After many days without any movement on the tracking, I contacted customer service to understand what was happening. They then told me they would send a new parcel with some complimentary gifts as an apology for the delay.
Unexpectedly, the original parcel finally started moving and was delivered first. Shortly afterwards, I received an email asking me to refuse the second parcel at the door so it would be automatically returned to them – which I agreed to do, as it is indeed the easiest way to handle a return.
Since the second shipment had been created specifically as an apology (with extra gifts included), I kindly asked if it would be possible to receive just the compensation items separately. The answer was no – I was told that my problem was now “solved” because the original order had arrived, and that they would only be happy to send the complimentary items if I placed a new order.
So, in the end:
- The order arrived much later than the 2–5 business days promised on their website.
- The perfume arrived late for the birthday it was meant for.
- The “apology” parcel was cancelled, and the compensation only exists if I spend more money with them.
Honestly, for a luxury brand, this is very disappointing. Even much cheaper online platforms offer a real gesture of goodwill when deliveries are heavily delayed. Here, the delay was significant, the promise of an apology was made, and then taken back when the original parcel finally appeared.
This experience really makes me reconsider ordering from Diptyque again.

I have shopped with Diptyque for around 20 years & during that time they have been absolute pinnacle of perfectionists in both creativity & service. Their products were always an absolute joy & the unique artisan creations for the Christmas period were always exceptional. Sadly however, since the pandemic, the creativity of Diptyque appears to have been tragically over taken with an obsession with satisfying a social media audience & the almost slavish production of new & 'limited release' perfumes & even worse unbearably awful merchandise (such as oversized wax vases) which I cannot imagine anyone would ever need or want.
I miss particularly the artistry of the Christmas Season, where room perfumes & candles were exquisitely packaged & unique for each year as opposed to recent years where it's just Sapin re-released in new packaging, which is really rather dull. Equally, Sapin, isn't particularly special, they have created far better seasonal scents in the past.
As for service, whilst I cannot fault the lady who serves me in their Harrods Beauty Outlet, their online service perhaps requires a bit more consideration to their clients. I have spent over £300 in the last few days, £276 of which was spent 2 days ago on their website. One would have thought that perhaps even a small candle would have been sent as way of a complimentary gift as a way of rewarding customers brand loyalty, but all I received was ONE tiny sample of Do Son, even though I had just purchased that very perfume. So, one could say at best thoughtless at worst cynicism.
Their 'gift' is placing already beautifully packed candles inside seasonal boxes. Whilst the boxes are lovely, it seems rather useless & wasteful!
What remains true, their candles are divine & I will always have a place in my heart for diptyque & I will of course continue to purchase their products but that loyalty is based on times gone by, not for what it has become.
Their current trajectory is really rather depressing for a brand that was built on such artisanal & exquisite heritage. For me personally, it feels they have lost something rather special, their individualism, which is rather sad.

I was at the Diptyque store in Covent Garden. The shop assistant Irfan was super helpful and attentive. He wrapped the candle I purchased beautifully and put a stamp on the bag. It looks very nice and special. Thank you for your service.

I really like Diptyque (de). Every order i've placed was quickly processed. No bad surprises during checkout. The customer service has been very helpful and friendly so far. My favourite perfume house.

Sent a gift directly from diptyque which recipient wanted to exchange but was not allowed to in store as it was brought online? Online doesn’t do exchanges only refunds directly to original gifter
Customer service was maddeningly useless. Why offer gift services online if the gift cannot be exchanged makes absolutely no sense. Dread to think of the multiple people I’m not as close to that received gifts that they were stuck with.
Will never be buying from Diptyque again. Also have brought multiple candles from them but have noticed a steep decline in scent from 2021 onwards.. no better than any other cheap candle now but perfumes still work well
The most unhelpful customer service! Have proof of purchase have evidence item was in still mint condition yet cannot do a direct exchange for SAME ITEM SAME PRICE just different scent.
They had me return and do a new order. Especially embarrassing since it was a gift!!! I alone sent it back as dealing with the customer services were rude, unhelpful and deeply disappointing for such a costly brand.
Shameful!!

Feu du Bois candle - minimal scent. I returned one and got a replacement but still pointless.

I ordered a perfume as a birthday gift for my daughter, order No. EU312113. An expensive gift, but she is a die hard niche perfume collector. I couldnt wait to give her the gift, but .... what a disappointment. The bottle was NOT as it was supposed to be. There was NOTHING on it, and my daughter's gift was just an embarrasment, looked like a cheap copy. Not AT ALL what I expected from a high end parfume brand!!!!!
I emailed customer service 3 times, but they did not bother to reply.

Well, its the email you have used to write to me every time ....
I am definitely even less satisfied now. Your solution is that I wait for a return label, the find new shipping box as the one you used is long trashed, take a trip to the post office, wait for the package to reach you, then wait for the replacement bottle to reach ME. Bearing in mind that this perfume was purchased as a gift, this is embarrassing for me, not to mention time consuming and utterly annoying. With such poor customer service I really do regret purchasing anything from Diptyque in the first place.

Lovely products but truly terrible customer service. It’s like dealing with a drunk chatbot. Ask a simple question and get the most confusing ‘answer’ and no resolution. Plus the welcome gift is a really useless uninspiring notepad. Such a shame a great product is let down by the customer service.

I bought some Philosykos edt by Diptyque. It was expensive but was the weakest edp I have ever bought in 45 years. I took it on a 7 day holiday and it was finished by the end of the holiday because I had to use so much of it. Really surprised and disappointed, especially for the price it cost and the fact that it is a well known luxury brand.
I reached out to Diptyque but they were extremely unhelpful.

My mistake entirely
I sent back a SpaceNK return to Diptyque. I mistakenly put a Diptyque label on it.
I let them know before they even received the return and was told that it would be refused and returned to me.
Weeks later and the saga goes-they accepted my parcel. Opened the parcel. Took my items out of the parcel. Put SpaceNk’s Diptyque candles in their stocks. Set aside the other brands of candles in the parcel. Told me they hadn’t received the parcel. They then couldn’t find the parcel. (But once I was set to log a formal complaint), they had not only located but returned the parcel to me. YAY!!
EXCEPT minus three Diptyque candles. So I had to wait another week for them to “find” the candles they tried to steal all the while this query has apparently been escalated, the warehouse manager & CS manager has been informed of all information and instructions. I am being told to trust them they will send it back.
SpaceNK to their credit did accept the week late return but I now have three Diptyque candles here with scents I did not like because they sent me back half a parcel. I couldn’t return the three separately to SpaceNK it just wouldn’t have been right after me already being late. Bear in mind most returns policies are 28 days and I was a week late to return back to SpaceNK so that’s just how long this took to clear and how much advance notifications Diptyque had of this situation. Absolute nightmare!
It was my mistake but also I did inform them before the parcel arrived and kept them informed of everything-receipts, items in the parcel, returns label, SpaceNK’s order number, my address, even how the parcel was wrapped in tape and they still managed to claim non-receipts and even received it, took items out and sent me back the rest.
The funny thing is they took the Diptyque candles out but didn’t refund them?
Yet I am a Diptyque customer.
They saw other branded candles in the parcel and didn’t acknowledge it. Hmmm!!
They don’t refund unless you chase them in any capacity but a lot of your service in this instance was ridiculous.
The ONLY REASON for two stars is that Muboti I believe was telling the truth in the fact of trying to resolve and get my return back to me as quick as possible.

I placed an order for a room fragrance and a soap. The order arrived quickly within 3 working days. It was packed beautifully in a gift box and in pouches. I also received the 2 perfume samples I picked and a notebook along with my main order. I am very impressed with their service and taking so much care in packing the order. I will definitely place an order with them again.

This review concerns their hiring practices in New York. I went through six rounds for a lower-to-mid-level role (Key Holder): one phone interview and five in-person interviews, culminating in a final meeting with senior management. Despite being told I was a frontrunner and heavily encouraged when asked what were next steps, I was ghosted and only informed weeks later that I was not selected. The process showed a fragrant disregard for candidates’ time — 3.5 weeks of interviews for a position that, in hindsight, seemed unlikely to exist. The final interview, held casually during a “lunchtime” company retreat near Bryant Park, underscored how disorganized and dismissive the experience was. Do better—have compassion for HUMAN BEINGS actively looking for gainful employment.

What a mess- order was returned using their return label, return was delivered but customer service denies receiving it. Wow. Someone I know also received a refund very late and only after contacting them. Avoid
I sent them a few questions in a private message on Facebook some 8 days ago. They never responded. I am not surprised to see many poor reviews here. A shame.
Update: A month later, they never answered (on FB). I definitely won't be ordering from their website.

I purchased a DIPTYQUE - bougie perfumee candle, I can honestly say the smell when lit was extraordinarily awful!! Never have I had such a candle that gave off such a disgusting aroma! It was so bad I had to put it out into the garden as the smell lingered when I extinguished it. Yuk

I’m extremely disappointed with my experience. The company clearly states in their terms and conditions that refunds will be issued within 14 days — this did not happen.
Despite repeated follow-ups, I’ve received nothing but vague promises and delays. I was told the issue would be escalated internally, but even after the refund deadline had passed, there was still no resolution. I was then asked to wait again, with no accountability.
At this point, I’m left feeling like the company is deliberately withholding my money. When a business refuses to honour its own policies, it stops being a mistake and starts looking like theft.
Absolutely unacceptable.
