WOW these comments are crazy

WOW these comments are crazy. I'm thinking they should maybe check that it's fitted properly. I had one on my car for 2 years and it was the best money I've spent on any of my cars. Better performance, Bluetooth connectivity, better fuel economy. It was all win/win for me. If they were still trading I'd buy them for every new car I'll own.

Avoid or lose your money

I won a CCJ against this company in June 2019 for a full refund of my spider diesel tuning box which never worked as advertised and as soon as I complained, they went silent. Of course, they have to date not paid up. Companies house shows an active proposal to strike them off for over due accounts again. Just look into this company and you will see a string of dissolved businesses involving the same director. Draw your own conclusions form this.

Go elswhere, support is terrible.

Well, Where do I start. Original order shipped with wrong wiring loom. Instructions were for a different model altogether. Multiple emails and requests for assistance resulted in nothing until one day that finally responded and agreed to replace the loom.
New loom, ALMOST impossible to get the plug onto the diesel rail. It fell off once which was quite a distressful event for my wife. (When 3.0l v6 turbo diesel stops, IT STOPS).
I sent photos showing the connector was not correct, over and over.
Once I found A way to make it stay on, it worked, but did very little for performance or otherwise. Again I tried repeatedly to get a response to a simple question. WHICH Firmware should I set for my car. NO RESPONSE. Eventually the system died, (well the connector failed) and still no response. So after buying a piece of original loom from the wreckers and putting the correct diesel rail plug on, IT works.. BACK to square 1. Which firmware, how to I reset it to do a new calibration... NO RESPONSE.
I'd really like SOME performance for my $500.
THANKS Amelia for saying you love Aussie's but you don't bloody well help them!

A SCAM. Paid and radio silence..

A SCAM. Do not feed the scammer any further.

The entire process was a pain to the non-existent finish.

I placed an order on the 6th of May. Wrote in an e-mail to confirm the model of my car as my car was in the transition year between models. No response.

Order was "processed" on the next day. Radio silence yet again. Wrote another e-mail in. No response.

Tried to call through multiple times from Singapore (imagine my IDD rates). No response. E-mailed them further, again radio silence.

FINALLY, on the 14th May, managed to get hold of a someone via their online web chat. Where they apologized for the delay and told me it will be shipped out within the week and I will get it in 2-3 days.

Waited and waited and waited. 28th May still no sight of my chip. Wrote another e-mail. Contacted them via Facebook chat as well.. Nothing....

Finally I got enough and I found someone else asking for their chip on Facebook from an order apparently done 6 months ago. I posted a link to report fraud in the UK and viola, they took down their Facebook page.

Bloody scam. I have written into my bank to ask for a credit card charge dispute. 7 e-mails, 4 facebook chats, 1 online web chat and I get nothing back from them.

I believe the company is going down under. STOP feeding them. As of today, their website is still up. BUYERS, do look for alternatives instead of funding the life of these scammers.

Totally Unprofessional Outfit

Update:
Amelia, you need to take a closer look at your website. Scroll down and you will see under your "Why Choose iMode" section on the left hand side under "Adjustable", where it states Choose your level of performance using the supplied dash mounted touchscreen or via your Android smartphone, right from your seat! Select your driving style, increase the boost or change the warm up time".

As I have said your website is not clear and when processing the order, it gives no option to select a touchscreen.

I guess I should start at the beginning................

I spent considerable time reviewing all the different companies out there and decided to go with Spider, primarily on the basis that I read Mike Marsden was one of the pioneers in the tuning box field. I also read a number of positive reviews which gave me a comfortable feeling about the company. How wrong I was!

I placed the order on 4th December 2018. I would like to add at this point the payment was taken from my account immediately. After two weeks I had still not received the unit and tried to call to find out what the problem was. This in itself was a very frustrating exercise. I repeatedly tried calling and gave up after 30 minutes (1 hour on one occasion) on hold countless times. I eventually got a reply to an email and was assured a "second" unit would be shipped out to me before they shut down for Christmas and New Year. It eventually arrived on 24th December!!!

I was then surprised and disappointed to find there was no dash mounted touchscreen in the box. I am an IOS user, but was assured by the comments on the web page this would not be a problem "Choose your level of performance using the supplied dash mounted touchscreen or via your Android smartphone, right from your seat! Select your driving style, increase the boost or change the warm up time".

Now I was in a position that they were shut down for the festive holiday period. I called in the New Year on 7th January (several times again before I got an answer) and was told that this was an additional extra, at a cost of £100 I explained that this was not made clear in the online ordering process and so asked for a refund.

As instructed I went through the "Returns" process online via the link on the website. This dragged on as well and it was the 16th January before I received a waybill for returning the unit. After waiting to see my refund credited to my account, I then made contact via email for an update - no response. I emailed again and received the reply on 29th January "I can confirm receipt, and am awaiting the update from our team once the unit is inspected/approved for refund, then we will process it".

I eventually contacted my bank, who then followed up on the case on my behalf and it was the 5th April before the money was credited to my account.

In summary:
1. Customer Service an absolute joke. Answer your phones please!!!
2. After Sales Service shocking. Once they have got your money, they are not interested.
3. Website misleading. Needs to be more clear for non Android users that the dash mounted touchscreen is an additional cost. Update the ordering process.

Whilst we sincerely apologise for the delay in replacing your original order, I think it is fair to say it is stated quite clearly that the touchscreen is optional, the first line of text on our homepage states: "Professional Chiptuning with optional in car touchscreen control or use the App!" so I am surprised you missed it.
However, we did organise the collection free of charge, and my apologies to hear of the protracted refund.

Out of the 200,000+ customers since our formation, we do sometimes slip. We will definitely use this review to help improve our service in the future, and wish you all the best.

2008 Hilux D4D

I have one put into my old 2008 Hilux d4d 3l and the power and fuel consumption is great, there is one slight hick up and that is the ammount of dark smoke upon acceleration in second gear. This does not however effect much of the performance.
Overall it adds value to your driving experience.

I fitted the I mode to my focus st…

I fitted the I mode to my focus st diesel and am really pleased with the results ,the fuel economy is up 5 mpg during urban driving and 10 -15 mpg on long runs at the same time there is a genuine performance increase the car feels like I hoped an st would when I got it.i had an issue with my harness not fitting when I got it but this was sorted quickly with an engineer that was in the area even calling at my house to bring me a new one and making sure it fitted ok .during busy times it might take a while to get to speak to someone on the phone but the email service is spot on even on a weekend.all in all a top product sold by a top group of people.

Excellent product. Professional and courteous support.

Been dealing with Spider (Diesel Tuning) for nearly 10 years with various cars.

First of all their products are of very high quality and are amazing. Not only do they provide more performance, but they improve fuel consumption as well. I have always found improved driveability and smoothness. The engine feels less stressed at cruising speeds with at least 15% improved fuel consumption. As with all diesel engines, the increased torque helps make acceleration better and punchier. Pulling away from traffic lights is smoother, and overtaking is less fraught.

Customer support is amazing and very professional. I ordered a new iMode back in June for a new car. It hadn’t arrived after 2 weeks, so I contacted their customer support by email. I got a reply within an hour and new one was dispatched that day. Any time I have had to deal with Spider, they have been very helpful and very courteous.
Overall, these guys are a great company, offering an excellent product.

I am happy to review dieseltuning and…

I am happy to review dieseltuning and the Spider tuners. Over the last 8 years Ihave purchased 4 units for various VW vehicles and the results are astounding to both performance and fuel economy. A 2ltr golf wagon now 8 years old gets over 3.7 ltr per 100km and has fantastic pulling power. Take it off and the car feels dead. The backup is fantastic and communication great, I live in Australia ,no problems. Thanks Dieseltuning, my cars have now very little turbo lag,great performance and fuel economy.

Recommended to me by a friend who tuned…

Recommended to me by a friend who tuned his Porsche Macan with this product so decided to give it a go for my Macan. I am really impressed by both the performance increase and also the bluetooth adjustment. I chipped an older car but the tuning adjustment was a pain, where as with imode I don't even need to stop the car. Easy to fit, instructions were specific to my engine, well packaged and high quality. Only issue is help is only available online but they answered all my questions prompt, and they do offer a call back service from their workshop if you have any problems. 5* from me.

Slow support and then ZERO customer Services since returned tablet.

I didn't want to get to the point of having to review this company publicly but I'm left without a choice.

So I installed the unit and it works well most of the time. I had some issues at the start where the system would cause the car to stutter at hard acceleration and had a few "Engine Fuel System" faults. These can be dealt with but it took a long time for their "Support" person to respond to my questions.

However the BIG issue I have had is with the table supplied.
I could not get it to connect and stay connected with the iMode from inside the car at all. I actuality it would only connect if I had the bonnet of the car opened and stood outside the car.
I managed to get an old Android table I had at home to connect from inside once it is on the passenger side of the car.
After a few attempts to contact them about this they eventually told me to return it which I did when they eventually gave me an address to send it to.
After weeks when I had heard nothing I emailed asking what was happening and was told there is nothing wrong with the table and I hadn't connected it to the iMode. Really???
I explained again my experience trying to get it to hold a connection and again heard noting for an extended time.
Eventually I told them to just refund that part of the cost and was told that they couldn't because it was bought with a voucher and I could have a free firmware upgrade in the future instead when I change car (do they really think I want that after this experience).

I then asked them to please refund the money to the credit card that bought the voucher.
I haven't had a response to my emails since that. I even told them to just send me the replacement and I'll deal with it myself.
We are talking about this process happening over a number of months by the way, not days or weeks.

Resorted to contacting them on Facebook because I though they had closed down. I received a response and was told to raise a ticket in my account on their site.
1. I don't have an account.
2. They have already got the screen.

Told them this and the response after a week or so was to tell the person who bought the voucher to enter their account and open the ticket.

Wasn't impressed with this when they already have the screen but haven't had a response since.

Please Diesel Tuning (Spider) respond to this with your excuse so I can post all the emails from the past months with the huge gaps in the dates and the Facebook stuff as well...................

Or maybe just get in contact and we can sort it all out.

Alfa Romeo - Amazing!!!!!!

What a product and customer service!

The product was faultless and improved the performance of my car dramatically. I was also impressed with how helpful they were on the phone they gave me clear instructions over the phone on how to fit the product.

Would buy again but as the product will work on any car (you just need a new lead) I will never have 2!!!!!!

WOW, Smoother, a real power band, faster, engine feels alive

Despite an initial problem where Ford had changed the MAP plug mid run on the Mk3 Focus 1.6 Durateq 115PS, Spider support and service was outstanding, quick to answer all emails and the new correct cable personally posted with next day delivery. Outstanding service

Fitting was awkward as Ford had gone out of their way to hide the Fuel rail, but I have now mastered this and fitting now takes 7 mins and removal 10 and that includes the 3 minutes wait for the engine electrics to shut down. Spider have my notes on this so ot should be easy for others to fit on this engine

Noticed during the 10 mins I let it idle that fuel went from 0.2 g/h to 0.1 g/h (where it used to be), and I gave it a few revs to 3000rpm after the 10 mins, the first rev had huge stutter around 2-2500 rpm, but after a few slow revs it smoothed out, so expect the unit is learning all the time

Did a few drives around the block, she felt as rough as a badgers!, really noisy and spluttery, was beginning to think oh dear, this aint gonna work, But it didn't throw a CEL, so I went for a wider loop, suddenly at around the 3 mile mark, she smoothed out, still had a rough patch around 2500. Carried on and went further as she seemed to be getting better, Bear in mind this is in ECO mode, the lowest setting

Suddenly at 10 miles I came around the roundabout by the McClaren building and bam!, I'd given her the normal amount of pedal, but she lept out the exit, gradually I could feel more grunt, It was low down torque, also noticed she was getting smoother and smoother, started to feel she was faster to respond. Also noticed she was showing higher mpg at constant speed like 80mpg at 30 rather than the normal 68 in 6th

At 30 miles and after a good blat along the A25 over the downs I approached Coldharbour and all my favourite lanes, where I used to drive my old track car (Andy Rousses ex ford works 94 Mondeo) so I pulled in at set her to Fast road 2. BAM! WOW, she feels like a petrol car, and revs out, was exceedingly hard to keep under 4K revs. She flew, even spun the wheels a few times exiting the bends, and she was only 5 seconds slower on my normal test section (the focus handles well, but need stiffer springs and stiffer anti roll bar on rear)

Come back grinning on the motorway where she was doing 75mph at 86 mpg!!!!!. Got home having done 55 miles, most of it pushing the car and accelerating hard and my average MPG has gone UP 3 mpg!!!!!, Engine seems very smooth

Since then I have tried out the other modes and race and the whole engine has smoothed out over all the rev range, she feels like a petrol car now. Had to take the chip off for her service and really noticed how lumpy and down in power the normal engine is

Race is unbelievable but not for day to day driving, the engine is so responsive that you cant change through the 6 speed box fast enough to keep her on the power, you end up jumping 2 gears at a time. Fast road 4 is just that little bit easier

I've actually been driving most of the time now in Fast mode 3 as this seems a good mix, of smoothness, extra go but slightly less narrow power, Still has a great pick up and pop from the lights (ask the kid in the golf GTI last night!). Fuel economy seems unaffected even with the right foot down

So thumbs up from me, would definitely recommend (and have done) this to other focus owners. go buy one
