I purchased 4 dining chairs on 5th July…

I purchased 4 dining chairs on 5th July 2025. After 4 different delivery dates, I had still not received by October 2025.
I contacted them for a refund on 25th October, which they said yes money would be refunded in 3-5 days.
3rd of November today and I'm still waiting for refund.
Don't purchase anything from theDickSmith the service is shocking and unprofessional

If I could give a negative rating I would

To say that their returns policy is an utter shambles is being kind. It has taken me multiple emails and references to their returns policy to convince them to issue me a refund. It has then taken multiple emails to return the item to them. I returned the item 9 days ago and am still waiting for them to even confirm they have received it. I'm not holding out hope for a refund - I suspect they have made their process this ridiculous so that people will give up and go away. I can't even resell the item I purchased on Trade Me as I have sent it back to them. Only buy from DickSmith if you are prepared to lose your money.

I don’t think I would have enough energy to give all my elements to the worst experience with the care team, and wouldn’t you know it tried to call directly (Melbourne), all l get is a voice activated message referring me back to dealing with their care team.

They suck

They suck. They make it extreamly dart to contact to discuss anything. Spent ages !! I give up. Whats this world coming to!

My grip is that I brought a item on line... easy ?? - havnt created an an account just pre paid. Fine by me. But next thing after the free 14day free freight deal you ar locked into a monthly subscription to get deals!! Approx $18 per mth !! - i gave no permition for this!!
Scam! - they have brought the Smith City name !!! Only ! Angry

Avoid at all costs!

Avoid at all costs!! Bought an item which came on time, item was great... but then they took $99NZD out of my account two weeks later. Turns out they have a tick box auto selected and concealed on one of the sale pages. I did not see it at all and did not actively consent to a 'membership', but it was auto-selected. Turns out they've been doing this for a while and the Commerce Commission has been investigating them and had issued them a warning. In 2024 it was published on Stuff that they had stated they would stop doing it - BUT THEY HAVEN'T. Slimey dishonest gits. Avoid avoid avoid.

Oh, and there is no customer service, so you really have to work hard to get refunded.

Don’t buy from this company they actually suck 😭I bought something from there thinking there were a good nz company but I should’ve read reviews before. I purchased my order weeks ago and it took ages to come, the tracking was horrible and not accurate at all, when I contacted the company they never responded and the product I received is not great and smells FISHY?? Please save your self all this trouble and DO NOT BUY.

They are not the store of old who actually cared about their customers, It's actually a Chinese Company and their customer service is piss poor , I ordered a portable Nebuliser machine a month ago and it hasn't been delivered and when I check the delivery status it hasn't been updated since 23rd of September.
Do not bother with this Company and shop elsewhere

Dicksmith doesn't look a good place to shop anymore.

They used to be good place to shop.
Now with the online only option was ok until you could call someone and talk to resolve questions or issues, now you can't do it anymore, and also some products that are questionable about it's authenticity that disclosure with words like they are selling on behalf of 3rd party, kind of given idea of not being responsible for if something goes wrong. Dicksmith doesn't look a professional or attractive place to shop anymore.

I would give a minus star review if I could. Bought skin care 3 weeks ago. Still have no product no one has been in touch with me and I have been charged $60 more than what was on my invoice! Absolutely daylight robbery and I cant contact anyone.

False Advertising

Purchased an Exercise Bike and it arrived quickly enough but it didnt match the description it was advertised as. Contacting the Supplier and they did nothing. D.smith contacted me and asked what went wrong and when they were told they stated "they would get back to me" which never happened. Bad Service, No follow through and Poor Customer Service...wouldnt shop there again!

D. Smith stole my money through a "subscription" they won't let me cancel.

D. Smith sent me an email saying that I was signed up to their FIRST subscription, and that I'd be charged $149 unless I cancelled the subscription. To cancel the subscription I needed to log on to the website. I tried to log on, and spent an hour in a loop having verification codes sent to my email that would simply reload the log in page, only to send me another verification email. There is no phone number to call them, and their chat-to-staff function doesn't work if you're not logged in, so I wasn't able to tell them about the bug that wont let me log in unless I'm logged in. I then emailed them telling them to cancel the subscription (which again, I never signed up for), and three days later they charged $149 to my card, and have yet to respond to my email. I'm going to make a dispute claim, and will never buy from D. Smith again, and I strongly suggest you don't either unless you want them to steal your money and not have any way to get in touch with them.

D$ck Smith has been warned by the NZ Commerce Commision over its First Membership subscription practices, warning that they likely breached the fair trading act. Stay away from them they don't seem to want to do the right thing and refund everyone that unwillingly or unknowingly paid the subscription. Google NZ comcom. It's dropshipping and it's fine

It's dropshipping, don't expect anything else. Tracking was great from international to door. Item was in new condition as specified and arrived within 3 weeks. Pray you don't have issues as you're on your own. Price is right.

I ordered a fitbit

I ordered a fitbit, it took 4 weeks to arrive (from China). It charges up fully but then the battery runs down over 24 hours. For reference a functioning fitbit lasts 5-7 days. I contacted customer service and they told me to turn off some functions to maximize battery life (WTF?!), or offered me a 50% refund. UNACCEPTABLE!!! and they have no actual customer service people here in NZ, my complaints have gone straight to a 3rd party seller in Singapore who is just jerking me around, asking me to ship it back to him to "trouble shoot"(It will cost $25 untracked $67 dollars tracked so I am NOT doing that). NEVER EVER buying from them again. (cant even type the name because its flagged as offensive language lol)

Extremely Disappointed – Poor Quality and Short Lifespan

I purchased the Emitto 3-Colour Ultra-Thin 5CM LED Ceiling Light (90W) through D ick Smith and Traderight NZ. It looked good initially, but the quality is shockingly poor. The light failed after a very short period of use — completely unacceptable for a supposedly modern product.

There was no warning about its short lifespan, and it’s clear now that this is a "you get what you pay for" situation. I would not recommend this product or these sellers.
Very disappointed.

I made a purchase on the 1st July 2025…

I made a purchase on the 1st July 2025 there was a membership offer of $14.99 and you could cancel at any time, which I did not tick or accept at all.
I found that the visa I used to purchase my product with was charged a membership fee on 16th July.
I went on line to contact them what a night mare I could not get through to customer care.
They work in conjunction with grab one whom I contacted and the referred me back to the retailer
Still couldn't contact. Had to cancel my visa in the end.
