The client engaged Dwell Rich Ltd for furniture selection and sourcing services only. As confirmed in a written email agreement before commencement, a £500 deposit was required to initiate the work, with a 15% sourcing fee payable only after final furniture selections were completed. The deposit was as payment toward professional time and services and was not a refundable holding fee.
Following receipt of the deposit, work commenced and included several hours of furniture sourcing across multiple brands for the master bedroom, children’s bedroom, and guest bedroom, all in line with the agreed budget and brief. At the client’s request, additional alternative options were sourced. In addition, two layout proposals for the formal reception area were prepared and presented to the client.
During the process, the client requested sourcing of beds priced at approximately £250 and asked that trade discounts be applied to items at this level. The Director advised that such products could not be recommended or associated with the company due to quality concerns, as this would not align with Dwell Rich Ltd’s professional standards. This position was communicated clearly and respectfully.
When the client elected to discontinue the service, Dwell Rich Ltd agreed to do so and confirmed that the deposit would be partially refunded after accounting for the work already completed. The portion retained reflects genuine professional time and services delivered.
We acknowledge the client’s disappointment; however, the assertion that no work was carried out or that charges were applied outside the agreed terms is inaccurate. Dwell Rich Ltd acted in accordance with the written agreement and professional practice throughout the engagement.
