Underwhelmed food taste and experience
Sadly, this was a disappointing experience, particularly when it came to the food. If it were possible to rate the food separately, I’d struggle to give it even one star.
The Dahi Bhalla was served cold and lacked the authentic flavour we were expecting. The Pani Puri was probably the biggest disappointment — the puris and filling were substandard and the pani tasted far removed from what good, authentic pani puri should be. The Samosa Chaat was average at best, while the parathas were surprisingly small and the accompanying chole did little to improve matters.
It also didn’t help that two of the five items we asked for were unavailable.
The service experience started on an equally underwhelming note. We entered the restaurant without so much as a greeting or acknowledgement and eventually just made our own way to the nearest table. For an industry built around hospitality, a simple welcome shouldn’t be too much to expect.
To be fair, Harmeet Singh, the owner, was pleasant, and the ambience was acceptable — but unfortunately neither could compensate for the quality of the food.
For us, the fundamentals simply weren’t there: authenticity, quality, hospitality and value for money. There are far better options available for this type of food, so regrettably, we won’t be returning.
