High price for IT services, but very bad service when registration goes wrong
Other reviewers have already pointed to the layers of extra costs which DataSport adds on, e.g., for the payment mechanisms, which frequently are 5-10% of the total price. In my mind the listed event cost should be the price you pay. There are supposedly ways to bypass these "cream skimming" costs, but in reality DataSport makes those paths impossible to use, so you have to put up with them.
But my last experience shows that DataSport's high margins do not imply good service: I tried to register my wife and son for an event through my account. Everything went through normally and I paid the bill with their 5% markup, but received no confirmation, probably due to an IT bug. I wrote to them with the confirmation of payment, but for several emails they claimed they had received no registration and completely ignored the payment confirmation. On the third email from my side, they finally confirmed that they had received payment, but "we had to forward your request to IT, so it will take a moment for it to be fully processed."
I'm fed up with DataSport's high margins, particular if they provide bad service if something goes wrong. I love sporting events, but I will no longer participate if these use DataSport for registration. Hopefully other frustrated sports-lovers will join me.
