Cycle Breaks has been organising self-guided cycling and walking holidays since 1991, from our base in Suffolk, England. Each holiday includes hand-picked hotels, daily luggage transfers and clear route notes or GPS navigation. Because no two tours suit every rider, we are very happy to work with you before booking to match your fitness and expectations to the right trip — and we'd rather not sell a holiday than sell you the wrong one. We look after all arrangements directly for our itineraries in England (Suffolk, Norfolk) and work with trusted local partners across Austria (The Austrian Lakes, The Danube, Mur River Valley), France (Alsace, The Dordogne, Languedoc, Loire Valley, Provence), Germany (Baltic Coast, Lake Constance, Moselle, Munich Lakes), Italy (Trentino/SudTirol, Piedmont, Puglia, Tuscany, Veneto), Portugal (Algarve, Alentejo) and Spain (Catalonia, Rioja, Valencia), plus Bike & Boat holidays in Austria, France, Belgium, Holland, Hungary and Italy. We welcome solo travellers, couples, families and groups, with e-bikes available in most areas.

The Classic Provence was a delightful trip around the east of Provence, taking in the Rhone valley and its many vineyards. It was nice to stay two nights in some of the hotels. The local German company supporting us were good as were the hotel in Orange with such friendly staff.

I had a hugely enjoyable solo cycling holiday in Suffolk, organised by Cycle Breaks, biking between picturesque towns across a journey of 111 miles and staying in some excellent hotels. All of the hotels offered something unique, but two were particularly outstanding - shout out to The Crown at Stoke by Nayland and The Angel at Bury St. Edmunds. Cycle Breaks was a very supportive company - they did all the bookings and provided me with printed road maps to take with me on every ride, as well as recommended routes to upload onto sat-nav. I managed to operate very well on combining both maps with sat-nav as well as employing the old-fashioned approach of reading road signs! The journeys took me through some of the loveliest villages I’ve ever seen, and I also made a point of stopping at and exploring many of the beautiful country churches Suffolk has to offer. Although I was cycling alone, I really valued the experience and probably approached it differently because of that. I should add that I was lucky to be blessed with very warm weather, and most days was careful to slap on the sunblock! Thanks, Cycle Breaks, for arranging my tour and for all your help and advice.

Cycle Breaks are lovely, helpful people and we very much enjoyed our five-night cycling tour of the Suffolk coast and countryside (including Framlingham, Southwold and Aldeburgh). They have a great selection of routes at different lengths and levels of difficulty, they booked very nice hotels for us, and their whole process was efficient. Andy and Mike are very responsive, and they were friendly and welcoming when we collected and dropped off the bikes (which were also great, and comfortable).
A cycling holiday won't always be the 'easiest' kind of holiday, and the weather is going to have a bearing on how hard you have to work. But you see so much beautiful scenery you would never see otherwise, on the little country lanes, and there's a sense of achievement when you get to your next stopover. We also returned a bit fitter than when we left.
If I did this type of holiday again, I'd ask for two nights in at least a couple of the towns, to give some recovery time between cycling days. The extra day would also mean you could explore the destination at more of a relaxed pace. Cycle Breaks will happily do this for their customers.
In short, I'm glad to have been on this trip and I'd recommend Cycle Breaks. :)

We used Cycle Breaks for the second time over the Easter weekend. They were really quick at responding to queries and request when deciding which tour to book and all the pre trip itinerary and info was great. The bikes were of excellent quality and the GPS system really helped navigate us around. The B&Bs were lovely and our bags were already in our room each time we turned up. If you are thinking of booking a trip with Cycle Breaks, then do it. I would highly recommend them and will definitely be organising another trip soon.

Clear and speedy communication. All emails were dealt with in a very helpful manner. Even when the wrong email was used to register the sat-nav package, this was rectified by the local partner within a few minutes. The selection of hotels (3 locations) were all excellent.

Cycle breaks is a very helpful customer oriented company. Our queries were dealt with quickly, politely and in one case a lovely sense of humor.
We booked a 4 day 3 night for 2 cycling holiday in Norfolk. We received from the company
1. A booklet with containing details of at least 4 different rides for each day, each ride had a bit of Information about the places you would cycle through and where you could get food and drink.
2. A pdf of each ride with full instructions
3. A gpx file for each ride
4. Waterproof os maps of the area (you had to return these via a prepaid envelope at the end of your trip).
The routes were we cycled were through some lovely countryside along very quiet country roads.
The two places we stayed at were up to standard, very welcoming and both did a very nice full English breakfast.
I would happily use the company again and recommend them to other people.

Personalized service.
We rented 8 bikes for a week, they were delivered at a convenient time for us, fitted to each person and collected at the end of the week.
The bikes were in excellent condition and came with locks, spare tubes, bags and computers as required.

For our 50th wedding anniversary we wanted a special holiday and chose to do the 230mile Rebellion Way in Norfolk. We are a bit past camping and bike packing and wanted to both enjoy the journey and have comfortable lodgings along the way. Cycle Breaks arranged everything, including 4 star accommodation for us and our tandem. When a problem arose with one of the hotels, Cycle Breaks sorted it out promptly without any fuss. Highly recommended.

Great organisation , hotels...and the downloaded routes worked very well..without recourse to written instructions...which were incredibly dense..and used a lot of local road/ street names which a non local could not comprehend Also very helpful when we had to cut our trip by a day...
The routes were very attractive..and mostly not too challenging. Suffolk is a beautiful county..
