Huge Ripoff
Huge Ripoff, tokens can’t be exchanged to cash. Some places give cups with the Cuprevolution logo on its bottom but do not accept the actual token in exchange and you have to argue.

You have to pay deposit to rent a plastic cup. but you never get back the deposit, you get another plastic instead. but if there is a customer that gives negative feedback, they stalk them, find the customer's workplace and give negative feedback without even knowing what is that company about. I mean.. how sick is that.
unethical company, their product is a greenwashing rip off
A company that introduced a plastic cup re-using and sharing system. Their target is larger concerts, venues, but nowadays you can also find them in medium sized party places.
As an end user what you experience is that you have to pay an extra fee per cup to get served with your choice of drink. If you return the cup, you don’t get your money back, instead they give you a plastic token that you can exchange for a cup next time.
There are various problems with this system, out of which not all of is the company’s fault, but in the end the end-users are left with a very bad experience.
- the tokens are not unified, there are venues in Budapest that does not accept the token coming from another venue. So if you are a regular at these places, you’ll end up with having to keep 3-5 different tokens with you all the time. So much for “spontaneous night outs” where you decide last minute where to go.
- some of the tokens have an expiry date (!). Meaning you can exchange them for a cup at a certain venue for 1 year or so, but after that the place forces you to buy a new cup and get a new token. They have no concept on what should happen with the expired tokens, so most people just throw them away in the trash. So much for saving the planet from plastic waste.
- the system completely neglects tourists and people visiting Budapest for just a few days. So they end up paying the extra fee per cup, and throwing out the plastic tokens when they leave. A huge problem the company should try to solve somehow, because it generates a lot of plastic waste, and it is also unethical towards the tourists.
These are problems that could be solved on the mid to long term, so normally I’d give 2 or 3 stars, hoping that the system will evolve and becomes a true alternative to thorwaway plastic cups on festivals, that still produces a lot more waste.
The 1 star rating is due to how the company was communicating with the end users in the past few weeks. Part of the horrible end-user experience was that people started to end up with a lot of plastic tokens and plastic cups. So normally Facebook groups emerged where angry people started to blame the company.
Representatives of the company showed up in the largest FB group, and tried to start open conversations. As expected they faced a lot of hate, but instead of saying “we’re sorry, we will do this and that to become better”, they were very arrogant, not saying anything to exact claims and problems, just saying their own positive mantra. At some point they even threatened people with legal lawsuits.
I think it is totally unacceptable how they handled and are still handling the frustration caused by the terrible end-user experience. It made me lose faith in the management of the company, so now I don’t have any hope they will be able to solve the core problems and evolve the service into something better.
I have never met a company with worst public relations or communications. They're the epitome of greenwashing
Classic greenwashing scam, and their communication is also disgusting.
Greenwashing. I want my cansh back, not a freaking plastic medal, that I can't use in the next bar.
This is a recup token company. The system they employ is to ally with participating businesses to force customers to buy plastic cups if they want to be served for approx. 1 EUR but they will not return your money when you return the cup.
Recup scam. Not giving back money. They give instead a piece of plastic. What is only changable for a new cup in a few places.
