Bad experience

Bad experience
I order a puzzle, the Machinist Stash, order confirmed.
Two days later with no update a new message item isn’t in stock.
They will issue a refund.
I couldn’t see any refund, and further the item shows be available back in the shop.

Great customer service

This is a great company with brilliant customer service. I was given a birthday gift from them but unfortunately had it already. I emailed them about it and they replaced it within the week, despite this being their busiest period due to Christmas. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

Good example of how online shopping…

Good example of how online shopping should be. I've made several orders over the years and there has only been 1 problem, where they immediatly offered to ship a replacement. They also ship internationaly at a fair price, which not every shop does and they have always been swift and solution oriented if any problems have arised.

Very pleased with all aspects of my…

Very pleased with all aspects of my shopping experience. Friendly and helpful customer service with quick delivery. The puzzle will make a great Christmas present for my dad, and I loved the hand written thank you note. A lovely touch from this independent company! Will definitely shop with them again.

Frustrating experience

Frustrating experience
I bought 2 Hanyama puzzles, I wanted a difficult one so I looked on cruxpuzzles and found a Hanyama puzzle that was level 6, the highest rating for Hanyama puzzles. I received the puzzles only to find the hard one is actually only a Level 4 puzzle. I contacted Customer Service only to be told that the difficulty level is their own concoction of how they rate the puzzle and that it's out of 10. But on the web page all it says is Brand:Hanyama, Difficulty: Level 6.
So the options I have are: return it at my own expense and time or just accept that I've wasted some money and never shop at cruxpuzzles again.

Hi Andy, as discussed the ratings on our site are given out of 10 which to us makes a lot more sense than out of six. We noticed the other puzzle you ordered was a Level 8 on our scale which presumably must have caused you some confusion. Of course difficulty levels are subjective so you may find the puzzle harder than one with a higher rating anyway. As mentioned we offered to arrange a return for a new puzzle or a refund and would be more than happy to advise on some of our most difficult puzzles for you.

Really pleased

Really appreciate their customer service. My parcel went missing after a misstep by Royal Mail and their customer service team were quick in helping me get it replaced. Very easy to deal with and responsive.

Well made products too and lots of fun choices. Thanks!

Repeated false advertising for low prices

Basket price jumped from £47.35 to £56.80 the moment I entered my address - which is within 10 miles of their UK depot, so absolutely nothing to do with delivery costs. Same happened again when I started over in Incognito mode so no accident either. This constitutes false advertising as the only reason I went to the site was because of the low prices offered from the google search.

The website then offers 10% off if you subscribe to their newsletter, however despite already getting spammed about my incomplete order (emailed again confirming the £47.35 price, only to jump to £56.80 the moment I click the link) I have seen no sign of 10% off.

No sign of their office when I looked on google street view either.

Unsurprisingly then, no chance I'm giving them my custom either.

Hi Kerran, sorry you had an issue while using our site. From the pricing your describe it looks like you are being shown the prices without VAT as customers outside the UK would see and then it is adding it on when you are entering details showing you are in the UK. My guess would be you are using a VPN which doesn't show your true location and that is causing the issue. For anyone not using a VPN then it should be absolutely fine.

The puzzles were well packaged in recyclable materials, and dispatched quickly.

Number of emails I received was excessive: an invoice email, a 'your order is on hold' email, and a 'your order has been received' email shortly after ordering, and then a 'your order has been shipped' email and a separate 'a note has been added to your order' email with the tracking number. Five is too many - an order confirmation email, and a shipping notification with tracking number would suffice. When you add on the emails that Royal Mail send about delivery, it's all a bit much.

The order came with a full A4 packing slip, a business card, and a vinyl sticker. Unfortunately I have no use for the sticker so it went in the bin.

In summary: great selection of puzzles, efficient service, but some edges that could be smoothed out in terms of communication and parcel inclusions.
