Good for short stays

Good for short stays
I arrived at Cohabs at a time where the requirements for the move in were quite easy and convenient for me, and having everything furnished was also super. I met a lot of people who I cherish/ed a lot, and the service was quite good at the time. After around 6 months everyone noticed a decline in the quality of the service provided, and people who would stay only 2-3 months would be accepted. This is something that most people who stay max 6 months won't feel, but living with 37+ different people in a year and a half is too much for anyone (this alone made me want to leave asap). Also around the beginning of 2025 we started having a lot of construction with minimal warning, and way too many visits and rooms being entered by staff sent by Cohabs with also minimal to no warning at all.
Despite this, and some other instances where communication wasn't the best, I'd rate my experience overall on the positive side, as I was able to have a space when I needed it, and I didn't need to worry about amenities most of the time. For the price and considering all of what I've just said, it's great for shorter stays, would not recommend for more than 6 months whatsoever. The kitchen was awesome tho!

Face to face with Cohabs

My experience with Cohabs has been easy all around. From the first call, confirming alignment between my expectations and those of Cohabs and potential roommates, to the moving-in process and living in Brussels. I want to especially draw attention to the ease of moving into a Cohabs' house. House access through phones makes the process flexible, while the content of the house (like kitchen appliances and other daily necessities) makes the process as short and effortless as possible. If the vision of Cohabs is something you find yourself considering, I would not hesitate.

good way to make friends

Joséphine from cohabs helped me find a house in Brussels, where I met some lovely people, so this is a great way to make friends if you're moving to a new city. The only negative I would point out is that, considering the high rent, maintenance issues were not solved quickly enough.

Wonderful experience with cohabs

First of all, with cohabs there is simplicity of finding house and being the house is equipped make your moving in process easily and smooth. The diversity of the nationalities and cultures of the residents, sharing with them the laughter and the unforgettable amazing memories took my residence to another level. Would not recommend

Unfortunately, Cohabs was not a great experience for me. On the plus side, it was very convenient to be able to move into a space that was fully furnished and had most of the amenities you would need. I also feel I got quite lucky with a few of my housemates being great people to hang out with (but I'm sure that can be very hit or miss, depending on where you end up). But that's about where the positives end.

Upon arrival, I was completely lost on the move-in process. The app wouldn't unlock the front door, I did not receive a fob, I had no clue where my room was, and nobody from Cohabs was present to assist (and since it was a Saturday, nobody was available via phone to help me either). Apparently, a house ambassador should have been around to welcome me and give me a tour, but that didn't happen. So for the first few days, I felt completely lost and out of place. Also, since the app wouldn't work for the front door, and I had no fob, I had to move in through the basement, which added an additional two flights of stairs to every trip I made. So things were not off to a good start.

After about 2-3 weeks, I came home to find construction notices posted around the house. I came to find out that they would be doing about 3 weeks worth of construction on the 4th floor and the kitchen, which I had not been informed of at any time (the rest of the housemates knew, but Cohabs apparently did not think it was important to let me know when I signed my lease). They also offered a discounted rent to the rest of the house due to the inconvenience, which was not offered to me until I asked (if a housemate hadn't mentioned it, I would have been charged the full rent while everyone else received a discount). When I tried to find out why I wasn't informed of any of this, I was simply told that "they should have warned me."

It's also important to note that security and access seem to differ from home to home. My house (Crown 907) had many shared spaces, which meant everyone in the house essentially had access to every floor. Since our rooms were not lockable from the outside, this meant our rooms were always accessible to the entire house if we weren't home. At one point, the house received an email saying that they would be changing how our fob access worked. For "safety purposes and to ensure NY regulation compliance", they let us know they would be installing locked doors on every level, which would require fob access. They also let us know that we would only have access to the floor we lived on, and the main kitchen. Many housemates were frustrated and confused, due to the shared spaces on each floor, which we were being told we would now be losing. They later clarified that we would all still have access to the shared spaces and they misspoke. But the confusing thing about this is that it did not add any additional security, because access essentially stayed the same - it simply required the one extra step of constantly needing your fob anytime you needed to access a floor. When I asked for clarification, Cohabs stated that this added security in case the front door was ever compromised. They also informed me that if I was unhappy with the security of the building, I could simply move into a different house.

It was also incredibly frustrating to me that any internal house issue had to be handled by the people in the house. Whether it be noise (like when folks would come home at 4 am), cleanliness problems, etc., Cohabs didn't do anything to help facilitate conversations or provide reminders of the general house rules. We had to deal with everything on our own, which can make for very uncomfortable and/or tense conversations, and frustrations when the problems don't get resolved. While I understand this is the norm when you have roommates, it would have been extremely helpful to have Cohabs step in as the company overseeing the homes, and should help to ensure a positive and respectful environment (and especially helpful when there are nearly 20 people in the house).

I'd also like to note that the move-out process requires you to be out at 10am on your last day, yet they charge you for an entire day. When I asked about this, they said this is how it always happens so that they can ensure the cleaners can come in and prep the room before the next housemate moves in on the same day. So while it isn't a ton of money, this means they are receiving double rent for the day, since they charge both the person moving out AND the person moving in.

And while it really is minimal compared to everything else, I received a number of incorrect emails each month stating that my rent hadn't been paid (I once received 5 emails in the span of 30 minutes), even though I was an automatic withdrawals.

So while it provided some convenience upon my arrival in New York, it was not worth the headaches I went through and would not recommend.

Cohabs is fantastic, but if there's a problem, that's when things go wrong.

I lived with Cohabs for nine months. While I really liked my roommates and enjoyed the experience a lot (at least until problems arrived), I cannot recommend this company or the way they handle conflicts.

Two of my roommates, who were designated as 'ambassadors', were apparently unhappy with me living in the house. They spoke to a Cohabs employee in an effort to prevent me from returning after the summer break. Because of their "ambassador "status and longer tenure in the house, I was simply offered a transfer to another house.

This felt like an abuse of power. If two people out of a group of 20 don't get along with you and they're "ambassadors", they have the power. It created a clear divide between first-class and second-class tenants.

I didn’t even get the chance to recount my side of the story. One of the two people involved is ten years older than me, which only added a sense of discomfort and power imbalance to the situation. To make matters worse, I’m still waiting for a response from the company about the situation.

It was a very bad experience, I can´t recommend the company at this point. Go to another company and enjoy your experience. And above all, be a good person.

Easy and smooth experience

Getting a room is quite easy, however no viewings are available which was slightly troublesome for me. The house however is great and I have made many friends which really made my experience in Brussels very nice. Whenever there is a problem, it is fixed quite quickly. Cohabs is not always very responsive by email though, and their system for processing payments is sometimes a bit slow. Despite the price, I would still recommend it to others as the rooms are tastefully designed and are well maintained.

Great experience within Cohabs community and reliable service!

The houses are located in lively and well-connected neighborhoods, with public transport, shops and cafés just around the corner. Settling into Brussels felt much smoother thanks to that.
Price-wise, the rent matches the local market. What really makes it stand out are the included services. The homes come fully equipped with everything from kitchen tools to cleaning products. It really takes the stress out of moving.
Any time I needed help, their support team was quick and efficient. Problems got solved without fuss, and you can tell they genuinely care.
One of the highlights is the community aspect. Cohabs hosts regular events that make it easy to meet new people and build friendships. It feels more like living with a network than just renting a room.
Most importantly, what you see online is exactly what you get in real life. That honesty builds trust from the very beginning and it lasts.

Amazing way of living in Brussels

Meeting and sharing with a lot of new people is clearly one of the main thing that happen when you live in Cohabs. Nice quality of the houses and services, and a lot of fun with the activities inside the house or between the houses. Okay but expensive for what you get

In general everything is okay and nice to live with people in one house. However, in recent months the service has gone down a lot and this has been noticed by everyone. Overall good quality of houses, subpar service and an expensive living price for just one room. Not for everyone but okay.
