Appalling service

Appalling service. I'm another customer trying to sort out my late father's estate. Clerical medical are impossible to contact. By phone you just get a message to ring back later, they haven't answered my letter or emails. I would recommend to anyone having problems with clerical medical to raise an official complaint..just write a letter and send it recorded delivery, this gives them 2 months to sort your issue then you can take it up with the ombudsman

Appalling

My father passed away a year and five months ago. Clerical Medical have still not processed his pension and staff are very coy as to why it has not been dealt with and closed. The grieving process is hard enough without having to be mislead about processing times and lies from the people that work there. After several complaints and ombudsman involvement, 500 days later we are still waiting for it all to be over. I am appalled and disgusted that a company like this is still in operation.

DISGUSTING DISGUSTING DISGUSTING

Clerical Medical, how do you sleep at night ???
Actually, very well I expect. You obviously don't care whatsoever about your customers, you care even less about the deceased people that you conned money from. Money that they paid over to you for years in good faith, money that they pay to you as part of an AGREEMENT with you. Money that you then hold on to, and avoid handing over to the beneficiaries. Money that is needed to repay debts for Funerals for loved ones. Money that was paid into you for just the purpose of paying for a Funeral after the loved ones passing. Money that does not belong to you.
Why can we never actually talk to a Manager? Is the Manager scared to talk to customers? Is the Manager a real person? If the Manager has any decency he/she should get money paid to their customers and stop holding onto peoples money. Do you CM employees invest with your own company?
ABSOLUTELY NOT, YOU KNOW HOW BAD YOU LOT REALLY ARE. I am sick of your disgusting vile company, after you pay out what you owe, you should be shut down.

This company if full of Liars

This company if full of Liars, I have an investment plan with them that for over two months now I've been trying to get my money out of the plan and I keep getting fobbed of with lie after lie.
Dilip Sarger and Shailaja Galkwad are both complaint managers allegedly and are meant to be sorting this out.
They are both absolutely useless.

43 years of Premiums and impossible to encash

There should be a zero star option. Have been trying to encash a policy my parents opened in 1979 for the past 6 months. The experience is borderline fraudulent. Navigating the Clerical Medical, Scottish Widows, Lloyds Group organisation trying to find a single employee that seems willing to care is a truly Quixotic quest. No ability to talk with managers, a complaints department with no empowerment or ability to actually get anything done, and a completely invisible leadership team. "System issue" seems to be a scripted response. My father who worked for the CM&G for 28 years must be rolling in his grave. Beyond frustrated and now with Ombudsman.

Delays in receiving my funds

Have been trying to make a partial withdrawal from a bond to pay an urgent bill to a builder. This should have been dealt with within days but 6 weeks later i have received nothing despite 5 calls to customer services and sending an email.
Customer services helpful and sympathetic and i have been able to get through on phone - but nothing happens and my bill has become a debt.
Today i asked to speak to a manager but was put through to the complaints department who couldn't tell me what i really need to know - when will i receive the funds? In fact was told that others have been waiting longer.
I don't know what to do next - i am being hassled for money to pay my debt and it is truly awful.

over 4 months waiting for a payout

After 25 years if investing in an endowment plan, it was due to pay out beginining of Dec 21. 4 months later still no payout. They say it is due to an IT issue, but cant tell me when it will be resolved. Have gone through to their complaints department, but no one I talk to has the authority to help and they wont put me through to anyone with authority. They just offer apologies and tell me to wait. Very poor customer service, no empathy or care, in my opinion.

Very difficult to get through on the phone. I have been passed round 4 different departments and, after 38 minutes, am still holding. Also, they always try and give out the very expensive 0345 numbers. Very frustrating to try and deal with

Appalling

Appalling. Waited until after my Endowment maturity date to claim that they needed me to fill in more documents, which they then said will take their back office 26 working days to mail to me! Difficult to take at face value as just bureaucracy and feels like deliberate delays to making payment (I am sure new customers are not faced with this.) As every other review here says, if there was a I zero star rating, I would have used it.

Unfit for purpose.

If I could give them a no star rating I would. My Father died in October and I've been constantly in touch trying to get the investment paid out. I have had one letter from them in that time, to return a document. I raised the matter with the complaints department but even they are unreliable. The latest excuse for non payment is that a reference number was omitted from the authorisation to pay. Absolutely disgraceful company, unfit for purpose. They should be banned from trading.

Unacceptable delays on death of policy holder

Despite numerous phone calls and sending a death certificate I have been unable to obtain a probate valuation for my late father in laws policy a (life insurance bond). I have completed an online bereavement claim form but this prompted little action by Clerical Medical. I was told there is another online policy claim form which must be completed before I can get a valuation for probate and this will take at least 13 days from the arrival of my second form. Already CM has delayed the probate claim for 4 weeks and it looks like it might be another 4 weeks! Unacceptable. Why would anyone take out a life policy with this company (Clerical Medical/LLoyds and Scottish Widows)? - advisors should not be recommending them.

The worst customer experience I have…

The worst customer experience I have ever experienced. Avoid at all costs. No payout a year after a claim for a life insurance policy, when debts are mounting. The staff are totally untrained and management must be even worse to run such a terrible company that don’t deliver their side of the deal when customers need it most. Not even worth one star. Absolutely hopeless, needs some media attention to expose how the company is rotten to the core with terrible principles.

Terrible terrible company

Terrible terrible company.
My father died in early December and had a life assurance policy. We contacted them and they gave us a processing time of 114 working days, ie 6 months. I complained as my mother is 93 and needs access to the funds.
Having written a complaint in early January I got a reply on 17 January - the letter had been back dated to 4 January! Having given them all the signed forms they requested by return I have heard nothing more from them and have spent hours on the phone without getting any answer. I will have to put the matter in the hands of the ombudsman if I don't get payment within 2 weeks. My father would have been horrified at their treatment. It used to be a reputable company when he took out the policy back in 1964. They were very happy to take his money, but are clearly not so happy to pay it out. Their excuse is they have a backlog - not acceptable.
Disgraceful and disgusting treatment.

2nd review since September 2021

I've been waiting since early September 2021 for encashment of a bond. Waited the 10+ weeks they told me... nothing. Made a formal complaint to CM - heard nothing... made a formal complaint to the financial Ombudsmen - but they are so busy there is a wait of 8 weeks before they can even look at it. It seems that there is absolutely nothing a customer can do or say to get anywhere with this company! Has anybody thought about or progressed in taking their issues anywhere else - for example the media? I believe that bad publicity is the only thing that may cause them to do anything at all...

Shame on Clerical Medical

Shame on Clerical Medical and in particular shame on the bereavement team.
We have been at loggerheads with these cowboys for over 5 months since my father's death to try and transfer investments into my mother's name and then to withdraw monies.
Unbelievably the G1356 form which you need to complete to withdraw funds has the wrong return address on it. The address for CM is no longer in Dalkeith but is actually 69 Morrison Street, Edinburgh, EH3 1HD.
The matter is now sorted however my mother is virtually bed-ridden with psoriasis due to the stress of dealing with this excuse for a company.
The complaints number is 0800 032 1409 and I would suggest phoning this relentlessly and record details of everything that is said, as it will be useful if you need to go to ombudsman.

Shame on you Lloyds TSB (parent company) and Clerical Medical for blatantly witholding funds from bereaved customers.

Terrible Terrible Terrible

Terrible, terrible company. Avoid at all costs. Effectively stealing my money. Started to transfer the fund from my wife's estate over 6 months ago. They accept that it is in my name, but for some reason they are unable to pay the money out. Every time you ring you are told some thing different. Timescales from 16 working days to 108 working days to 222! Told they had escalated my claim so I would get it in 20 working days. Rang to ask where it was and told they had nothing to report. Raised a complaint 3 times now, 1st one was never processed, the 2nd just said we are very busy, and when I replied saying that was no use got a reply saying that they were too busy to read my response. 3rd time I am waiting to see if anything happens. Whatever it is it will be a complete waste of time.

Edit 14 days later and it seems as if the 3rd complaint was never raised. Soon I am going to be raising a complaint about them not raising complaints!
