Soy Saucey Show

Overall it was a fun experience and the concept of the show was cool. But the venue was definitely smaller than expected so at some points it felt packed; the seating was tight and it was hard to feel physically comfortable for the entire show. I also felt slightly pressured to laugh at every single joke because it would have been easy to see me not laugh and call me out for it (I don’t like being put on the spot and crowd-worked) since obviously not everyone was absolutely hilarious, but maybe that’s just me.

It got a bit confusing whenever a new person went up and introduced the next comics especially with such a small lineup, so what could have been a show with one consistent host for a lineup of like 10, was more like 5 different hosts that threw off the flow of the show. I think a kind of structure where there’s one host and they go either first or last would ensure the audience isn’t ever confused. I liked when the hosts would improvise a joke referencing something from the last person’s set! One of them said she’d rather eat a bat than go against the Filipino comic at karaoke so props to that bit lol.

Overall fun since I love comedy shows, and the crowd’s energy was great! And it was pretty organized for the first Soy Saucey, so props to the minds behind the logistics. Some clearly seasoned comics and some that are newer to the game (at least from their jokes), so honestly I wouldn’t be opposed to the idea of giving the veterans longer sets than the newcomers but it is good that it was fair. Shoutout to the girl who had the bit about her twin stepdaughters and the first comic who joked about her shadow looking circumcised because she had a bob similar to her mom's, I enjoyed their sets a lot! Would go to another Soy Saucey show.

Great Show!

Great Show! Loved the venue, the number of comics was great. Each comic had a solid time slot, and I felt like I got my money's worth. Looking forward to the next!
